i still think the B1G Champ will jump Michigan and Ohio State will fall from 2-5.
I can't see Ohio State falling out of the playoff picture. I do think the B1G winner will jump Michigan, but will need a Colorado win to make the playoff.

The bottom of the Big Ten isnt good enough to justify two teams from the conference. The opponents Penn St played after OSU had a combined 12-34 record. They also best nobody out of conference (youre welcome).
I love the playoff, I am very leery about the use of a committee. My worst nightmare was King Barry Alvarez smoking cigars and telling Condi Rice who to vote for.

Daft Punk has a better chance of running the superjam then Ohio State does at dropping out. Them saying "Washington and Michigan are razor thin in difference" is already setting them up the situation to possibly put Michigan in if Washington or Clemson loses and the Big 10 ship is ugly. There's a 0% chance OSU gets bumped.
I think Kiffin is the name that is going to be brought up for every major opening until he officially announces his plans. As soon as the coach there was fired, I remember seeing Kiffin brought up as a potential replacement at Fresno State. He's one of the names that keeps getting brought up as Orgeron's offensive coordinator (which is a little less outlandish now that they have made Aranda the country's highest paid coordinator). It may just be the default for Saban's longer tenured coordinator as we should all remember how Smart got brought up for tons of shit for years before going to Georgia, but I can also see it as a little more likely after Saban brought in Sarkisian who could serve as an easy replacement especially since Saban has been able to watch him this entire season to make sure he is keeping his shit together. As far as Oregon goes, Kiffin has west coast ties. It's a high profile program which would allow him to be a little cockier than Saban does. Also, I can't help but think that Kiffin would like to get back to the Pac-12 to stick it to USC as often as possible.

I think I remember hearing that Fresno is Kiffin's alma mater, which is why he was connected there. Also, people say that Kiffin and Orgeron are best friends and that is why Kiffin would leave Alabama for LSU. The chatter among CFB reporters seems to be growing louder so maybe it is true, though I have a hard time believing it. Frankly, I think Kiffin would wake up with his prize race horse's head in his bed if he were to even contemplate leaving 'bama for LSU.

I highly doubt that VT beats Clemson. I'd love it, but I dont they VT has the talent to keep up.
Colorado has a shot, but Petersen is such a good coach in big games I think Washington will be ready and I think they have the talent advantage.
Listening to them talk on the CFP show last night, I don't think the B1G champs get in over Michigan if Clemson/Washington get upset, and Colorado won't jump a Michigan team that beat them.

Going to my first bowl game this year, the Music City bowl in Nashville. Taking my girlfriend for New Years, as the main attraction for the trip is John Prine/Jason Isbell/Kacey Musgraves on NYE. We first thought about going to the Predators game Thursday night but found it was a lot easier and cheaper to go to the bowl game.
As of now, CBS is projecting: Iowa vs. Kentucky, USA Today is projecting: Minnesota vs Tennessee and Sports Illustrated is projecting: Minnesota vs. Georgia. I would be fine with anything other than Tennesee, as we have no interest feeling like we are watching a game at Neyland.

To further this, Kiffin is now one of the names coming up a lot for Houston.

Little late to the Big Ten discussion, but if Clemson or Washington does get upset this weekend I don't see a scenario where the Big Ten does not have two teams in the playoff. The real question is, if that happens does the winner this week in the Big 10 title game pass Michigan? I think basing off of resumes they should, but I know Michigan would give Bama a much better game compared to PSU or Wisconsin.

WHAT? Neither wisconson or PSU have a better resume than Michigan.
UM is 3-1 against the CFP top 10, with that loss being in double OT.
Wisconsin is 0-2 against the top 10, and 1-2 against the top 25. With a loss to Michigan.
Penn state is 1-1 against the top 10, 1-2 against the top 25. With an embarrassing loss to Michigan.
If Colorado beats Washington, it means Michigan will have beaten the Pac12 and B1G champions.
The B1G champion has to look dominant in their game, hope for a VT win, and Washington to blow out Colorado (UM beat CO 45-28) to have a shot at jumping Michigan. CFP will have to weigh winning the B1G championship more than UM's better resume, the H2H results, and the eye test. I don't think there is anyway that PSU can make the CFP. They got absolutely curb stomped by Michigan. Wiscy at least played it close against them.

Maybe I'm old school but I still think winning your conference championship should be the top priority and be the first thing you look at when determining who goes to the playoff.
If you have 11-1 Ohio State, 10-2 Michigan, and 11-2 conference champion Penn State, then Penn State, who beat Ohio State and beat both teams Michigan lost to (Iowa and Ohio State), plus WON THE CONFERENCE, should get in over both. Then if crazy happens after that, then we can look at whether or not there is an argument for 2 B1G teams.
It also needs to be taken into account how you were playing over the course of a season. Michigan beat Penn State in week 4. The team Michigan beat in week 4 is not the same Penn State team now.

if winning your conference were the criteria, then they would just take the 4 highest ranked conference champions. As it stands, they put together a committee to choose the 4 best teams, and conference championship is just a factor in that.
if you really think PSU is a better team than Michigan, you're as "blind" as Joe quacking Paterno.

I'm okay with this IF it means a Penn State champ would get in over OSU. But I can't do the mental gymnastics necessary to get to OSU and the Big Ten champ getting in over Michigan. Michigan beat PSU and Wisco. Plus the whole "Penn State was a different team in week 4" doesn't work for me either. Speight was playing with a broken collarbone in both Michigan's loses, which should equalize whatever excuse Penn State uses to justify dropping two early.

I agreed with you before the playoff format existed, but that scenario is a lot easier to swallow now that there is a path for arguably undeserving teams to prove themselves. I still have some issue with a non-conference champion getting in over a conference champion, but the CFP rankings look pretty accurate to me based on the fact that it considers the full picture rather than just technical achievements, and I'm fine with that being the litmus test. Of course, this could all be solved by simply expanding the playoffs to 8 teams.

In my opinion, if Penn State wins the B1G and does not get in the playoff, than the CFP is just as much a failed method as the BCS and should be expanded to 8 teams.

Penn State played Michigan back in September. They're the only team that has beat Ohio St, which the committee thinks is the 2nd best team in the country. Even though they have played a bunch of shitty teams since OSU, they have virtually blew every one of them out of the water (which include teams like Iowa, who beat Michigan and MSU who lost by a single point to Ohio St.)
I'm fine with Michigan getting the nod over the Big Ten champ if the situation occurs, cause I know PSU nor Wisconsin couldn't* hold a candle to Bama (and I have no rooting interest in the Big Ten)...but if that happens then what was even the point of the conference championship game or having the title "conference champ"?

This is all pretty ironic. The only reason Penn State is even in the Big Ten Championship is because of a H2H tiebreaker. But we're also supposed to believe H2H doesn't matter if the game happened in week 4.

That and Penn State's second loss was to an ACC team. If they had lost to a team with a similar record in the Big Ten (Minnesota/Iowa), they wouldn't even be in the championship game.

If Michigan wanted to get in the CFP they shouldn't have lost to Iowa and Ohio State, and if Ohio State wanted to get it they shouldn't have lost to Penn State.
Penn State did what they were supposed to go to get in the B1G Championship and if they win their conference, which I believe was the best in the country this year, than Penn State should be in.
