The site is already pretty much clean. I was amazed at how quick they got the trash up this year.
And I agree with the guy in the article, this was by far THE WORST year ever for people leaving all of thier trash laying around after shows. I was getting really pissed at times because people would just chuck thier shiit on the ground rather than in the trash.
me too! I'd see someone just drop a cup or bottle on the ground and I wanted to go up to them and point to the garbage can that was no more than 10 feet away from them. I was impressed that Clean Vibes played such an active role in Bonnaroo, it's a shame people didn't respect their efforts more.

Ain't that the truth, I couldn't help but comment to my friend that there seemed to be plenty of dirty vibes going around. I went as far as to put every filter from the cigs I smoked into the trash, carried them in my pocket if a barrel wasn't close....I'm no saint but what is with the people who just throw their trash on the ground? Maybe some of the folks with their comments about the Roo vibe being watered-down this year do have a valid claim....but I don't think I'd want to give up seeing all the cute girls there...OK, bring on the trash.
Every year my buddy and I have gone we've always had the cleanest campsite. We leave it like we found it. We almost always end up picking up peoples trash when we go to sit down too. People are such slobs.
the place was filthy after Radiohead....that walk to the the tents after the show was insane with how much trash you had to step on to get out.
When Radiohead was over, one of the Clean Vibes' girls was trying to hand out trash bags and get some help. She looked like she was going to cry, and said, "Please help out, guys." At the time we were strolling with the herd (see other thread for details) and I finally came to my senses. We grabbed a bag and started picking up recyclables for Clean Vibes. We were having a really good time chatting about the shows we had seen all day while we were collecting, so it was really no big deal. But the bonus was that we found a half-full bottle of sunscreen in the grass, which was perfect because we had run out of sunscreen earlier in the day.
I think it might help if the bands remind us to pick up the trash as they close out their set one last time - I for one was not thinking about picking up trash (other than my own) after some of those awesome, mind-blowing shows.

I too walked around all weekend with cig butts in my pocket. Big thanks to those that helped keep the scene clean and a big FUCK YOU to the assholes throwing trash on the ground.....don't they realize we all have to live there once a year?
The clean vibes crew has done a phenomenal job picking up around the Bonnaroo site. Each bag of trash was gone through and recyclables were removed. After the initial trash sweep, another crew was brought in to pick up the small stuff.

true that, lots of slobs this year. I had 2 girls sit next to me and bitch about how someone left some food bits on the ground right next to them. One then peels an orange and 15 mins later leave and leave the peels all over the ground. Way to do what you just spent 5 mins bitching about.

I'm right with you on this one. I also pick up from the slobs around us who see fit to leave all their crap laying on the ground. Also this year I grabbed a bag and in our last trip to the car (we did tent only this year) we picked up bottles/cans along the way.

hmmm... orange peels are organic. I had no problem leaving my orange peels on the ground... I'm the most environmentally active person I know. I also left egg shells and apple cores at our campsite. hmmm.... honestly I don't see anything wrong with it.
NEO, No real harm with the organics left behind in the big picture. However, better to bury them. Keeps the critters honest and speeds up natural decomposition. Plus, I'm sure somebody picked them up cuz they were unsightly if not the huge problem glass could be. As for leaving ANY refuse around the venue, like the aforementioned orange peels at radiohead--just plain inconsiderate and piggish to the people around.
I used to spend my younger days handing discarded cigarette butts back to their previous owners. Many of them were too embarassed to say anything. Many would try to justify it by saying that they would decompose themselves. Just about everything decomposes over time, people. We just shouldn't have to watch it happen on our way to EVERYWHERE. Nowadays I try not to make it about me, so I just pick up all I can.

Well, while waiting for Radiohead, I picked up more than my share of butts in the area in which I sat. I just don't understand people sometimes.
