hey guys...long time reader, firs time post...My 4th Bonnaroo. This is my first one since 05. I am wondering what the best type of canopy is, I am currently looking at a few, and need some advice. Wal-Mart has a nice easy pop up one for $80, and DICKS sporting goods as one for $60. They seem similar, but I want one that will be durable, and keep the shade out. Also, I want to buy a New York Rangers flag to hang up. What is the best way to put a flag up at Roo???? If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it, thanks!!
Yay for your first post! Anyway, I have that $60 Dick's shade tent and I love it. I think it's as sturdy as the high-end brands. I only regret not buying two - the closest Dick's is three hours from my house.

Last year was my first Roo and I dont think I will miss another. I was ahead of the game though on what to bring from goin to the Clifford Ball and every other summer Phish festival after not to mention several others BLAH BLAH BLAH but just wanted to say the one thing I never do with out is my hand held GPS. With phones having them built in and technology today they should be readily available nowadays. Everyone knows how it feels late night trashed trying to find your tent. I got lost for an entire night and finally gave up at 6 in the morn at the Great Went and just fell asleep under a truck. Since then "Dont Leave Home Without It" just mark your site and let it take you home. And while on the subject if you do have access to a GPS check out an oldy but goody at www.geocaching.com/ its a game thats alot of fun on road trips.

I live in Nashville and will be settting up shop in the lot. Last year bein so close we brought it all. We had a smoker, grill, 2 leather couches we got for free the night before, one of which took a trip across four lanes of traffic on I-65, 50 pounds of brisket etc etc. This year we will be bringing a flat top griddle and making pancackes topped with fresh fruit, veggie and chicken wraps, bottled water, jager shots, and possibly setting up a PBNJ bar with tons of different toppings ( a idea i might do in Nashville). If you find us and say BOOGNISH MOFO I will make sure you get hooked up. I will post my flag later this week. Prices will be the best around.
Alright, I spent literally hours last night exploring boards and I will definitely say I feel MUCH more prepared now. My best friend G and I are new to the 'roo this year and we're hittin it WIDE open. I appreciate all you guys for the advice and info!!
So I'm hoping that we get some really great neighbors since we're 'roo newbs who will kind of take us under their wing. Regardless I cannot WAIT for some good times, great music and new friends!!!!!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOOHOO!! What a ride!!!!"
I have not seen any reference here but I highly recommend a folding chair of some kind for the camp site. We did a lot of sitting around in the morning waiting for the music to start flowing and sitting in a comfy (relatively dry) canvas chair was nicer than flopping around on the ground.
Also, this is so obvious but think how much it would suck if you forgot this: YOUR TICKET! Hah.
this sorta happened to my roommate in '06; she lost the ticket and some radio dude felt sorry for her and gave her a free ticket. then she found her other one so she ended up making $150 and split it with us for dealing with the situation. it was my favorite bonnaroo.
MREs ( Meals Ready to Eat ) would be good for food. Those things pack allot of calories if your concerned about energy and they come with crackers and other things you could snack on. Just add water for the meal itself or you could eat it cold. Some like them some dont you can rat f*** them for stuff you like. My preference is beef ravioli. They go for about 7 bucks a piece unless you got a buddy in the military who could probably hook you up for free www.mreinfo.com/civilian/mre/civilian-mre-comparison.html
The showers you could always just take travel items to shower with. Travel shampoos and body washes wont be as bulky and its less you have to carry with you they are also about 50-99 cents a piece.
One thing Ive learned from my time in the military is if you take a "whores bath" which is what we call a baby wipe bath, rinse your hair with some shampoo, brush and floss your teeth every morning I swear to god you will feel like a new person everyday no matter how big or small the shower is.
Ozark trail has this item at walmart which is a multi spice shaker about the size of a small coffee cup comes with 6 spices in it and its about 3 dollars. Here is one simmilar to the ozark trail one www.campingsurvival.com/multispice.html

OK, here's the annual appeal for updates to the survival guide. So, basically, what needs updating, changing, removal, etc.? Looks good to me, but hey, I wrote the damn thing so I'm a bit biased. If the general guide doesn't need anything, is there another guide that could/should be written? I've the Guide, the flagpole guide and a 2 or 3 yr old version of the faq up. Anything else? If you don't ask, you'll never get it.
^^ There's been a couple of threads that have gone into much greater detail, but here's a quick summary. They start letting people in Wednesday afternoon/evening. However, people who arrive this early get parked in BFE (the absolute furthest campsite from Centeroo, kind of a penalty box). Sometime Thurs morning they start the normal parking routine, basically you might get parked anywhere (except BFE) could be 2 min from Centeroo, could be 35. No rhyme or reason that anyone has been able to determine as far as arrival time vs. where you're camped. I don't know when the changeover from BFE to normal happens, maybe someone else here does. I usually arrive in Manchester around 7-8am Thurs morn and by then the interstate line is so long that by the time I get to the gates it is 11ish. I know a lot of people hang out at the Manchester Walmart Wed. night, there's usually a discussion on the board about it when we get closer to 0 hour.

I would just like to say this whole website may make me lose my job...I believe for the past few weeks I have gotten NOTHING accomplished other than read and reread every thread on this thing! lol But in all seriousness, loving the site, loving the stories and tips, and cant wait for my first roo! Im ALMOST disappointed to be going VIP my first year (how can I truly enjoy VIP if I haven't "roughed it" first??) but this will be the bf's 5th and he is demanding the VIP, so I wont complain. :-D
And a side note, I showed this site to the bf...at first he was like, I dont need that, I'm a vet and I know what I'm doing! By the second or third post I showed him, it was "Oh, I never thought of that...." lol
Slightly random post, but Im a slightly random girl ;-)
