Totally, but if you told me this time last year they'd pull off Bad Bunny - BLACKPINK - Frank - Gorillaz - Bjork - Rosalia - Calvin I would've said the same thing. I think the 1-7 of this year and my '24 prediction aren't too dissimilar.
Except, it didn't nearly sell aswell as they thought they would. I don't even think getting Björk or Gorillaz pulled a lot of extra people over to go to Coachella.

Is this sarcasm? I don't think there was any noticeable difference in attendance between this year and previous years. Given price hikes, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the highest-revenue year in Coachella's history.

That guy said it sold crazy well.
I remember a lot of people saying that it didn't and that even W1 didn't sell out this time around etc. etc. Could be wrong ofcourse.

I think that talk was all before the fest, due to some tickets still on sale. But having gone to both weekends it definitely felt as crowded as ever, possibly the most crowded W2 I've been to at least since Beyonce.

I am the guy he's referencing, and I said this in the other Coachella thread too. I had a guest pass this year so met a lot of really interesting people and my wife and I had drinks with this guy for 15-20 minutes and his job is more or less overseeing ticket sales for Coachella (not a GV employee, I think they contract this out). He remarked that they were all celebrating this weekend because this is the most tickets they sold for W2 in a long time. He said W2 outsold even Beyonce W2. He said the demand was much higher than usual for this year and they got really close to a true sell out.
Why they left them out there instead of claiming a sell out? I don't know. I think the insinuation was what a lot of us thought might be going on, that W2 has never sold out and they just claimed it did in the past. This year they just left the tickets out like other festivals.
There was so much hand wringing on here and Reddit about the low demand for this year, we're all idiots because the opposite was true.
I also have to say that this year's W2 was PACKED. I didn't go last year but I can tell you that it definitely felt significantly more crowded than 2019. Even if I didn't meet this guy, you could tell it sold well. I was preparing for a lighter attendance year and the entire grounds were bustling.
EDITED TO ADD: And the above explains why there weren't a lot of tickets on StubHub - everybody was claiming collusion conspiracy theories LOL but there just weren't that many people selling their tickets. Also explains the crazy high camping pass resale market, the early VMT thing. I think some people were pissed about the direction of the lineup and were claiming it sold so terribly and everybody ran with it but internally they thought this thing was a huge success this year.

Aside from a couple obvious people desperate for quick sales, the ticket listers for weekend one and two never priced tickets below retail after Stub/Vivid/etc. fees. Shuttle passes barely hit a discount, camping sold out for Weekend Two...sneaky demand.

Second-line acts that would get me incredibly excited:
my bloody valentine FKA Twigs Kylie Minogue Robyn Missy Elliott Erykah Badu ANOHNI Wilco Iggy Pop Joanna Newsom Rilo Kiley Justice JPEGMAFIA x Danny Brown
Some more realistic predictions:
Lana as a sub A$AP Rocky James Blake King Krule Beach Fossils Wednesday
Also going to completely guess if Taylor does play that one of Bon Iver or The National is the second or third name on her day.
As for headliners would be happy if Shakira, Radiohead, Coldplay, Springsteen, JAY-Z, U2, Adele are surprises and top the bill, but realistically think SZA, Dua Lipa, Tyler, Post Malone, and Travis feel equally likely
Why is RATM pencil’d in for next year out of curiosity? Dua is a lock. And J Balvin & Tyler are both headliners or “returners” at this fest now and no less.

Election year. Also theres apparently holds on Oakland arena for April 2024.

Rumor is RATM are still planning to get back in the road to make up for their missed dates, including Coachella.
J Balvin is a sub at best. Tyler is a bit more tricky. I honestly don’t think he’s big enough to pull off headlining a day at Coachella so ideally he could sub or RTTD but not sure if he accepts that.
