I'm scheduled for round 2 of lithotripsy (procedure to get rid of kidney stone) this Friday. Last Week I get a call from the hospital about going in for pre-surgery testing/blood work. I didn't want to miss more work and I didn't have to go in for that during my last procedure a few weeks back. I call my doctor and the hospital a million times to try and talk to someone and eventually get through and am told that I can go to a lab to get blood work done (yay! I can go before work or on the weekend) and everything's fine and dandy.
Then I call today to confirm because I picked up the prescription for blood work and the hospital tells me I still need to go in and get other stuff completed. Even though I didn't last time (but I think that was a timing thing more than a normal way of doing things). So now I miss more work for dumb hospital stuff.
On the plus side, I did get a great pick-me-up from custeph who sent a letter with a neat little button to make me feel better. Thanks so so much for that Steph! It was the best letter I got recently....much better than all the medical paperwork junk I had. Put a smile on my face
But screw doctors/medical junk and the flip flopping info I keep getting.
I told y'all shit was going to get real when I won that button maker on eBay.
$306.05 (with fees) for November 28 presale. I will still try for it like I did last year but $40 to $50 price hike--Grrr... Pressures on AC to deliver a lineup worthy of the hike. Or screens on the tents.
They are still paying off Kanye from last year. His contract stipulated a huge bonus for a spontaneous rant.
GRRR I don't like cold weather. Spent last evening surfing for real estate in St Croix.

Get the fuck out of here with the random Kanye jokes. Take that shit to the facebook page.
I do have to agree that cold weather is bullshit though.
My uncle is in the hospital. When they found him he wasn't breathing and they're saying that the oxygen to his brain had been cut off so long that even he makes it he won't be there. He's not breathing on his own and we have half our family from California flying out. My mom is a mess and I have no idea what to say to her. This is her twin. What do you say to someone who's twin, and only brother is dying in front of them?
Alcoholism sucks. I wish I would've answered his drunk dials more. I wish I would've hugged him more. I wish I visited more. Asked him how he was doing. Called him first. Had lunch with him.... Just something. I have no idea what to do and I feel so helpless just sitting here.
Hang in there lady <3
If there's a lot of your family at the hospital, make them some food and bring it to them. Even if it's just sandwiches. Food made by a loved one tastes better than hospital food (even if it's something you could get from the hospital). Or if you can pull them away from the hospital for a couple hours, have a nice family dinner. Share stories and hug each other.
Thank you all for your thoughts, advice, and well wishes. My uncle passed away this morning. My mother and I held his hands as he slipped away. I don't believe in God, but he did. So I hope that if he's with him now that he's taking care of him.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Losing a loved one is always tough, and even tougher when it's someone you're really close with. Hoping you and your family can get through this without much pain.

Sorry Monica...in my thoughts and sending good vibes.

I'm glad you were both there with him. Thinking of you and your family.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Oh boy. Medical bills. Insurance is so confusing and led me to believe one thing when it's more likely that I'll be paying off a nice chunk of change for a while. Calling about payment plans now. Woohoo!

' oh such a GRRRR! clearly you did not have "cosmetic" procedures done so I feel that they should be paying for it!!! I mean, come on. it's absolutely ridiculous!!! sorry you are dealing with all this
After a year and a half of looking for a job, my mom finally got one in September as a bus driver/teacher's aid. She loves working with kids - she's been a bus driver before, as well as a cafeteria aid. She's been so happy to have a job that she enjoys. And then, two days ago, some shithead prick little kid told her mom that my mom grabbed her by the chin (which my mom would never do). Naturally, the school said they were going to conduct an investigation, at which point my mom (naively, in my opinion) resigned, thinking that it would spare her the headache since it was just her word against the kid's anyway. However, my roommate does social work and says there's a very good chance they're going to do an investigation anyway, and that my mom should probably lawyer up and run any official statements by the lawyer so she doesn't screw herself. However, this is something my mom can't afford. Knowing that my mom probably made herself look guilty by resigning and that she probably won't be able to get a lawyer, does anyone on here have any advice? Dr. Joe? She might never be able to work with kids again because some asshole 5-year-old is an asshole 5-year-old. This shit is all falling on her so soon after getting her new job, and right before the holidays. It sucks so bad.

This makes me so sad. I'm so sorry for your mom. Did this incident happen on a bus? Do school buses have cameras these days? Kids of this age, I mean, while school officials have to look into what they say, it's also typical for them to say stuff like this, ya know? I'm just so sorry your mom has to deal with it.

This is not legal advice. But it's possible that the school may provide her a lawyer or that the lawyer for the school may represent both her and the school. The school's greatest concern should be getting sued by the kid or the cops getting involved. So throwing your mom under the ... train isn't its best option. Here in CA, if she was just doing her job, her employer's obligated to provide her a defense and see that she's not out of pocket. So if she's contacted by a lawyer for the school, she should ask them directly who they represent.
Is she in a union that can provide her an attorney?
If she does get interviewed and there's no lawyer to advise her, she should follow these rules:
1. Tell the truth. Don't exaggerate. Don't embellish. Any minor discrepancy hurts her credibility. 2. Listen to the questions carefully. If she doesn't understand the question, she needs to say that. 3. Don't be afraid to say, "I don't know." If she doesn't know the answer, she should say so. No guessing. 4. If she's shown a document, she should read it carefully before answering questions about it. 5. If she needs to take a break, she should ask to do so.
My prep guy asked me what I was listening to on my headphones this morning, when I responded with Jay-Z he replied "Oh that garbage? You know he would slit a white persons throat if someone gave him the chance". I didn't even know what to say.
Same guy also told me awhile back that he "doesn't believe in NASA"

Tell him he's crazy.
He's totes gonna murder the shit out of that MILF. We all know it's true. Just look at him! And NASA...you DO KNOW they faked Stanley Kubrick's death to cover up for the moon landing fabrication that we found out about because of all the references and hints he dropped in The Shining. After the trilateral commission realized what he'd done they erased his memory and replaced it with fake memories of a struggling sitcom actor. THIS GUY:

Are the same guy!!!
That's right, Ron Swanson IS Stanley Kubrick
Nice try, but everybody knows Room 237 was a piece of Illuminati disinformation to stop you from digging for the real truth - which is that Kubrick was assassinated six days after showing his final cut of Eyes Wide Shut to the studios, because it exposed far too much truth about their Satanic rituals and political power. Ron Swanson is only there to lampoon Kubrick's very real statements about government, so you don't start digging too deeply... and if you deny this, I can only logically conclude that you must be ONE OF THEM!
Really though, as much as I don't buy into those kinds of conspiracies, I will say two things: A) there is some extremely creepy imagery in that movie; B) nothing ever ends up in a Kubrick movie by accident.
