Those of you who didn't like camping in BFE- would you consider going VIP next year to avoid that? I'm trying to gague how bad BFE really is and if VIP is worth it. It seems that the overall concensus is VIP is worth the extra money..
Yep definitely from what I have read about VIP - although really it is WAY too much money and I could take a "real" vacation for the price....... TBH it is kind of hard to justify that much, but we tend to be kind of frugal I am considering it though.....

I would love to do VIP but there is one thing that bothers me about it. I had other friends in different camps and I loved chillin with them at my camp and when it comes to VIP you can't get in unless you are VIP.
I think its a great idea if all your friends are going VIP or if its just you and a sig other and hanging out with other VIP people but it sort of sucks not being able to bring people back to your camp. Or atleast I think it would suck.

around 1,200 for a pair... i have the same concerns as rockitgirl though, i love to hang out with whoever i happen to meet, VIP seems kinda exclusive and not really the best spot for doing so
really?! I had no idea it was that much. I doubt I'll be doing that next year, I didn't expect it to be THAT much more. Granted if I did have the extra money I'd probably go VIP.
I understand everyone's concerns, but really, $200 vs. $600 was well worth the price. Free food (in an airconidtioned tent), half-price beverages, no security, air-conditioned bathrooms, showers, 4-minute walk to the main stage. This was the first year I actually got my concert-going dollars out of the money I spent. Last year I think we saw 6 shows because we were so exhausted from the walk to and from BFE - this year we saw at least 30. We love roughing it, and BFE wasn't all that bad, but being alert enough to see the bands was priceless.
Oh I'm sure it's worth the money. I hadn't planned on going to Bonnaroo that far in advance, maybe I'll be able to save up enough money to try VIP. I'd like to compare experiences.
We got in line of I-24 at 10am waited for about an hour got a real nice camping spot...not even 10 minute walk to centaroo and right by shakedown. Some people I knew got in line at like 5am.....they went to BFE. It looks like if you don't want to be out in the WAY BFE don't get there before 7am.
From what I've read it seems a lot of it is pure chance. I've read about people who got there early and ended up in BFE and people who got in pretty late and got close. I was lucky enough to be less than a 10 minute walk to Centeroo; I'm afraid I'll get stuck in BFE next year and have it be a completely different experience. Although there are some people who enjoyed the quietness and walk to Centeroo...
I also never really understood the issue with the noise. Every single night at Roo I was out within five minutes of hitting my pillow. I also enjoyed being able to hear the music still going while I was about to crash. If your being kept of by noise maybe its not time for you to go to bed yet!!!! ;D
I had a problem falling asleep withthe noise..the bass was what kept me up. The second night we found our earplugs, smoked, and then it helped put us to sleep.
2004 arrived at 4 am Thursday came in on Bushy Branch ended up in camp Dr No = BFE
2005 arrived at 7:30 am Thursday came in off exit 112 westbound ended up in camp Dr No = BFE ???
2006 arrived at Noon Thursday came in off exit 112 westbound ended up in camp Clubber Lang = ;D
As far as BFE is concerned I never listened to as much music as I did staying within 10 minutes. In fact I saw twice as much music. If I end up in BFE again I would go camp only.
I never go to sleep before the music ends so the bass did not bother me. Noise from other campers is everywhere though whether it's drunken shouting or fireworks all night there is no escape. Last year a guy in Dr No next to us let off one of those 100 rocket peices at 7 am friday morning screaming good morning bonnaroo. For hundreds of yards you could here people cusing and shouting at him.
Don't spend the extra $800 on VIP just buy a nice cart to lug your stuff and buy $10 showers all weekend. The food I make is better than VIP and if you do not want to cook buy in Centeroo. It will still not add up to $800. The real experience is in general population.

Yeah I have pretty much decided I won't spend the extra money on VIP. It's nice but I don't earn that much money that I can justify it, plus my boyfriend is ULTRA frugal so I would have a hard time convincing him. Also they are sold in pairs which is a problem because there are 3 of us.... I just feel like I missed so much because of that long walk exhausting us and putting us off going back and forth.
I think I will just try making a U-turn on 24 and coming in that exit around mid-day on Thursday next year and hope for the best. It seems that people who arrive around that time got pretty lucky. Thanks for the suggestions guys
BTW my BF is sound tech and bought along lots of ear plugs - I had never used them before but OMG best thing ever.

I never used earplugs before too either, they really helped! I won't travel to another festival without them from now on.
Yeah, it stopped me getting out of the tent and punching the really loud and annoying girl next to our tent at 3am, and the people playing and singing Ramones songs as loud as possible at 6am
