even if his album is huge and bumps him up that far I don't see Roo booking him.
If Frank Ocean tours and does festivals next year, it'd be ridiculous for Bonnaroo to miss out. I mean they booked him in 2014 when he had like no other shows at all that year. He'd be a perfect returning act, why wouldn't Bonnaroo book him?

Because they booked him when no one else did and no one showed up.

Because Bonnaroo regularly missed acts that would make sense. I'd support him playing. Hell a top 4 of Fleetwood Mac/ Arcade Fire/ Frank Ocean/ Beck Would probably move a ton of tickets (if this album makes him huge) but it's just too good to be true. I would say we are more likely to have something like Biggest get/ Arcade Fire/ Phish/ Chance/ Avett Brothers

Were you not there or something? I'm not sure why you keep saying this. He was up against Jack White, Skrilly SJ, Flaming Lips, Nick Cave and still filled his tent.

I mean the album coming out Friday and the possibility of him touring seems too good to be true at this point. But if all that did happen, it'd be a huge miss for Bonnaroo not to get him. Frank Ocean hits pretty well with Bonnaroo's demographic.

He was easily one of my favorite sets of the weekend

Yeah, he had an overflowing tent against some tough conflicts.

It'd take a long time for me to get used to looking at Justin Timberlake and Tool booked right next to each other. This would actually be a year I cared about none of the headliners. I'd still go to see Chance the Rapper and Justice, assuming there'd also be more in that undercard I'd be into. But as far as headliners go I'd probably only check out Justin Timberlake out of curiosity. Speaking of which, is he even that relevant right now? The last big song I remember from him was Suit & Tie, and I don't think he's been touring much. So besides the fact that he'd be super expensive to book and he never does festivals, the chances of him being booked seem like pretty much zero.
FWIW, I asked a guy that works at AC last year who was on his headliner wishlist. The two names he mentioned were Foo Fighters (said he's not a big fan but they're a band that should have played by now) and Justin Timberlake (said they approached but he was not doing shows in 2016).

I think you guys are really underestimating how high Frank Ocean would be billed. He'd probably be #5 at the lowest. There's some discussion on the Coachella board on how he could possibly headline Coachella if his next album blows up, even though he probably appeals more to the Coachella crowd than the Bonnaroo crowd.
For the Lolla goers out there, how was Radiohead's crowd(size)? Did it change at 9 pm as other headliners started? Radiohead is a big "get" in festival circles, but do they still have that mass appeal? Is Radiohead 2017 better than Pearl Jam 2016 in terms of drawing power?
Sadly, Coldplay would out draw the both of them, and with CP not headlining Roo before, you know it's only a matter of time.
Don't know for sure but I've heard on here plus Reddit that major lazer had a bigger crowd. But who knows if that was someone just saying shit. It's believable though given the type of crowd that Lolla attracted.

At Osheaga I was really surprised how crazy it was during Radiohead's set. Radiohead is certainly more relevant than Pearl Jam in 2016. Radiohead seems to appeal to a large demographic while PJ seems to be aimed towards more of an older demo (30+)
This is how you sell out a festival, plenty of legacy acts as well as stuff for the kids. I would also throw in a Sturgill late night or superjam
"This is how you sell out a festival" says the guy who clearly has zero idea what would actually sell out a festival.
Care to elaborate? JT sells out stadiums and even if it wasn't an exclusive get (which it probably would) he alone would get plenty of the younger festival crowd to attend. Tool is a niche act that would move plenty of tickets convincing tons of people who otherwise would never think of coming to Roo to travel from all over. Phish, while not really exclusive and always touring, still has a hardcore following and would appease the traditional Roo crowd. Throw in LDR who's a borderline headliner already and would grab even more of the younger generation, Pretty Lights (or maybe Major Laser or Bassnectar), Chance and Blink and you've locked up the current festival demographic. Add on legacy acts like Hall & Oates (who still move tickets), Willie (for the hippie demographic) and the pumpkins and I dont doubt this sells exceedingly better than this year.

Ehhh move more tickets than this year? Sure, that isn't hard to do. Sell out? Assuming we are talking about 80,000 tickets, I doubt it. JT is big but if it's part of a tour/new album then I don't think it matters unless he avoids North Carolina and Georgia. Tool and Phish are both neutral to me, pretty lights is meh, LDR would move some tickets, I love Chance but I think his widespread appeal might be exaggerated by how inforoo feels about him. Everything else is just kind of . That's my opinion though. With how the lineups and ticket sale numbers differed from 2015 and 2016, I think people underestimate the amount of shiz that is going to take up the top 2 lines.
Frank Ocean's new album will be a massive hit, and he will Co-Headline a day with (insert big-room EDM Artist here) as the #3/4 artists on the bill.
Reasonable Statement of the day:
LFDA is wrong
He was a top 10 act in 2014. The only reason nobody showed up is because they scheduled him at the same time as the Skrilly Jam, FLips, and Nick Cave.
If Boys Don't Cry lives up to the hype, i don't see why it wouldn't push him into headliner territory. He'd, at worst, get a higher billing than he did last time around.
Which Closer, 6-7 on the bill is his floor, Main Stage 3-4 is his ceiling, and based on his talent and current level of hype, i'd expect it to be closer to the ceiling than the floor.
Personal Note: I think Frank Ocean would absolutely crush any one of the R.Kelly '13, Richie 14 or Kendrick 15 slots.

Also, yeah, his set was well-attended. Not the crazy packed overflow youd expect out of an artist billed in the top 10, but he did fill up the tent and a bit beyond. Think Flume's crowd last year as far as size.

That is my thought as well. RH's production value can draw in younger crowds. I tend to think yes, Radiohead is out drawing PJ. The issue with Radiohead is that if I understand this correctly they don't tour two years in a row on the same album. Is this correct?

Why in God's name is Justin Timberlake being thrown around again? There is no evidence that the man does festivals (need an inforoo fact check -here). As some one said earlier, I'll eat my shorts if JT is at Roo.
As someone told me recently, the key to having a second child is having a poor memory.
Relate this to festival speculation season and the reason we all come back. Have a poor memory about the absurdity that is line-up speculation and we always come back.
