If Japandroids tried to sound more like The Replacements than Springsteen, this is what happens.

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling this Joanna Newsom album. Reminds me of Regina Spektor, and the woman who sings the "Weeds" theme song. The instrumentation is incredibly interesting though - there's a lot going on but also not too much going on. I probably won't vote for it just because I haven't listened to anything else new this month and I wanna be fair, but I do feel like this album's gonna get some rotation.
Oh and Dave thanks for the reminder to check out Majical Cloudz; I still have yet to do that.

And you just ensured I will never listen to it. I fucking hate the Weeds theme song with a passion. At this moment I've having a battle in my head. I can almost here it, but I can block it away.
Damn it Jaz, what have you done!
And Drake...really? This month? Did you listen to !!!, you might be into that.

It may be four years old but it's the album of the month for me! That's what really counts.
And nah I haven't checked them out yet. Honestly other than Big Grams this is the first new album I've listened to in a little bit. I'll add !!! to the list but tbh I probably won't get around to them.

Definitely check out !!!, I just have a weird feeling you'd like it for some reason. Like Dave mentioned, it'd easily take my vote other months, this month is just stacked.

I second this. I would be shocked if you didn't get into them.

Yeah - I first started listening to Joanna and Regina around the same time, when I was in 7/8th grade, and they both helped lead me towards the musical tastes I've established over the years. Love both those ladies.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I'm going to give mine early this week since I can't see anything knocking this one out of first spot. The songwriting on this album (especially the second half with tracks like "The Things I Say", "A Pin-Light Bent", and "Time, As a Symptom") is superb and some of the best writing I've seen this year on any album outside of Sufjan Stevens. I love that she isn't afraid to experiment with her voice, too. She reminds me a lot of Bjork. This is definitely her best album since Milk-Eyed Mender.
Deerhunter was probably my #2.
Deerhunter is good. Neon Indian is fun. Fuzz put out a genuinely impressive piece of work.
But there's no way Joanna isn't winning this month for me. The paragraph above that I've quoted summarizes my feelings on the album quite well - nothing else but Sufjan has impacted me this much amongst the 2015 releases.

Do yourself a favor. Watch some live videos. Nic Offer might be your spirit animal.
This is so true, I wasn't even thinking about their live performance. Dave is right though, Nic Offer is your spirit animal, and a national treasure. Jaz if you ever get a chance to see them live, do it! I know you'd have a fucking blast dancing at that show.
Unfortunately, for their upcoming tour, these are the only dates any where near you:
11-16 Boston, MA - Middle East (downstairs) 11-17 Brooklyn, NY - Music Hall of Williamsburg 11-18 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom 11-19 Washington, DC - Black Cat

Regina spektor actually sang the weeds song in season 2 or 3 (whenever they started having different people cover it for each episode).
