Seems like a waste of effort since Caribou and Foo Fighters are gonna get 90% of the votes.

That is what I would use as a quick reference. I did a quick run through and found 16 albums that I need to listen to this month.
Yes, I do use metacritic as well as Allmusic, but Tom always does a great job of getting everything together in one spot.
This thread needs a hip hop head though to clue us in the recent releases. I know it's been a down year, but we rarely seem discuss hip Hop's new albums.
There really isn't much going on in hip hop this year. It's been absolutely atrocious. Last year I had a tough time making a top ten because there were so many great hip hop albums released, this year I can't even scrape up a top five because it's nothing but shit.

At least this month we get Run the Jewels 2 and Vince Staples, I expect those to be pretty good

Vince Staples is just more of the same.
Can't hate on RTJ2 though, really.
What a worthless year for rap. I think the only release I listen to on the regular is that Statik Selektah.

Yeah, but I make the lists anyway for myself for what I'll give at least one spin to just to be able to honestly opine on it. And people have to fill out their top 100 year end list somehow.

I truly appreciate the effort. The convenience it creates is great.
Can't believe so many of you are into that Goat album.
Why?
I think it's funny because I could have called so many people's votes before they were even cast. Like custeph was going to vote for anything but Ryan Adams, bansheebeat was going to vote for anything but Syro, and NoAge were going for anything but Perfume Genius and me and you were not going to vote for the psych rock album.

I actually surprised myself by how close I came to voting for Simian Mobile Disco. Like monster said though, this album is so ingrained in me it would be hard for something to top it. Perhaps I'll have a different opinion in 6 months when both have really had the same chance to marinate properly.

Agreed. The super early leaks kind of screw with my voting process.
There were a lot of great albums but this had to get my vote. Sparse and beautiful.
Honorable mentions (in no order): Perfect Hair by Busdriver This Is All Yours bt alt-J The Physical World by Death Fro=m Above 1979 Sukierae by Tweedy This Is My Hand by My Brightest Diamond

It's just weird that Goat got 6 votes and Mark McGuire got zero in Feb.
I didn't vote in February.
But to be completely honest, I spaced that Mark McGuire even put out a new album this year. Not sure how I did that considering I saw him at Psych Fest around that time (fucking awesome show, see him if you get a chance).
Never the less, thanks for the reminder. Off to Now Playing Dos!
