^I have been having the same issue but mine should be just the right length by 'Roo, minus a few pieces here and there. Awesome idea with the scarves, Clairity! Thanks a bunch
I just got back from Kohl's and they have really really great dresses for Bonnaroo. This week they are Buy One Get One Free (works out about $20 each).
I got one for me and one for my daughter. Some of them are really thin cotton and perfect for hot days. I don't see either of them on their website - they have far more selection in store. Mine is floor length with a little flounce at the bottom and smocked across the chest. They had them in all colors and patterns.
I went by there on my way home from work and got two dresses. They may be like the ones you got, they sound similar. They have little built in bra cups for good support! One is green and flowery and the other is black with colorful flowers at the bottom. They are long but....YAY....not too long for me @ 5'1. I have never found long dresses that were the right length so I am stoked. I am going to wear one to work tomorrow with a tank top underneath to hide the excessive cleavage.
Thanks for the heads up on the sale! Bought hubby two new pairs of Roo shorts!
I posted this in another thread, but I have an Excel spreadsheet packing/checklist for Bonnaroo. If anyone would like a copy, please send me a PM with your e-mail address!

My friend got 2 of the ones with built in cups. I wish those would work for me but I am a 34D and they are not working for someone with boobs like that The one I got has the smocking all across the top and is white with brown, red and orange flowery patterns, and is longer than those. Mine is floor length and I am 5ft 4.

Thank the fabric Gods for smocked dresses... best things EVER

Indeed!! The do wonders for those of us who have huge boobies My dress actually makes it look I have boobs that are in proportion to the rest of my body......
fyi i have one of those bandeau bras and they are supersweatystiflinghot. but i go free most all the time so i hate bras in general.
i think i am finally finished with clothes for roo!! i finally found that sundress at target in my size, when i was visiting my mom saturday, and i found a cute smocked dress at walmart for $10 when looking for white shirts to tie dye with kiddo. (we did that yesterday and my hands are so purple!) i've got everything else i need (incl two karizas - haha) except maybe another bathing suit. i've put on weight and the only one that fits comfortably has a ring in the top that is not made to be comfortable all day. yuck. so, i need to find a cheap bathing suit and i am done.
decided to bring flip flops (sturdy), sandals with a heel strap (usually wear them to theme parks), and my chucks for at night.
does anyone else here have very long thick curly hair? it gets really hot and i am wondering what i can do to get it off my face without having to shove it in a bun like i always end up doing. usually for outdoor activities i end up putting it in two braids which might be nice during the day, and then i could take it down at night when its not 5000deg out. has anyone been to the garnier salon? i am wondering if they charge or what.....

I have long curly hair and the 2 braids is the best I can do with it. It gets real frizzy and is impossible to brush when it's dry. Last year I put conditioner in it dry and did a quick rinse which was real nice. I am bringing spray in conditioner this year so maybe I'll be able to brush it...
my hair is long but not thick and I like to keep it down during the day. I wrap a bandana or scarf on my head to keep it off my face/absorb the sweat, but then let the rest hang free so it will protect my neck and upper back. I think I'm just so hot from everything else that I don't notice my hair.

i am cutting off my hair on wednesday. pixie short. i decided i can't do the shoulder length at roo...every other year i've gone it's been super long and i can pull it back easily, but now it's in the growing out phase (from going pixie last summer) and i don't think i can handle it in the heat!

I have shoulder length curly hair, and I stick to the braids at Roo... and pretty much anytime in the summer. Heat and humidity are not kind to my hair. Braids and bandanas are my weapons!

I've done this before and wound up with a tan line where my hair was. It wasn't attractive.
I'm definitely rocking the ponytail or pigtails. My hair is SUPER THICK and dark brown. Going to keep it off me!
I rocked some princess Leia buns all week last year @ Roo. I wore them really low near the nape of my neck though so I could wear a floppy hat. It was a very Roo friendly hairstyle and it was cute too.

I wore my hair down the entire time at Roo and was fine... I also did not get any sunburn or noticeable tan, but that could be attributed to the fact I was down in Florida for a month before I went.
hair wraps, ftw! i have long (clean) dreads and they're hot as hell in the summer. i usually wrap it into a sort of ponytail, but my scalp is covered so i don't burn on my head. works great for me.
thanks for the advice! i will be bringing my floppy straw hat so braids will probably be the best option. my hair is nutso curly and very thick and long and dark brown as well so having it down will give the dreaded hair tan line. lol to see someone else has done that too. leia buns might be cute, i do them up high anime style sometimes but low might be cute. i always braid or bandanna or both or bun (old ballet fallback) but something different might be nice.
i didn't plan on brushing it at all while i am there, just letting it dread up a little, like i tend to do anyway. its impossible to brush without being wet and soaked with conditioner so i'm just going to rinse/wash it and forget about tryng to fight with a hairbrush since i know its a losing battle. ;-)

Your hair is very much like mine, except mine is currently a bit auburn and will be more reddish blonde by Bonnaroo. I have to do the buns or braids just for management and then a bandana or headband to keep the baby hairs from turning into twisted devil horns.
I hate washing my hair; it can only be done like 2 or 3 times a week anyways since it's so long and takes for-EVER to wash, condition and dry. However, dry shampoo spray is a life saver. I'm getting ready to order the SAMY brand shampoo spray from Ulta.com as the apothecaries and the actual Ulta store in the Boro do not have it in stock anymore. Combine it with some spray leave-in conditioner and a cruelty-free wave spray I picked up at Ulta to re-texturize my hair after sleeping, 5 minutes at most all together -- it works just as well as spending 30 minutes washing it and another 10 putting styling products in it.
Hey Ladies - Last night was my first sewing class - and I asked the instructor specifically about the smocked fabric - she said the best way to make a "pull-on-one-seam" dress from the half smocked/half not fabric - is to do a "French" seam down the back. she showed me, but it's difficult to explain. I googled "how to sew a french seam" and there seem to be a lot of options out there. Here's one from about.com: sewing.about.com/od/techniques/ss/frenchseam.htm

Just got this at Hancocsk Fabric yesterday...it's smocked fabric with lemons, oranges and limes all over it. Its probably meant for a little girls dress, but I'm making a cute top outta it ^_^
^Adorable, such pretty colors! I bought a few things at Target last night and a few things at the thrift store today. And hopefully some more skirts later on this week off various websites.... ;D I LOVE 'Roo shopping oh so much!
^I know, right?? I brought 4 dresses and 1 top... I wanted so much more, it took me an hour to narrow it down, but ultimately i decided they were all equally as cute and just went with the cheapest ones I was so disappointed in their lack of skirts though!
Found it at Ulta while looking for the SAMY dry shampoo spray (I do not like the ones they had in stock). It's David Babaii for WildAid "Bohemian Beach Spray." States it's cruelty-free and 10% of profits go to Wild Aid, so I was pretty happy and it works!
nice! I like wave spray for the summer - my hair kinda waves on its own, but definitely needs some encouragement. And cruelty free is always better. thanks!
