Im guessing you left around 630 in the morning? It was terrible weather but around 730 or 8 the sun came out and all was good... I also have so much respect for the ones that cleaned though, you must find some cool stuff. We left a pile of close to 50 Pabst beers near the road hoping someone had room for them ha

You know: the idea of leaving a "tip" in the campsite is an excellent one, although it'd be hard to ensure that it made it to its intended recipient.
We split at maybe 11:00 after that second big wave of rain came through. The Class A rigs out in the far reaches of Camp Zed were getting bogged down left and right, by the way.

I'm really curious about the herculean task of cleaning up from the perspective of the volunteers. I left around 11 myself. For the most part it looked like people were respectful in TO and put their trash and recycling in bags. Outside of busted & abandoned camping gear I didn't see allot of garbage on the ground. It was a little more messy where my car was parked in pod 3 but not awful per se.
This was one of my best Roo discoveries. I'd read on here that people leave stuff behind but never have stayed 'til Monday. During the late morning Monday rain I saw all kinds of folks fleeing and a few abandoned canopies were in sight. I was wanting to get one so I could upgrade my shade from the card table I sleep under. As I sat there I saw pickers combing through campsites and I thought I'd try it too. I tied a grocery bag to my head, threw a 101 Dalmations towel around my Ed Sharpe shirt, and walked the muddy grounds in sandals.
I scored about 25 beers, a case of water, some Red Bulls, a bunch of granola bars and pop tarts, liquor bottles, plus a brand new $100 canopy. The canopy people abandoned their entire camp and left behind nice chairs, lots of beer, clothes, etc. I even ended up taking crap I'll never use like pop. I tore down a second less nice canopy and lugged a grill. I decided those were too dirty for the car so left them. Foodwise there were so many abandoned jars of peanut butter. I'm a fan of that sacred spread and it felt like I was trekking a graveyard of deliciousness. I'd already been eating stuff off the ground at Centeroo and as I sucked down Oreos from someone's cooler this dude looked at me like I was mental haha.
Next year I'm either going to do volunteer cleanup or plan on hitting the grounds hard for scores. I must become a wook at all costs. I think I did so well due to the rain and people just wanting to get out. But I imagine there's always lots of goods to find. I still can't comprehend why people would leave behind non-perishables and pricey equipment. It worked out great for me though. Anyone have a good picture of the semi-abandoned campgrounds from Monday morning I can use?
We left a bunch of water, juice, snacks and about a dozen foldable chairs. We were taking an international flight afterwards so there was no way we could take all that stuff with us.

I do kinda regret not grabbing a few foldable chairs that were left behind, but after the rain subsided around 11 I was all to ready to hit the road. Those things were everywhere.

I worked post show clean up! My group got the lovely task of cleaning pod 1. Which had standing water in it since it rained all of tuesday as well. Ground score was okay, lots of drinks, snacks, and tents. Most other stuff on the ground got too wet to be used. Found way too much booze. Coolers full. And found some poop in a bottle! That was fun.

Do you keep all that booze or what ends up happening to it? Can you lug it all to your car? Can you request to be cleaning the campgrounds as opposed to Centeroo? Was the poop in a bottle shared or did you Gollum it? I'm thinking of doing post show cleanup next year for the ground scores.
I think that depends on both diet and commitment to accuracy.
I don't care how many handicaps you get, pooing in a bottle is HARD. I can't even get shampoo from one bottle to another without making a mess, how do you get poo in there?! It's not like you can line up the holes or use a funnel or something.

Did'nt someone have pics of post cleanup last year? Would be interesting to see all the efforts being done...wasn't there a different cleaning crew running it this year as well?

I wasn't even aware of the concept of "ground scores" until it was already too late and my brother and I had signed up for the compost crew. We drank with our neighbors the night following our first day of digging through food waste and realized the bounty of favors they had found throughout the day. There was a small tinge of envy on our part but we actually didn't do too bad with our mountains of filth. My brother found a perfectly clean 20 dollar bill in between two plates, which vastly improved our no cigarette, low cash situation. Plus we got to stand under a canopy pretty much the entire time we worked. However, swinging back to the con side of things, we had to stand in water the entire first 10 hour shift.
