I hope jakicker doesn’t live downstream of Baton Rouge because the largest producer of Atrazine in the world happens to manufacture that stuff among other things at their manufacturing plant there…
Yeah our water here is terrible
If you transition in the next few years I promise I'll vote for RFK Jr in 2028

I’m glad others understand immediately where my kind of thinking was at. Obviously went over the head of the intended target.
I could potentially get cancer, develop reproductive issues, or gastrointestinal issues from the water. It’s not going to give me gender dysphoria, but nice try at making a joke that I ignored the first time
You live in Louisiana and don’t vote blue. You are not an environmentalist. You literally breathe some of the most polluted air in the world but you’re worried about carjackings and Biden’s age, all while your current preferred candidate continues to show everyone that he’s an unserious conspiracy whacko
I do live in Louisiana. I do vote blue, and I have voted blue in every single election since 2010 when I moved to Louisiana. I will very likely NOT vote for Biden in November, but that hasn't happened yet so..
I am not an environmentalist. I recycle and agree with environmental causes, but I have never donated to any of them or do environmentalist work. I've done some very minor volunteer work on some beautification projects, but yes I'm not an environmentalist.
I do breathe in polluted air and I can't do anything about that.
I'm a lot less worried about carjackings now because crime has gone down significantly since we've gotten our new NOPD superintendent. But as a person who has a baby in my car with me 50% of the time, carjackings are still a very real fear. I have legitimate fears about whether the carjackers would be kind enough to allow me to get into my backseat and quickly remove my baby before they stole my car. I cannot fathom how that is something you can hold against me unless you're an absolute moron.
I, as well as the majority of Americans, believe that Biden is too old to run for President. This is not a fringe opinion. I'm in the majority.
RFK Jr is taking his candidacy seriously. He has real and legitimate distrust for the government and government agencies, which leads to him having views that go against narratives given to us by the federal government agencies. That leads to people calling him a conspiracy wacko, which to some extent is accurate. But I also don't trust the government. His uncle was murdered by the CIA. Call me a conspiracy theorist for saying that, I do not care. The evidence is overwhelming. They probably killed MLK Jr, Malcolm X, and his dad, too.
What else do you got?
The dude is a total fucking clown, in so many ways. He's just another tool for some disenchanted voters to latch onto, even though he is deeply flawed on various levels. You gotta look at this all objectively, and not allow your bitterness toward Biden and Co. cloud your judgment.

Come on. At least get your conspiracy theories right. Everybody knows there’s much more evidence that the FBI was involved in Malcolm’s death over the CIA. Plus the NYPD, obviously.

Your boy's VP pick unsurprisingly has the same views on IVF as Alabama Republican judges.
As someone going through fertility treatments with their partner, anyone against IVF deserves pain, misery and suffering.
Some of her quotes in here are absolutely wild.
“Personally, I find it crazy that my reproductive organs are considered geriatric long before any other organ even begins to show the slightest decline,” Shanahan said in an interview with the Marin Independent News. “I find it even crazier that we have conceded to this narrative for half of the human species.”
Health risks associated with pregnancy after 40 are very well documented. This isn’t the medical establishment lying to you.
“It became abundantly clear that we just don’t have enough science for the things that we are telling and selling women,” Shanahan told the Australian Financial Review. “It’s one of the biggest lies that’s being told about women’s health today,” she said.
What’s the biggest lie? That 2% of children are born through IVF?
She questioned the financial incentives involved in fertility treatments, telling the New Yorker, “Many IVF clinics are financially incentivized to offer you egg freezing and IVF and not incentivized to offer you other fertility services.”
I don’t know what the financials are for these clinics, but every single woman ive known who’s done IVF has worked their way up through less expensive/invasive options first. No one jumps right to IVF.
“I’m not sure that there has been a really thorough mitochondrial respiration study on the effects of two hours of morning sunlight on reproductive health. I would love to fund something like that,” Shanahan said to a 2023 panel with the National Academy of Medicine, a group to which she had previously donated $100 million.
The statement was met with chuckles, “Yeah, let’s do it,” she added. “I just have an intuition that could be interesting and maybe work.”
????
Then there’s this quote from the guy who were supposed to vote for because of his superior mental agility
Kennedy has not weighed in on IVF access, and has made conflicting comments about abortion access. At the Iowa State Fair, Kennedy, 70, said he supported a ban on abortion after 15 or 21 weeks of pregnancy, but then his campaign said he misunderstood the question and does not support such a ban
How could you possibly misunderstand the question that badly?
This is so English. "Sure, Monty Python is the funniest thing that's ever happened, but we must remember to respect the divine right of kings. That is not funny business."
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

Honestly I can understand where @jakicker is coming from considering they live in New Orleans, a city controlled by Democrats consistently since the 1870's (when Republicans were the leftist party). Mitch Landrieu aside, NOLA has endured shit representation under Democratic mayoral administrations in the 21st century between Ray Nagin (went to prison for grifting) and the current mayor LaToya Cantrell (also involved in borderline grifting).
Its a bit of a double edged sword, as most anyone left-of-center with means and motive is likely to have moved away to greener pastures in another state, leaving remaining Democrats to do the best they can with whoever wants to run for office that isn't blatantly opportunistic. Republicans have also gone out of their way to gerrymander state gov districts in their favor, along with making sure voting is hardly straight forward compared to states like Colorado, Washington and Oregon where you get a ballot in the mail by default.
Bottom line: voting for a 3rd party POTUS candidate without broad appeal is dumb as hell.

This is an extremely accurate description of the local situation.
Except I still don’t agree that my POTUS vote matters because we are an extremely RED state that will never go blue in a presidential election. We had a really decent moderate Dem governor for 8 years with John Bel Edwards, but never remotely close in national races.
Btw, and this isn’t directed at you tronic, making fun of people and calling them idiots or dumbasses will never get them to see your side of an argument. Y’all really need to figure out a better way to convince people to vote Blue No Matter Who rather than just saying they’re stupid. The election might actually be close enough to matter where you live

This is the same shit in 2016 that led to Trump winning the election. A bunch of people on the left calling anyone willing to vote for Trump on the right an idiot, rather than coming up with any reason for you to vote for their candidate. I was in college at the time, and I remember telling everyone in my government class that if they didn't take his candidacy seriously then he was going to end up in office, and nearly got laughed out of the room. The man has the Republican nomination, meaning that almost half of this country is going to vote for him just because of the R next to his name. The Trump side is absolutely doing an amazing job of discrediting the democrats, because pretty much every independent I know who's on the fence still jokes about "Sleepy Joe Biden." I just wish either party would get out of its own way and nominate someone under the age of 75 so I could be confident they won't die in office. If Biden gets elected again, he'll be 86 by the time he leaves office. Meaning more than likely, he'll die in office and leave us with Kamala Harris as president and I know it's fucked but that will influence quite a few votes.

The reasons to vote for Biden are pretty straightforward, I’d rather have him be president than any of the other candidates.
His environmental plans have been the most substantial thing any American president has done to even try to provide a livable planet for my children. This is something Republicans have promised to erase if put in power.
He’s not openly hostile to gays, trans folks, or women’s rights. Extremely low bar but the opposite of Trump and RFK.
It’s weird to give him credit for the economy but conditions here are better than basically anywhere else in the world. He deliberately bucked the “we need a recession and significant unemployment to tame inflation” consensus, and sent direct aid to folks to help them ride out the inflation wave and correctly predicted it wouldn’t trigger a full recession. Republicans were united against providing that aid to families.
I was one of the millions of people who received significant student loan relief, so points for that. I know he under delivered on his promises here but what he did manage to do faced opposition from the entire Republican Party, the Supreme Court and even pockets of the Dem Party.
Also stepping up anti-trust enforcement has been a small but positive change under his administration that would be completely reversed under Trump.
I support the way he handled Ukraine.
I do not support his response to Oct 7, but based on Trump’s coziness with Israel and RFK’s comments on Gaza I don’t think voting for them instead would benefit a single person in Gaza.
And while I’m concerned about Biden’s age I don’t think it has had a meaningful effect on his presidency. He’s surrounded himself with qualified and competent people (again, opposite of Trump and RFK), and I think a lot of the gaffes he gets called out for are the same types of weird things he’s always said. He called Obama “Barack America” one time back in 09! Meanwhile Trump and RFK spout made up bullshit all the time, you can’t trust a word that comes out of their mouth. I’ll take Biden’s occasional flub over that any day.

But this isn’t an Aaron Sorkin movie and actually articulating why I’m voting for Biden isn’t gonna stop people like jakicker from Voting for RFK’s dumbass.
