Just got home and watched the highlights. Thorton is a piece of shit. Doing shit like that during the play from the bench, it's a good thing Subban wasn't hit while he was distracted. Quite a classy organization over there in Boston. If It was Subban doing that shit, he'd be dragged through the mud for weeks. Yet a guy like Thorton, who like to attack people from behind, does it, I bet nobody bats an eye at it.
That's quite the persecution complex you've got there

I'm just mad bro. Given last nights events, and my pre-existing hatred of a number of hockey players on the Bruins squad, and yeah, I may have a bit of a complex when it comes to dirty shit they do. It's Habs vs Bruins in the playioffs man, cut me some slack.
What happened: Canadians are all pissed off, everyone else thinks it's hilarious
What would have happened in a bizarre alternate timeline where PK subban did something funny: Bostonians are all pissed off, everyone else thinks it's hilarious

If he didn't have the puck, and was just skating by the bench, he's not in danger of being lined up for a big hit. The fact he had the puck makes this pretty despicable. It's an issue of player safety. What if a guy like Chara or Lucic had him in their sights while he's distracted, or can't see. It was a thoughtless, classless thing that Thorton did, It's playoff hockey, and yeah things get greesey, but there's a line. I know it's all whiny "what if's" and " "boo hoo's" to you, but there is no place In the game for shit like that, and it pisses me off that shit like this can, and will go unpunished.

Far more dangerous shit is constantly going on in the course of a hockey game than some frigging water flying around. Did you know the entire playing surface is made of water??? Did you know that players are allowed, and even encouraged to punch each other in the face???
"That's part of the game" -PK Subban
Keep up the histrionics though, they're incredible

He retracted immediately after saying that, saying "well I don't know if it's part of the game"
I guess the positives coming from all that is Subban is pretty fired up. If habs score 1st tomorrow, it's going to game7. If not, they're done.
The Montreal Canadiens are extremely respectful and classy and play the game the way it should be played. The Boston Bruins are classless thugs who will try any dirty trick to get an advantage. I am wearing massive blinders

emoney knows what's up.
Someone call the police on Thorton.
Also the Kings need to step it up so I don't have to watch the stupid Ducks on television anymore. Their goalie situation is shit and the Kings can't even take advantage of it.

So it's ok if next time Bergeron is passing by the habs bench, with the puck, someone leans out spits in his face?
"NEW YORK -- Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton has been fined $2820.52, the maximum permitted under the CBA, for unsportsmanlike conduct during Game 5 of the teams' Second Round Stanley Cup Playoffs series in Boston on Saturday, May 10, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today."
I bet he really learned his lesson.... What a joke.
I'm willing to admit that if it came from a player like Hamilton, I couldn't be as pissed off about it. But any kind of intent to distract, coming from the bench is cause for alarm. Players get injured even when they're expecting hits, and worse when they're not.

Oh please this is fucking hockey. If Bergeron was in a pile at the net and someone spit on him, go for it! This sport always has and always will have dirty plays and dirty players. Is it bad for the sport? I don't fucking think so. If it was in the regular season, yeah suspend Thorton or fine him a lot more. This is playoff hockey. As long as there is no intent to injure a guy to the point where he can't play the game, go for it. Slam a guy into the boards, push a guy into the opponents goalie, hit him with the stick, throw water at him I DONT CARE. You play your fast quick passing style of game and we'll play our slow dump the puck and hammer on the boards style. We'll see who will win the series.
Also, the replay of Thorton laughing after the throwing of the water gave me a you.

No need for respect in hockey?
So sayith the American hockey fans. Edit: I should rephrase that to "bruins fan"

Sorry, what about bad fans?
Before this turns into something more than it should, I'll just drop it. No need to make this a war of fan bases. Besides, I'm clearly out numbered in here.
Final words, Shawn Thorton is the new Sean Avery. I'm allowed to call him a POS for what he did, and anyone who actually defends his actions is not a true fan of the game. Period. He broke the rules, and doesn't feel like he's done anything wrong. That is what is not ok. What he did could have potentially resulted in injury (impairing his vision, distracting him), and Thortons skates weren't on the ice. Sure stupid shit happens, but most of the time, that stupid shit happens while both players are on the ice, NOT during play while the offender is on the bench. It was an idiotic thing to do. Plain and simple.
"I'll drop it. BTW all you guys aren't true fans HAHA I SAID I WAS DROPPING IT NOW YOU CANT RESPOND OR YOU LOOK LIKE A DICK"
i was dropping the topic of bad fans. Interfering with play from the bench isn't allowed in hockey. If you support it, you're an idiot, in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
I really hope Montrel can knock Boston out. They are such a dirty and disrespectful team, they are my number one team I do not want taking home the cup. Game 5 was the only one of the series I didn't catch but I just saw the highlights and the water bottle spraying is just ridiculous. I'm glad he was handed out the maximum fine though it won't change Boston's behavior. I understand the playoffs get heated but this was just uncalled for.
