I'm a graphic artist in the prepress dept of a major printing corp. I work on financial brochures and hotel stuff (menus, door hangers, those little cards in the bathroom that tell you to reuse your towels cuz it saves water, and if you don't, you're a horrible horrible person ). BUT, I'd rather do something that benefits actual people/animals instead of big business pocketbooks, so I'd really like to venture into the veterinary field. Maybe start out as a vet tech and see how that goes... I love animals! ;D

Aside from being a college student, I currently am interning as a chemical engineer. Pretty much I do what I'm told cause everything that's done there is way over my head, but I've only been working there a week so maybe it'll get better.
Strumtheguitar: It will get better. Interning is great. I have an MS in Chem Engr and when I graduated I knew how to actually do nothing. But that's normal. A good mentor when you graduate is a big help. Interning should give you a good idea of what is really going on.
I teach intro biology at a university in Tx ....absolutely no job security but great vacation time!
Am thinking about a career change...I maybe would like to be on the faculty at a private high school where I can actually get to know my students, have them over to my home, go on field trips and make a difference! Gotta be private school though, since my major field is ..... dare I say....evolutionary biology! I don't think teachers are allowed to teach that kind of science here in Texas at public school.
anyhow, I would like to have students that care about the class they are taking....many freshman at the University are lax in their study skills (been there myself!) but then they plead and beg for a passing grade after failing every exam! Grrrr!
Whadda ya say? should I move to the private sector, better job security but more hours and committment or stay at the University level, no job security and little support, but great freedom and so-so benefits?
Just wondering...I figure all this great community could share a few ideas.
I sell stuff. For a BIG company. The building is Blue. The products have interesting names. I get to spend all day talking with people, answering questions and having a good time. IKEA's the @#$%!!!

I am a caregiver for mentally retarded people. I sleep the first four hours of my shift, blaze one, wake up a disabled chuck norris wanna-be fella and feed him medication and breakfast, then i go to the mall as he watches girls for an hour, go back to his house, blaze another, clock out...... day in, day out....same ritual. I love my job plus i get brownie points from everyone, but really i am just a baby sitter/bouncer.
I assist the founder of an online music service that connects musicians with festivals, venues, tours, etc. It's pretty stressful but most of the time I love it.
