That'd be a huge hire for them, but I think Miles is gonna be that name that comes up again and again this year.
But where else does it make sense? Texas? FSU if Jimbo leaves for LSU? USC? Oregon? I can't really see any other jobs for him other than mid-level Big Ten jobs, which he should be OK with. He'd instantly make Purdue respectable and competitive, he's a recruiting dynamo (which the Boilers have lacked for a long time), and he's from Ohio and a Michigan guy obviously. The Boilers have to ante up and pay the man.
Meanwhile, rumors are that Jimbo is going to stay at FSU (after he was ready to leave for LSU last December), and that Tom Herman has eyes for the Texas job. Where does that leave LSU? With Coach O - and that's how a program with every advantage in the world sinks to mediocrity or worse. College football is 80% head coach and 15% quarterback.
An interesting thing I saw today was speculating about Kiffin to Oregon...
That's also assuming those rumors comes to fruition. Just can't see Miles jumping in with another school this early in the process. It's a reasonable possibility that Texas, ND, and Oregon all have upcoming openings.
If Purdue somehow pulled that off, it would be a home-run for them.

It's hard for me to see Texas or Notre Dame hiring a guy who was just fired. I think Les is perfect for a place like Purdue. Oregon seems like a bad fit for Les, I think Kiffin is intriguing there, assuming they won't jump the gun and hire Scott Frost too soon.

Another seeming possibility would he something like UNC if Fedora gets another job (can't figure out where he'd go,but it's fun to speculate).

Les is also 62. Hard to imagine wanting to build a team like Purdue from the ground up in the fertile recruiting ground of bumblequack Indiana in the twilight of your career. Cutcliffe is the same age and he seems to be doing all right over at Duke, but he's already had a few years there already. I don't see why Les would want that job, though I don't think Texas or Notre Dame are likely for him either.

Pretty quiet around here for it to be 3:30 on a college football Saturday. Granted the only game that is close right now that I can find on TV is Cuse/BC.
I was at the VT/Miami Thursday night game, ran into Beamer and Jesse Palmer. Looking forward to the big game this upcoming Thursday potentpotables! I was at last years titanic struggle, which best I remember was in the rain.

Pretty boring day. Maybe A&M will make this game more exciting, but probably not.

Plus UT and Clemson are not playing today. A&M is fortunate not to already be down 20+, the defense has held them twice in the red zone to FG's.
Keeping an eye on the WVU/TCU game. First time this year West Virginia has played a top 50 team.
You just can't make mistakes against Bama. A&M had just taken the lead and had Bama stopped 3 and out but hit the qb late. Bama drives and scores. Then you turn it over and they score. Then it's roll damn Tide.
Penn State and Ohio State play each other at football. Who wins?
Nobody.
10 years ago, I would've pulled for Penn State.
Now I was only hoping there's some small loophole in the rules that allows both teams to lose.
I was very much having an internal battle the entire game. Which do I hate more OSU or PSU? It was OSU. Plus Pitt already beat PSU so by Sang logic that means Pitt is better than OSU.

Seriously Ohio St sucks so much. I root for them one time a year, and I root for one thing - the Bucks to crush Penn St souls. Effin Buckeyes. I hate you.

I will be there, hail to Pitt! I think it should be a good game, don't know what to expect out of the Hokies.
Wow, so that is how Penn State won?! Yes, I have been working and Hula prep and delayed in seeing this. Oh my! The irony of Meyer losing that way is beautiful and very rewarding to watch. to the Nittany
