Shep Smith is leaving Fox news. Shortly after Barr had a meeting with Rupert Murdoch. The "news" part of Fox news is getting lighter. If Chris Wallace is gone soon then it's basically just the hateful opinion and spin channel.
I’m worried this China deal is going to be big for Trump.
I would hope the only people dumb enough to have not seen how terrible the trade war has been for so many people in the affected industries are already hardline Trump supporters. And I doubt this "deal", if it actually even occurs, will be in any way beneficial to our economy.
I was really hoping this state would surprise us all by re-electing a democratic governor, a man who has been extremely bi-partisan and moderate as well as successful, without having to go to a run-off. But instead, he gets 47% and a run-off against fucking Cotton Hill, a guy who is literally pretending to be Trump. John Bel Edwards will most likely win re-election, but every other major election went republican and the state overwhelmingly voted against an New Orleans-specific amendment because this red fucking shitty state hates us. I fucking hate elections
In case anyone cares, or wants to know, Nashville is home to the largest population of Kurds in the US. Many are my customers. Here is what they think of the current situation.
One phrase in particular appeared several times: "No friend but the mountains."
"It resonates with every Kurd," Sharef said. "Our history is of betrayal, at its core. Over and over again the Kurdish people have to seek refuge in the mountains and raise arms again."
Oh sure, let's replace him with a guy whose entire platform is that he has a hard on for Trump. Smart plan. 👍🏼
How many people's human rights are you willing to trade away to increase the institutional power of the democratic party?
Women, sure. Trade away their right to bodily autonomy. Gotta hold that governorship.
Who else?
You don't live here, bro. The choice is a pro-life democrat who expanded Medicaid for thousands of residents, turned a deficit into a surplus, got teachers a raise for the first time in forever, saved the TOPS program, etc etc or Eddie Rispone.
Google Eddie Rispone. Watch his ads on YouTube.
We are a state that is very catholic and very pro-life. You'll never be elected as a democrat with a hard pro-choice stance. It sucks and it's an awful truth. I hate Edwards' stance on the issue.
But we used to have Bobby Jindal as our governor. Edwards is leaps and bounds better. It's the best our mostly stupid state is going to get. Rispone is an absolute nightmare.
I'm a pretty hardline lefty, but at the same time - you kinda need to do some level of harm reduction as well.
If you have the option of a progressive left candidate vs. some corporate whore that's pro-life - I'm going progressive. If my only two options are corporate whore vs. some MAGA asshole - unfortunately, gonna go with the thot.

Which of your, personal, human rights are you willing to trade away in order to increase the institutional power of the Democratic Party?
Try to answer without falsely implying that I support Rispone. This is a question about the bigger picture of whether the party is willing to have a bare minimum standard for itself
Having candidates in the party that publicly betray your principles/morals depresses the base's turnout and further spreads voter apathy.
You know the problem of massive voter apathy within the Democratic base? It's a direct consequence of letting amoral sociopaths publicly triangulate their way to increasing their own personal power instead of fighting for what's right.

And further, this cursed strategy is not flipping Republican voters. Given a choice between a democrat that bans abortion, and a republican that bans abortion and hates minorities, they'll make the same choice every damn time.
