Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This Bonnaroo was my first big festival and, well, I'm not a hippie. Not by a long shot. That being said I enjoy the atmosphere, recreational drugs, non-jam music and most of the people... but we had a pretty bad experience at the campsite and I'd like to get your input as to whether this kind of thing is normal. If it is, well, I'm probably going to be doing the day parking deal for future festivals. On Friday night we came back from Petty to find that the guy parked next to us had freaked out (bad trip. alcoholic or maybe he's just an inconsiderate ass) and had RAN OVER the tent behind us and smashed into two cars on the way out. He was driving a huge pickup truck so you can probably imagine how bad things were. Smashed tent poles, his garbage spread all over the campground, a nasty frying pan full of day old bacon propped up next to our tent. I gave the victims some Guiness and tried to help clean up. Crazy McDriveoff comes back the next day, oblivious to what he had done, and the people who he had pretty thoroughly screwed over didn't want to even file a police report against the guy who had commited a hit and run? I know I shouldn't expect hippies to show a love of the police nor a backbone... but come on! Anyway, rant over. Aside from this I really enjoyed Bonnaroo. Thanks for reading this crap.

whoah! that is totally not the norm. sounds like a freak incident, in which your neighbor was the freak.
We actually had a lot of friends walk the distance to our camp because it was so chill. So I guess it depends on who you are surrounded by and that is usually just by chance.
sorry to here that. but I'm glad it didn't ruin your whole time. Sometimes things happen and you got to just let it go or else it will ruin the rest of your time there.
Taciturn, I saw that guy do that. It was like 2 tents down from us. I felt like I should do something, but wasn't in any state of mind to do so. I just sat and watched in awe. Cool that we camped so close, though.
Thanks for your input, guys, it makes me feel better about future festivals. I was kinda expecting something like this, unfortunately, when you put 80,000 people on just about every drug imaginable into such a small area.
However, I do think the lack of hippies detracted from the sense of community. I noticed a couple of people being not a very nice persons as they tried to drive out.
Actually the guy is trying to say that it was the hippies who were not reacting properly. Acid-fueled ANYONE shouldn't drive.
I saw an RV (A BIG ONE) hit another RV (parked) while trying to manuever in an area where he should not have been maneuvering!
Was this in VIP? Because a giant tour-bus-like-RV crushed in on the front of a stationary, big pickup pulling a camper just a couple spaces from us. On Thursday too- so instantly two vacations were ruined.

Not the norm. Unfortunately there seemed to be a lot of people there who came for a party when Bonnoroo is for people who are about the music. Perhaps next year they will return to their jam band ways and we'll have 80,000 thousand hippies instead of your college frat boys who like to detroy things. My philosphy is always that all are welcome and the more the merrier, however, general respect for other people and our world seemed to be lacking a lot this year.
Yeah that is definitely not the norm and it sucks you had that bad experience. I agree that there were MANY people who seemed to be all about the "scene" and not so much the music - even my 14 year old daughter looked at some people and said OMG why are they even here, because they just didn't fit. Of course the drugs and the partying are a big part of it, but it is a shame that would be the only reason for going.
yeah, I did notice a lot of people that I thought "should not be there" BUT I never got any bad vibes from anyone. Everyone I met, wheather it be Hippie, Indie, or hip-hop gangster (haha) was real cool. Everyone I talked too were the coolest people I've met in awhile.
The only problem I had was the way a lot of the "non-hippie" crowd was trying to still keep style with their clothes. Taking a full out shower in the wash-down places, and wearing nice jeans and shirts. Why would you bring NICE clothes to a place like Bonnaroo? So you can ruin them? And as hot as it was.. why would anyone want to wear jeans?! But I did not care because that's what they chose to do, so good for them. This was the best Bonnaroo yet.
what's the deal with all these labels? I had no troubles at all with anyone, whether they were seeing Death Cab or Oysterhead, most everyone was friendly. I understand that in a crowd of mostly chill people the a$$holes are going to stick out like a sore thumb, i guess i'm just lucky i didn't encounter any.
Hippies, non-hippies, and indie....screw that, we are people and Bonnaroo should be a place for everyone.
I think I was camped near Crazy McDriveOff because I remember hearing about that on saturday morning from a nieghbor. I didn't see any of the damage though.

Not sure why these kind of things would bother you. While I don't understand why people would wear nice clothes or long pants to 'Roo, it is not something I would notice or really care about. Hey... maybe they were trying to lose weight... maybe they were trying to avoid getting bit by the giant bugs that had a feast all weekend... I don't care what people wear.
Also, what is the difference if people are using the wash down stations to... wash down would bother you. Saturday, I took a makeshift shower and one and it was a great idea. It had nothing to do with the way I smelled or anything like that. After 2 days of sitting in the blazing sun, it simply felt great to take a shower and I had new life afterward. I would recommend that everyone wash down atleast once. If I go again, I will do it once a day.

well, I guess I worded that wrong.. it's not that I had a problem with it. I just saw it as weird. I've never seen that before at bonnaroo (and if you have, maybe I was just not paying any attention previous years). Sure, I've seen people tryin to shower before, but never have I seen lines of people waiting to shower in stinky water lol.
like I said, I have no problem with it, that's what people wanted to do. So good for them, because I didn't want too. I'm sure it was a lot better than using baby wipes (like I did) I just could not get myself to use that water to wash down with.
I had absolutly no problems with anyone there. Everyone I met, no matter what stereotype you want to put them into, were real cool, chill people. Sure, some people didn't look like they fit in with what bonnaroo was originally about (jam-band hippie scene), but that has definitly changed in recent years. I'm glad, because we get to have all types of people there. As I said before, this was the best bonnaroo yet, and I can't wait for next year!

Hey if people wanna be stylish let um be stylish. They can sweat there asses off in jeans. I wear jeans 360 days out of the year. The 5 day weekend at roo, its shorts. I personally want to be comfortable and am not trying to keep up my "look". I am happy to hear people were cleaning themselves. Good job kids, keep those bodies clean!
