You have been given the opportunity to curate the initial lineup for a festival in competition with some others. Any artist can be selected regardless of mortality or activity. If an act or artist played at least two live public shows of six or more songs then they are eligible.
NEW FOR INFINITY DRAFT EXCEPT IT ENDS WHEN DAVID BOWIE IS DRAFTED II: This draft theoretically has infinite rounds.
Winners will be decided by poll in elimination rounds. (Ties move on.)
The draft ends as soon as someone drafts David Bowie.
Rules
1) Once an artist or member of an act is considered fully drafted as noted above they are unavailable to anyone else however side-projects and solo artists from that act would still be eligible until separately drafted as long as their typical set contains no more than six songs by a previously drafted performer. If an artist is drafted in rounds eleven through fifty, a side-project or solo performance of more than six songs is eligible within the limited availability restrictions instead of selecting the exact same artist. For example, if Pink Floyd were drafted in round eleven then they would be eligible to be selected once more. Alternately, Roger Waters could be selected. At that point neither Pink Floyd nor Roger Waters would be available for the remainder of the draft. Alternately, if David Bowie is selected, the draft ends immediately.
2) One superjam is allowed (but not required) and will not take up a draft/free agent slot. If David Bowie is drafted before you have enough artists to make a superjam, you will not be able to make a superjam because the draft is over. Tough shit, superjams are stupid anyway.
3) Disputes handled via poll. Upon confirming receipt of dispute request, a poll will be put up and run for twelve hours. Polls can run seven days a week but no poll will start before 9AM or after 9PM Eastern. Drafting will continue while the poll is running. If a poll is a tie, the thing being disputed stands. No act will be polled if disputed more than twelve hours after selection or later. If David Bowie is drafted during the poll, both the draft and poll ends immediately, and we will have no resolution to the poll.
4) Once we have enough participants, draft order will be randomly generated for the first round and will continue as a snake draft. (I.e., the person with the last pick in the first round would have the first pick in the second round.)
5) Drafters have two hours to make picks between 9AM and 9PM Eastern. Any pick that starts after 9PM and before 8:59AM has until 11AM.
If a participant misses their pick, the draft will continue as if a pick was made and the participant can then select from any remaining acts at the time that they register their pick. If a player is still on the clock from a previous turn because their time expired without making a selection, then when their next turn comes around the twelve (or eight or three) hour wait for their turn is waived. A participant can make up a maximum of two picks - if they fall behind by more than two picks the additional picks are forfeit. If a participant misses a pick or two picks and before they can select make-up picks David Bowie is drafted, the draft ends and their picks are forfeit.
6) When you post your selection, identify who the pick is. (Do not assume that everybody else can recognize your pick from pic or gif - formatting issues sometimes make them unreadable.) In addition, tag the next person after you and the person going after them to keep things moving. If you draft David Bowie there is no need to tag the next person or the person "on deck" because the draft is over.
7) Trades are allowed. All participants must verify the terms of the trade. (Note: Trades are subject to dispute. In the event that a trade is believed to be unrealistically lopsided, a participant can call for a poll on the validity of said trade.) If you are in the middle of negotiating a trade when David Bowie is drafted, the draft ends and you cannot finalize the trade.
8) Theoretically infinite rounds of snake drafting.
9) No undrafted free agents because the draft just continues on until somebody drafts David Bowie, at which point the draft ends immediately.
10) Any rule changes prior to the start of the draft will be decided by me and updated in the OP.
11) Any rule changes after the start of the draft will require fifteen participant votes in favor prior to adoption. The rule that the draft ends when David Bowie is drafted cannot be changed.
12) A rule change cannot be instituted to change the process of changing rules or disputes. (E.g., no vote to assign a "ref.")
13) If an artist performs both solo and with a set band, then when one is drafted all iterations are off the table (except as allowed after round ten). For example, if Prince is drafted then Prince and the Revolution is off the table. However if Neil Young is drafted then Neil Young & Crazy Horse is off the table but not Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. As another example, if you draft Tin Machine, the British-American rock band formed in 1988 and fronted by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, then the draft ends.
14) If an act has multiple lineup configurations, the one drafted should be identified when drafted. Other configurations would then be off the table. For example, if you were selecting Van Halen then you verified that you were choosing the iteration with Gary Cherone, the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar VH's would be off the table.
15) Round Fifty-One allows for the selection of an act or artist who has never played live before. Artists or acts are deemed eligible for this round if they have released at least one studio album of seven or more different songs under their name and have only played one qualifying live show (or none) before. This round will have a different draft order determined by random.org. after the completion of Round Forty-Five.
16) In the event that a participant is unable or unwilling to complete the draft, a Supplemental Round will be established. All of that participant's selected artists would be available for selection in this round. The order would be random and would be established after whichever round follows the departure of the drafter. Only one supplemental round will occur regardless of the number of acts available. If fewer than twenty-five supplemental acts become available or if a drafter does not want to select a supplemental act then they may select any other available act. Unselected acts from the supplemental round are available as free agents. If David Bowie is drafted, the draft ends immediately and we aren't doing any of this rule.
17) If a drafter appears to be acting to the detriment of the draft, participants are able to request that drafter's removal. 60% "yea" votes required to remove a drafter. Only participants may vote and the votes are public. That participant's drafted artists would be moved to a supplemental round. Drafting David Bowie is not considered a detriment to the draft, and regardless as soon as David Bowie is drafted, the draft is ended and there will be no further selections, polling, or trades.
18) If a drafter may not be able to make their pick, they may select a proxy or proxies to select on their behalf. Proxies must be stated in thread.
19) When realistic, do not name unselected draft-eligible acts.
20) DESPACIO is not draftable. You'll have to live one draft without it.
21) The draft ends immediately when David Bowie is drafted.
it took like nine weeks to get 20 last time and some of them were fake. hoping we can get to 10, we have five now, maybe four pending the poll, and i'm not trying to get wayne coyne to read our draft order this time so we can get started right away once we get to 10.
