I'd say Muse is more realistic from a booking perspective (esp since FF had 'em this year) but after they hit so many US stops this year, idk if they'll still be hangin' around come spring next year.

lol but why. they're just meh to me but i havent seen them since 2011. never been able to see muse on the other hand. plus we always have a UK headliner since Gv took over. 2017- mumford 2016- florence 2015- sam smith
Yeah, it was a good lineup (also with plenty of crap acts as is to be expected). The suckage was the rainout Sunday. I got to go to Shoal Creek and watch the Patriots defeat the Saints in a payback game where they stepped on our throats and played our game by not letting off the gas. I was appreciative since I'd seen the Saints do that since Payton became the head coach.
Atoms for Peace free night show helped make up for the lack of a Sunday fest day. Many 2013 lineups were great. That was a killer year for festivals. Definitely my favorite Hangout lineup by far (Petty, Stevie, Trey Band, Black Crowes, Kendrick, Gov't Mule, Jim James, Public Enemy, moe., Galactic, etc.). Shit, Kendrick was on line 3. Ellie Goulding and Imagine Dragons were on line 4.
A few other 2013 trips down memory lane:
Bonnaroo - Paul McCartney, Petty, Bjork, Pretty Lights, Wu Tang, Tosh.0, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Animal Collective
Voodoo - Pearl Jam, NiN, The Cure, Dr. John Real Night Tripper
Wakarusa - WSP, Dispatch, STS9, Black Crowes, UM, Quixotic, Tipper, Del TFH
etc. Hey festival promoters - turn that f'n clock back

I'm over this whole "fests aren't like they used to be." It's been discussed all around the boards but I think ACL, which I usually have little desire to go to due to crowd size, has knocked it out of the park w 5 solid headliners. It is sacrificed a bit on the next line or two, but the undercard is completely full of solid acts and new talent.

I am having a fantastic musical year and have few if any complaints. Having said that, Hangout definitely has shifted away from the type and style of music I enjoy to the point it is 30% or less of the lineup. But for $239, an amazing venue, some awesome friends, seafood, and other perks, it can't be beat. I am looking forward to Pilgramage festival in September. That lineup blew me away. Bonnaroo held its own with 15-20 undercard bands I wanted to see and U2.
I'm playing an acoustic duet set tonight. Also breaking out the new Les Paul. Life is good.

This will be the first fest I've been to where there is (presumably) a headliner I am legit looking forward to each night. Everywhere I go there's always a dud. From there, yea it seems like there is something lacking in line 2/3, but the rest of the lineup has so much I want to see that I have no qualms overall. If every fest could copy something similar, I could live a happy fest life.
This might be a little easier... Who are 5 realistic acts for this fest that would be in the top 2 lines that people absolutely do not want? There's obviously going to be some garbage but these would be big turn-offs for me...

I'm fine with the bolded. I don't think Galantis would be top 6. Probably just outside it. Tent closer oppo a bigger main headliner. I know they're up there at Voodoo but Voodoo also has a huge/expensive top 4. Foster the People would probably sub headline again too so they wouldn't be top 6.
On Calvin for krisp: I don't hate the guy. He's the biggest pop edm producer and has some undeniable bangers. But I hate his price tag and the fact that u know he's top 3 at this stage. If he was in the Skrillex spot closing Surf, I could swallow that pill a little easier because there are more alternative options.

Ouch. Gear up people. You KNOW Imagine Dragons will be the Hangout/Firefly crossover for 2018. We can fight it all we want, it's happening.
I don't know a single person who listens to them anymore. Like those of us who listened when they came out in 2013 don't anymore, and most of the people I know who don't care about half the undercard acts we like and just listen to the radio, don't listen to them either. Maybe it's a Chicago thing? I just never hear anyone talk about them or pursue seeing them live.

With as bad as WayHome is doing, would anyone want to chance them as a headliner next year?
That's the only remaining hope for dodging that bullet. But if Imagine Dragons has already been booked for a while for 2018 (certainly possible), they may not have even had that knowledge.
