Who do you like of the bands you know on the line up? That would make it easier to make a recommendation. I'd hate to send you to Meshuggah if you are offended by the hard-rockin' sounds of The Dunwells (who I like, by the way).
I would second White Denim. Disappointed they are opposite J. Roddy Walston & The Business -- I really want to see both.
Give Phoenix a listen. I like them, but will likely opt for Vampire Weekend since they back up to one another ... but may try to take in at least part of both.
The Preatures open the weekend, and I think they may be a surprise hit.
The line up this year is pretty solid. And now is the perfect time for a last minute cram session. No nothing but learn yourself a few songs from as many artists as possible.

Last year I made a playlist of punk and ska tunes I listened to in high school in the 90s.
I also always have to listen to Toto's "Africa" on the drive to Roo. When I sing the chorus I replace the word Africa with Bonnaroo.
There are a few albums we always listen to on the ride down. Always, always Nirvana MTV unplugged. And The Streets A Grand Don't Come For Free.(which is my opinion is arguably one of the best things my ears have ever eaten)

The lineup is solid enough that it's hard to make recommendations, but the unifier this year is depth-of-sound. Most of the bands on the list have this surprising richness to their sound / lyrics / musicality, this element where you can listen to their music in pretty much any state of mind and take something intellectual back from it. If they're not already on your list:
White Denim Umphrey's McGee Cake Grouplove Phosphorescent
I personally feel Grouplove is going to deliver the best show of 'Roo, in terms of having the combination of stage presence, live performance, "outdoor festival feel", and humanity.

I used to be big into nu-metal but now I value Steely Dan.
I like rock n roll, blues, jazz, and a little country.
Blackberry Smoke, Drive-by Truckers, The Flaming Lips...those are my top rock acts right now.

Umphrey's Mcgee sounds like a winner. I hear they do some nice covers and have that jammy vibe.
