Since yall are into mixing booze with aquatic environments, this seems like the perfect place for a shameless plug about my pool party I am throwing with Krissy and Token this year July 18-20th, 3 inforoo birthdays, Dr. Seuss theme . . . . just sayin
On a more related note to this thread, I would say definitely do a multi-day/long weekend. A day or two is nice, but will likely attract only local inforoosters of that area. Plan something that is several days and you will prolly have a much better turnout from out of towners that would want to join, but have to fly in. I am partial to the lake house, wooded area, hiking trails, but anyway this turns out, I think it is a great idea
1. Since I'm only going to Forecastle Friday I may stop by on my way home to AL, if that's okay! 2. I definitely agree that a multi-day thing is better and more inclusive.
Okay so here's the thing. My family owns a mansion by the sea. It's just outside of Wilmington, NC. It sleeps about 28 in beds, more in you include air mattresses and tripling up on the king beds. I can easily get this place for like $1,000 per week. Is that a possible solution?
Hell yeah! I live in Wilmington and would love to stay in one of those awesome places! We can provide support as needed from our non mansion
And I can get it for free if it's not reserved by anyone else in the family. Not saying we have to do this - just putting it out there.
Thanks @zenfnp! The house looks amazing and the location is kinda, sorta central to a lot of Inforoosters and if it's not it doesn't seem too, too far from either the Greenville-Spartanburg (SC) airport or the Atlanta airport. Also the "free-ness" of it all certainly helps!
How many do you think it can realistically sleep (including beds, couches, air mattresses on the floor)?
My vote is for the lakeside place - I prefer lakes/forest to beaches, and all my money is going to live music this summer. I wouldn't be able to swing another big purchase (assuming I'd be able to go at all).
here is a breakdown of bed space at the house: master: 1 king, 1 foldout couch and floor space for mattress library: 1 queen (?) 1 upstairs bedroom: 1 king and 1 twin, possible floor space 2nd upstairs bedroom: 1 queen, 1 twin and space for a mattress basement: 5 twins (2 sets of bunk beds and 1 twin in middle) really comfy couch LOTS of floor space great room: really comfy couch living room: not comfy couch, LOTS of floor space
Whatever that calculates to be. I am thinking we could cram 30 in there easily.
Okay so here's how it looks and tell me if you all feel different...
We could do @zenfnp lake house this year then plan for a cruise or some other bigger (read: possibly more expensive) adventure for next year. We could even use the lake house trip as a pre-planning meeting for next year's adventure. There were plenty of beach mansion votes but I think we'd need more info to weigh it fairly.
Is it possible to throw out some open dates for the lake house so we can vote on doing that?
I will work on seeing if I can get some open dates. My late husband was one of 10 kids, and this was his parents' house, so I need to hear from something like 8 different families. But if you all are patient and want this to happen, we can make it so.
