I think MGMT are 3/4 with self titled being the only one I don’t care about.
interesting take but I enjoy their self titled album more than Congratulations. But I’d agree most people like Oracular, Congratulations, and LDA from their discog.
MGMT were a band I was never that into but always got played at parties freshman and sophomore year of college so almost any time I hear a song of theirs I get an intense sense of painful nostalgia and I absolutely hate them for it but bravo.
Never seen em. Don't particularly care to. Would probably cry multiple times during their set if I went.

Electric Feel is still my go to if I have aux around people I don’t know

Electric Feel is the one I liked even back then. Justice remix ftw.

They remind me of the same years of my life, but I feel it in a positive way, so I love them. The emotions attributed to music is very powerful on overall enjoyment or lack there of.
Wasn't that big on Congratulations either. I was expecting a lapse in quality again
Congratulations is my favorite MGMT record
Didn't like it much when it came out but it's continued to get better and better with age imo
For some reason the only one I can enjoy start to finish is surprisingly Little Dark Age. I like the handful of singles from the first album but can't get into it besides that. Maybe I'll have to check out Congratualtions again though
One of the trippiest sets I ever did see at Bonnaroo was Goat at like, 2:30 on Sunday.
Man that was such a good lineup. Everytime I look at the lineup I find another dope artist that I missed out on that year. Made some roo-kie mistakes that year but that still ended up being my favorite Roo so far.
Congratulations is my favorite MGMT album. I think over time it will be regarded as a classic in a similar way Beastie Boys Paul’s Boutique or Weezer’s Pinkerton are. Both were trashed by critics and fans upon release and were considered sophomore slumps not meeting expectations. But today people rave about those records.

Agreed, I never understood the hate. Thought it was quite the step up from Oracular

I saw them at the Hollywood bowl the day after I got back from 2 years in China, I can't begin to define how many thousands of times I played through OS and Climbing to new Lows while living there, then Congratulations dropped and it was like magic. I was feeling so out of sorts and alienated from the moment I got on that plane to come home up until my brother told me what we were about to show up to. We drank and I sang my heart out to every song. It wasn't the best show I'd ever seen, but it was so very needed at a time when I didnt really understand why I was feeling so out of place back in my home country. It was cathartic for me, and if they've improved their live show it's almost a shame because their awkward presence and self imposed distancing on stage made me feel a way that really helped me work through what I was experiencing at the time in a form of empathy that I think is really rare. Thanks MGMT!
I thought of putting them on my mock for Friday, but decided that was more boring than putting MCR in there 🤷🏻♂️ so that’s probably what we’re getting
I love this extended intro to Elephant that Tame came up with later in the tour; made the beginning impact that much better. Can't wait to see this on the What stage, probably with somehow even better visuals. I felt this video in particular really captured how amazing this song was live on this tour.
Also, I think it's pretty essential to get towards the center so you are under the lasers, rather than off to the side where they lose all their impact.
