Groovy, spaced-out, rock'n'roll goodness. The psych-rockers coming out of Australia over the last several years are quite fantastic, one of my favorite current music scenes (if such a thing exists anymore).
HM: Hookworms (a close 2nd), Machinedrum, and Andy Stott. TVOTR was just Ok...
I found a few songs on Youtube, but the full album isn't on Spotify. Where'd you hear it?
I bought it, but I first listened to it here. The real thing is slightly better than the nytimes player because most of the songs fade into each other so brilliantly, whereas the stream has that annoying little pause. link.
My Favourite Faded Fantasy by Damian Rice: Damn this record is beautiful. This will easily be a top 5 album of the year for me. Might even get the top spot. Also in contention for album of the year most likely to make me cry like a baby.
Honorable Mentions: 2. The Apes of God I by Old Man Gloom 3. The Hum by Hookworms 4. pom pom by Ariel Pink 5. IX by ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead

I must admit that Charli XCX is one of my favorite current pop artist. Her album is the only new thing that I am really excited for this month while I go revisit other albums from this year.
I've listened to about 5 albums this month once each. Nothing has really blown my mind yet. Though clearly I've been sleeping on King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
How about we just let anything that actually gets more than 1 vote for any month be eligible for the AotY tourney. I know I have looked back on previous months and said to myself "fuck my ass, I should have voted for so & so instead" after more time to reflect on them and/or seeing the acts do the stuff live.
So this is my current thought process: we have a 64 album tournament, but there are currently 65 albums with two or more votes. So here's the tiebreaker round. The lowest rated albums on this list get knocked out of the tournament.
These are all the two vote albums. You vote one of three ways: Yes, No, Abstain. Pretty simple? Yes if you think it should be in the tourney, no if you don't. Abstain if you've never heard the album, haven't heard enough to properly vote, or don't wish to cast judgment.

If you're quoting my post with the chart, look below the text box and on the left side see the "Preview" tab. Click on that, and the chart will appear.

Shouldn't we wait until December AotM votes? Maybe even start a new thread for the tourney? Or hell, what is the limit on poll threads? Could just make a few of those and that would be much less of a headache to tally up.

Does anyone else think the new Smashing Pumpkins album is pretty good?
December tends to be like this just because the releases for this month tend to be weaker, and everyone is thinking about their year end lists. I haven't listened to that Smashing Pumpkins. I just can't do Corgan's vocals anymore.
