This is how I've felt this month. JR and I are buying new vehicles and picking models, colors, options, etc to be just how we want them... I suppose there are worse problems to have than picking out your brand new car, but it's still stressful AF.
There's something to be said about having a wealth of options at your disposal causing you to lock up. The ladyfriend bought a couch last year. She casually looked for a bit, but when it came time to seriously look, we went to two stores. At the second, she found one she liked and that was in her range and bought it right then without looking at any more stores. She knew she could go on forever if she tried to find a perfect one.
This is what I did when I bought my sofa for the old place in 2014. Looked online for forever, went to the Rooms to Go outlet that was having a HUGE sale, fell in love with the first couch I saw and bought it. If I kept looking, I would still need a couch...well I do need a new couch but that because the new house doesn't match the old couch. That will get replaced when we absolutely NEED a new couch.
I already need an armchair too! I can’t do it, you guys. It’s too much pressure. I’m definitely going to crack.

I got a new car last summer, and I totally half-assed that decision because I couldn’t stand the thought of going to another dealership. I think I just have a problem with salespeople in general. They zap my energy.

I had a much easier time when it was furniture buying time. We went to Rooms to Go... There were 2 sets in the style we wanted... Sat on them both and said, "that one."

I hear you. We got my car in on Friday. Apparently the set-up I wanted was easier than JR's to locate. His won't be here til approx 2/20. It's not even my vehicle and I'm grumbly about waiting... On the + side, the dealer we're going through is awesome.

I HATE car dealerships...I shopped for my current car (I bought last week of Sept 2013) for over 10 months. I started looking at the end of December 2012. I finally stopped dealing with the dealerships in person and searched for my dream car online (once I test drove and knew what car I wanted). I then sent emails to each of the car salesmen/saleswomen I worked with the car I wanted and asked them what kind of deal they could do. Superior Honda won. Gave me the lowest price AND a three year/30,000 mile warranty that covered EVERYTHING. Got a nail in your tire? Bring it in, they fixed/patched/replaced it for free. I have learned that is the only way to buy a car now.

This is not wrong. I think I am going to have to suck it up and go back to the stores. That will limit my options, and I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to make a decision if I can’t actually sit on the sofa anyway.

So much truth in that bolded line. You can't buy a couch without sitting on it. What if it is lumpy or hard? What if it is too small or looks good on the monitor but not in person. You have to try it out to see if you are going to want to own it.

I would probably have taken much more time than I did, but my last car was totaled, so I had limited shopping time.
Related to this topic, I ordered a bed online from IKEA and it's been 12 days and I still don't have it. They're supposedly deliver it today in a few hours, so I'm just aimlessly waiting in my apartment.
And I don't also have a couch and keep postponing the searching process. I think I just need my bed for now.

We bought the lighter colored Cindy Crawford Alpen Ridge set from Rooms to Go just over 2 years ago and it's still like brand new. It's used daily by 2 adults and 2 kids.

I only buy sofas after taking a pillow, blanket, fan, and a good movie on the iPad for a test run on each candidate.
Right?! I’d totally put this one on hold, but we’ve got walls that need painting, so I sucked it up and ordered one.
I need to buy a ladder and you two are freaking me out. Like how expensive is expensive?
I ended up going with a 22’ Little Giant from Amazon, which cost me $229.69 plus tax. I probably could have gotten out with something smaller for painting, but I was nervous that if I did, I would end up having to get a second one at some point. I figure this way, I should be pretty well covered (it has various configurations to set it up for different uses).

Yeah. They're not second mortgage on the house expensive. Just more than I expected.
$230 for a ladder is a bit much. I am going to have to start looking and figuring out what size I need (I need to get on the roof and clean off the awning and other outside chores, including trimming my two oak trees), so that I can start comparative shop and get the best price on a ladder for our household need. Homeownership has some downsides, but the plus side is I don't have a crazy landlord trying to get me on HER roof to clean out gutters. There are some lines I draw.

If you can pick it up, you might be able to find a better deal in a store. I was going to get a 10’ stepladder from Home Depot for $130, but we don’t have access to a truck and home delivery was going to be another $70. Since the prices weren’t going to be that much different, I decided to go with the bigger ladder that I didn’t have to pay shipping for.
Keep your eye on Craigslist and yard sales for ladders
This is good advice. We actually sold our last ladder at a garage sale for less than half what we paid for it (kicking myself now, but we were trying to get rid of as much stuff as possible to save on moving expenses). If I had more time, and it was the right time of year for garage sales, I’d have tried this, but we want to get all the painting done before we move, and we want to move within the next month, so it was easier to just go ahead and buy a new one.
DeWalt ladders are like ascending to heaven on a golden cloud. I am not being paid to say this, I am just a fan.
Yeah, on Amazon, the Dewalt ladder comparable to the one I got is $450. Can’t see paying that for the amount my ladder will be used. I had a hard enough time accepting the $230.

Fuck $450. I will definitely start looking at garage sales, it is the season here already (in the 80s, yay the South). If I can't find what I am looking for through that method, I will definitely go out and buy one, I can borrow a truck.

I was referencing John Oliver, but DeWalt ladders do look nice.

I am losing a family member to addiction in a way that is so highly visible that today I could hardly keep it together. I cried my eyes out sitting in my office parking lot, feelings I have a hard time processing let alone accessing. Get help, if you can.
