He's the second name list. That generally means he's the second best. If you look at the rest of the list, it seems pretty obvious that there is an order to the way they are listed. The most striking examples would be at the Safety, Running Back, and Defensive End positions. If you want to get specific to the CB position, the guy from Florida State who is listed above Alexander "locked down his side of the field", so it's not like they said he did nothing.
The fact that they say he's the best means they think he's the best, no? No doubt Ramsey is great too.
Best shutdown corner =/= Best corner. It would imply they think his coverage skills are better, but corners do things aside from cover, i.e. run support, pass rush. Qualifiers make a difference.

I was actually typing this before about Ramsey, they do use him more to blitz and he's not always man to man. Alexander is man to man pretty much all the time. To me, what he does is just more impressive. He takes the top wr and shuts him down for the entire game. The only thing is it may not be as noticeable because he's not compiling a lot of stats by doing this. That and the fact that he's just a So. probably kept him off the All-American team. He'll be 1st team next year if he comes back (he redshirted because of injury, so he's eligible to go after this year).
Not surprised. I'm in a fairly large confidence bowl pick 'em money league (meant to get in on the inforoo league, just didn't get around to it) and put 37 on Houston. Granted, my picks have been pretty average so far...I saw this one coming. Whatever big program gets Tom Herman away from Houston will have won the lottery.
Good luck to all you Clemson fans today (I know there are many of you around here). For what's it worth, I think OU is overrated and picked Clemson.

It's not so much that I'm surprised that Houston is winning. I'm more surprised about how one sided it has been so far. Maguire or no, FSU isn't getting anything going on offense all half.
If Florida wins today and Arkansas wins tomorrow...I may be coming into some $$$. Houston and Clemson winning yesterday boosted me into the top 3 in my confidence pool.
