I'm tapping out till august, just listened to Sia, and it did absolutely nothing for me. I know its good, and its something i would normally like, so this tells me i'm just burnt out on music and need a break. Wake me up when Ty Segall puts out a new one.
I'm pretty confident that Jungle's self titled is gonna take the cake for me this month. Their ep from awhile ago is gold and this album hasn't even come out yet, but come on.

I'm thinking it will be AOTM as well (streaming on Itunes right now). It brings the heat in the smoothest, sexiest of ways!
Can you give me some more info on this? Is Viet Cong the name of the group?
Viet Cong is the band, the album is called Cassette. They're former members of the band Women, which was an awesome band. It's on Mexican Summer.
My cousin just posted this on facebook "A couple of these guys crashed on our floor a few years ago after playing in town with their band Women. They put out 2 amazing records before disbanding. Really great to hear some new music from them." So that's cool.
Edit: more importantly, not sure what they were doing playing my shitty little hometown

Ha, I crashed on the same floor as them during CMJ a few years ago. Super good guys. Real shame Chris Reimer died so young.
I liked it. It's good not great (personal opinion). I am however in love with the new Matt Kival album. If you like Woods/Woodist type folk (and I hate putting that since it's on Woodist), it's right up your alley.

Viet Cong is way cool. It's too bad they didn't/were not able take those songs into a studio with good producer because it would have been fantastic. Maybe they are just trying to pave the way for that on the next one.
It's looking like DJ Dodger Stadium may take this month for me. Seriously bad*ss and dark house. I'm in love.
Brian Eno & Karl Hyde - High Life has some great moments, but I think it's a little uneven. Great high points, though (like the first track).
Eh. I don't want to pay for it (trying to keep my US bank account free from any type of billing). And since I'm living in a foreign country I would have to buy a subscription to allow me to listen to it while overseas. So it's just not worth all the hassle really.

I figured that I noticed the "via Thailand" in your status right after I posted it.

I caught these guys last October at my favourite hole in the wall / dive bar in Edmonton. They were suppose to play Sled Island last year (before it was flooded and canceled) and made their way into my warm up playlist before the fest. Nice to see a (kinda, but not really) local band getting some recognition. Calgary has a pretty cool music scene, and this will only strengthen it, which is great, because I will live there some day.
