I was at a movie and before the movie I went to use the bathroom. As I was washing my hands, one of the stalls opened and low and behold it was Faye Webster. I wanted to play it cool and not be annoying but I wanted to say hi.
Well she must have seen my reaction in the mirror when I looked up from washing my hands because I made a surprised face and she just kept standing in the middle of the bathroom, staring at my reflection in the mirror.
Eventually I started to feel creeped out and as I was about to leave Faye went “wait.” But it wasn’t her regular voice, it sounded more like Bill Skarsgard doing the Pennywise voice.
Then she got down on all fours and crawled across the floor towards me at what I can only describe as a practiced and shocking speed.
I thought she was going to attack me, but right as she reached me she stood up and was like, super friendly. She said something like “what’s up, man. I’m Faye, what movie are you seeing?”
I was so surprised and confused I just said “Civil War.” And then she laughed super loud and was like “The Gar-man. Nice.” Then her face got super serious, like almost afraid and she just stared at me for like, 10 silent seconds. Then she said “you don’t think it’ll happen, do you?” I said “uh, I hope not” and then she walked out of the bathroom.
Later, I’m in the movie and I’m sipping from a Dasani water bottle and every time I take a sip, I hear someone making these cartoonish slurping sounds. I look over and see that Faye is sitting a few rows behind me and watching me (not even watching the movie) and making those sounds. Eventually someone from the theater came by and asked her to stop. She tried claiming that it was “diagetic sound in the movie” but they didn’t buy it.
After the movie Faye followed me into the lobby and asked “what did you think of the movie, James?” My names isn’t James but I felt too scared to correct her.
Me: “It was good—“ Faye: “Good”
Me: “I like Carey m-“ Faye: “Carey Mulligan”
She kept cutting me off and trying to finish my sentences so I just left.
When I got back to my car, someone had keyed “jinx” into the hood.
No but I haven't been back in a few months so I guess I missed the Faye Webster is evil plot. Hard disagree on that one, big fan here and I met her brother and her keyboard player at SXSW and they were cool. My friend toured with her as photo/merch. Big Faye Webster guy
I’m surprised her brother didn’t inform you that she is, in fact, performing at Bonnaroo this year.
Lmao, welcome back chubes, jackass of the day! That's great.
I didn't talk to him about Bonnaroo, he commented on my Clermont Lounge t-shirt and we started talking about Susto because he used to be a roadie for them.
predatory wasp will always go down as one of his best and impossible soul is a cool pick!!
Predatory Wasp is one of the best songs ever made, IMO. just absolute perfection.
"Impossible Soul" by Suf, "Emily" by Joanna Newsom, and "Come Down to Us" by Burial are my three all time favorite 10+ min one-track musical journeys to go on, wherein I've listened to them all countless times, but I can notice and feel something different/new each time somehow.
shoutout to BelgianCumCrabs for getting to introduce him to "Come Down to Us" for his first listen ever a couple months ago at the v end of a night on a weekend cabin trip with some peeps. we laid down on opposite sides of the living room floor and listened to it on super good full speakers with projected visuals on the wall, just the perfect way to experience that song

I didn't watch all the crossover sets from Coachella, but pop fans can probably rejoice (Renee Rapp, Chappell Roan). I understand the appeal of each but didn't like either show.
Otherwise, Batiste was good but who knows what he's going to do for Bonnaroo. I didn't get to watch Brittany, but I know the pedigree. Kruangbin was pretty fun last night. It was nothing unexpected, but it's good enough. Sid Sriram was entertaining and something I'd go to if I was in when he came on. I didn't like ISOKNOCK all that much (assuming that's Isoxo and Knock2 collaboration since that's who were up on stage), but I only saw bits and pieces. Maybe that's a surprise Bonnaroo late night or WITW collaboration or whatever. I thought Mdou was good again and something I'll be at. Militarie Gun was alright, but they're conflicted out for me.

i’m not sure what he’s expecting. he’s playing in his second most popular band in a non headlining set at coachella during the last wave of bands. if he’s so miserable at coachella then he should play the farm like he did in 2014 where the crowd loved him

Ya this totally wasn’t the vibe. Albarn seemed to be fucking with the crowd more than mad about it. Pretty intentionally played a set of fan favorites to a crowd he knew was not gonna know anything beyond Song 2 if that.

i see now. there have been other stories about this but it sounds like he’s being pigeonholed into sounding like a jerk when he knew how the crowd would be
Wow if Posty joins the peppas the set will be good. Maybe since JOhn FRusciante is back I haven't seen them with john frusicante so i'm looking forward to it.
Not sure which one it was, but Get off my Phone didn't hit either. Why they get on the What (the fuck) stage? There's already enough wuss and wimpy shit on the lineup.

I’ve been trying to forget it since I heard it but I think so. I have no clue, idk how bands are getting popular these days but people are somehow excited for this?? Idk
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
