Starting from scratch for March so that the rules are on the first page. Any discussion of your favorite albums of the month is 100% a-okay, but to actually cast your vote for your #1 album of the month, which I will keep a running tally of until the end of the month every month, please post a picture of the album cover with the album title right underneath, and perhaps a few words explaining that you're voting for this album.
Voting will be cut off the first Tuesday of the next month, at which point I will tally up all the votes...Here's a better explanation of it:
It should be the first Tuesday of the next month. Aka the first release date for albums of the next month. For example, albums were released on Tuesday February 26th, which only leaves two days in the month left to digest those albums. I think we should keep February voting open until Tuesday March 5th, and continue that trend for every month after. So March voting would be cut off on Tuesday April 2nd, and April voting until Tuesday May 6th, and so on.
How to Vote: Say Moondance came out in January and it was your favorite record of the month. Post the cover.
Van Morrison - Moondance
If you wanna make your case about why it was the best, feel free.
I'll update the post at the end of voting so that we can keep a running tab.

One of my New Years Resolutions is to participate in this thread in 2014. I feel like it will definitely expand my musical tastes and be fun as well. What are some good suggestions to look out for in Jan. 2014?

How would y'all feel if we had discussion about records and a set voting time? I don't wanna stifle conversation and that may make it easier to count votes. Just a thought.
Yeah, I got the Gabriel months ago. Maybe it was just digital. Arcade Fire's "Games Without Frontiers" cover is awesome!
As for TOY being a UK-only release in 2013, what is the standard for this thread, US/North American release date?
Normally, I would say US is not the centre of the world, and forums are international; but in this case, the board is assumed to be predominantly North American, due to Bonnaroo's location. Is that correct?

You know, I never really thought about it too much. International dates should apply to be fair to our neighbors in the North. I had this problem last year with Jessie Ware, where I had had been listening months before it was released in the US.
It doesn't come up often, but it does come up. I'm down with what everyone wants to do.

In general, US dates are same as our dates up here. I was referring more to UK dates which are often earlier for UK artists, and sometimes later for NA artists. Especially smaller bands.
Tough call, since many people here seem to only purchase physical copies.

...*North*? ahem!
Plus we've got a couple Belgians across the Pond, and at least one (jpbrez) in the Far East in addition to the Canadians. Personally, I'm not too fussed about official release dates; once it's released in one place, it's typically not super difficult to find bootlegged online.
I'm glad to see this thread return - if I'm looking specifically for new stuff, it's usually easier to come here than to sift through Now Playing specifically for new releases (not that I don't love Now Playing). It may be a bit unnecessary to start a new thread every year, but hey, I'm easy.
I haven't yet, will probably get to it in the next couple of days. I'm kind of anal about getting all of my listens into last.fm, so typically avoid the streaming previews but will likely make an exception for his album.
Anything notable from this past Tuesday? i just got a new computron and trying to set everything up, haven't had time to check anything out. East India Youth sounds interesting thus far.
edit: East India Youth - Total Strife Forever, this Kicks fucking ass!
