I just get discouraged from voting fam, and that makes me slightly salty, yall had Lemonade picked out before you even listened to any of it.
I get it, but it happens to everyone at some point. I always just took comfort in the fact that my vote was counted for posterity, even if it wasn't the #1.
And, at the end of the day, you're voting on an album in an internet message board that holds no significant bearing on anything. So, you know, have fun with it.

Um, no. I am not a Beyoncé "fan". Didn't get into her last release at all. I listened to the album, realized every song was fantastic, and that there wasn't going to be an album that eclipsed it.
Big artists have a way of winning people over before the album is even out by virtue of dwarfing everything else. You can't ignore Beyonce any more than you can ignore Radiohead this weekend because it puts you out of the cultural conversation, whereas you can totally ignore, say, Woods or Parquet Courts and not feel like you're being left out, even if they might end up being records you'd like more with the same level of exposure to them.

I'm also not a Bey fan and loved the album as well, watched Lemonade once and listened to the album in full once. It's really great, I just think there was probably a lot of albums were overlooked because of this big release.

I am having fun with it, thats why I wanted to combine the votes of the people who lost to beat it. Winning is fun
There's no doubt that people pick a favorite before they are released, I just take issue with the assumption that we voted for Beyoncé because we didn't give anything else a chance.
Plus, Beyonce's release was technically a surprise wasn't it? At least to me it was.

Same thing happened with TLOP, which I only really liked about half of, but it dropped and everyone cast their vote for it lol. I have never liked a Beyonce release as much as Lemonade, and I love every single song, so for me the choice was easy. I also didn't like a lot of what came out this month though, so I definitely didn't have many other contenders as other people.

Yeah I didn't expect Snarky Puppy to win, in fact I voted for them because I knew no one else would and they deserved at least one vote on this random internet forum that no one cares about and oh nvm its all coming to fruition this really doesnt matter.

Do it long enough and you get used to it. There will be albums you can't stand that win the month, and there will be albums you love love where you're the lone vote. It's all in the game.

An idea that keeps coming up in my head is getting people to put a prediction at the start of the month and compare it to their eventual vote. Always curious as to how often it changes.
JUST JOKING. Seriously though, This thread should be used to discover what everybody else thinks is the best new music coming out.
What he said 1000%. If it wasn't for this thread & the Now Playing one, I wouldn't have a clue. So think of it as a teaching experience and try not to let it get to you.

Sufjan Stevens will one day be an old white guy and then you will all realize the gravity of what you all did
I'll be the first one to break the ice on this one
I liked many others, but I'm too lazy to put together a HM list.
this is it for me. I've not been able to get enough of this. Beyoncé is behind by just a hair, and if it was already on Spotify it would probably win. I also loved woods and Kevin Morby.

Yup, this is what I use to discover new music. I don't listen to the radio and I don't listen to a lot of new music in general, so when I see people rave about something about in here that helps ensure that it'll be worth my while to check it out.
