Man. Things are getting wild. The crux of the story seems to be that Hurd felt he was not the best fit for the scheme Jones was running and had long term durability concerns with the way he was being used. He wanted to transfer after last year, but Jones supposedly made promises about running more plays out of the I which he has not followed through with. Hurd made the decision to go through with the transfer after Jones did not follow through with promises and it being brought to Hurd's mind after he has been hampered with injuries almost the entire year. I want to be mad at Hurd, but I would be pissed if I was in his place. If I was another school, I would come hard with a TE offer as Hurd has the ability to be a great one.
Like what? Not believing Kentucky could play for a championship? Or not believing my team will win by 28, because they've been playing down to the competition?
The Kentucky thing. I'm just trying to have some fun with hypotheticals over here.

Tee Martin was right all along. #soft
He would definitely be a better TE, though.
He won't be a better TE unless he learns better pass protection.
I do think he was misused as a RB though. He is a power runner and would have done well running between the tackles behind a fullback. but it seemed like a lot of times he would bounce outside. I don't know if thats because our offensive line isn't able to make holes (and has somehow been worse than last year) so it's a designed outside run or if hurd is just trying to make a play.
First Committee Rankings 1 Alabama 8-0 NR 2 Clemson 8-0 NR 3 Michigan 8-0 NR 4 Texas A&M 7-1 NR 5 Washington 8-0 NR 6 Ohio State 7-1 NR 7 Louisville 7-1 NR 8 Wisconsin 6-2 NR 9 Auburn 6-2 NR 10 Nebraska 7-1 NR 11 Florida 6-1 NR 12 Penn State 6-2 NR 13 Louisiana State 5-2 NR 14 Oklahoma 6-2 NR 15 Colorado 6-2 NR 16 Utah 7-2 NR 17 Baylor 6-1 NR 18 Oklahoma State 6-2 NR 19 Virginia Tech 6-2 NR 20 West Virginia 6-1 NR 21 North Carolina 6-2 NR 22 Florida State 5-3 NR 23 Western Michigan 8-0 NR 24 Boise State 7-1 NR 25 Washington State 6-2 NR
I think the top 3 is pretty good. You could definitely make the argument Michigan should be #2 since Clemson has played a lot of tight games, but it really doesn't matter since it's not like they are playing for home field advantage in the playoffs. At once, I think their reasoning for putting A&M above Washington is lame since I don't think South Carolina and Tennessee are as quality wins as the committee wants them to be. On the other hand, I don't see much on Washington's schedule that is helping convince me they deserve it more. If A&M's loss hadn't been to the #1 team or it had been closer, I think the answer would be more clear.

By the committee's logic, Pitt has played damn near the hardest schedule in the nation. Losses to #18 on the road by 7, #19 at home by 3, and #21 on the road by 1 (last second too), plus a win over #12 PSU.
Pitt's 3 losses have been by a combined 1/3 the amount that #12 PSU lost to Michigan.

Wish I was in Blacksburg today. Not only do they have the opportunity to clinch a spot in the ACC title game today, the basketball team had the first game of the year last night.

MAXIMUM CHAOS:
So theoretically, the following scenario plays itself out.
1. Minnesota wins out, winning the B1G West. 2. Michigan loses The Game, handing PSU the East. 3. Auburn wins out, winning the SEC West 4, Kentucky wins out, winning the SEC East. 5. Washington loses the Egg Bowl, handing WSU the PAC-12 North. 6. Colorado wins the PAC-12 South. 7. Clemson Clemsons, and either loses out, or just loses to both Pitt and Wake. This gives UL the Atlantic. 8. VT stumbles at the finish line, losing to GT and UVA. This gives UNC the Coastal. 9. The B12 and G5 are fucked anyway.
So IF ALL THAT PLAYS OUT, here are the relevant conference championship games.
1. PSU v Minnesota 2. Louisville v North Carolina 3. Wazzu v Colorado 4. Auburn v Kentucky
After all that, you have the following teams vying for the 4 CFP spots:
Winner of PSU/Minnesota Winner of Louisville/UNC Winner of WSU/Colorado Winner of Auburn/Kentucky Alabama Michigan Ohio State Washington
Pick the conference champions, the 4 CFP teams, the matchups and the eventual CFP champion.

You know, you really shouldn't give the guy who stole our story on Von any burn. #traitor
All kidding aside, would you wanna cover the game against Mizzou? We got creds and I can't go.
I probably should have just called you about this.

I don't think I could make it there with the lady getting back into town that day. I appreciate the offer for sure.
For those who don't know, potentpotables and ncbst3 are both at that Clemson-Pitt game. As bad as I feel for our Clemson people, I feel great that they were both able to be there for a huge victory for their team.

It seems I was fortunate to miss today's titanic struggle.

Granted they would have only been #10/11 in the upcoming CFB playing ranking, this all makes the VT loss tougher to swallow. If they would have won today and ran the table (remaining games include ND/UVA/Clemson) then we would have quite possibly made it in the top 4.
I believe you will end up seeing in some order: Bama - OSU/Michigan winner - Clemson - UL
