Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Also, The Gulf, the bar farther east towards FL owned by the The Hangout people I think is awesome. It's like one of my favorite places ever. We went there during the day Thursday before last year and it was fantastic. They've got food, booze, and lounge chairs in the sand. Highly suggest it if you're down that way. It's made out of shipping containers and is right on the beach.
Besides "Bahama Bob's", which is on WEST BEACH, "The Gulf" is the best restaurant/bar in town! It's going east right before you go over the big bridge towards Florida. All outside seating, great atmosphere for drinking by the water and hanging out. The food is outstanding as well!
Here's The Gulf's Facebook page The Gulf . They do not have a website.
I'm just glad the schedule is out and out of the way. Gov Ball will announce OutKast, Jack White. Counterpoint has OutKast & Pretty Lights. Just seems like OutKast will saturate the Festival scene much like the Black Keys did two years before and how Mumford & the Lumeneers did. I think Jazz Fest surprisingly had more diversity with Bruce, Clapton, Phish, Vampire, Arcade, etc.
Clear the deck - lets return to focusing on Bonnaroo.
So who's headlining Bonnaroo? I'm guessing Elton John, Outkast, and either Muse or the Foo Fighters…how many of those do I have right?
with Outkast playing so many festivals, this spring and summer will have so many of the same damn headliners it is unreal. Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, Outkast, and Pretty Lights will headline at least one of each festival.

Hangout shared several acts with Shaky Knees (going on the week before) and Party in the Park (Has a lineup been announced yet?) last year. So far, the only shared acts with Shaky Knees are Modest Mouse, Portugal the Man, Conor Oberst, and Wild Belle... if I recall correctly.
From the Shaky Knees lineup, I want Local Natives SO MUCH!!

Yeah, Local Natives seem almost too obvious to play down at HO. Don't know why they haven't been there yet considering they've done every single other fest in the world. I wouldn't mind seeing them again on a beach, though.

Local Natives are so good live, love to see them on the beach! I am hoping for Gaslight Anthem, Head and the Heart, and Disclosure. I caught Charles Bradley last year at Lolla and he was very funky, I could see him again.

I think The Flips will close the Chevy because of their association with the fest. But that's just my guess.
That definitely works best for them. But who do you bump? JJ is a lock. Pretty lights or Queens? I think they keep the thump on the beach Saturday night. Flips need the sunset and the light show more than queens. Big red, josh homme is gonna shred whatever stage apart anyway. So I agree for the flips sake, but queens is more of a "get".
This question is for everyone- are the main headliners unopposed? It could make sense to run somebody from 9 to 10- boyz noise, bloody beet roots during the rock headliners, even a rock band during outkast.

If I had to guess, Queens will be a 4:30/5 o'clock show on the Chevy stage, followed by Flaming Lips. No matter the time slot, they'll bring it either way, ala Ween 2011. Maybe Homme will curse out some asshat cheesdicks on a boat like Deaner did back then.

I see Queens on the Hangout Stage pre-Black Keys.... I think that would make the most sense.
There's too many holes right now to clearly define who will play where right now.

Any possibility that Cherub might be a late add? I've seen them play at my school in August and they killed it. Would be a great add IMO.
Doses and Mimosas! Yes please, on the beach!
They're already confirmed on playing Wakarusa and Firefly, are shown to be confirmed for Bonnaroo, and have no dates between SXSW on March 11th and Waka in June... I think they'd be an easy add and a popular act with those who don't necessarily love the heavier EDM/house music.
Decided to skip Roo and try Hangout this year, making the 17 hour trek from NY. We just got a place at Crystal Tower on the west end of beach blvd, 1.3 miles from the fest. Are there any bars that are in the area on the beach? What time are bars open until? is it realistic to think you can hang out on the beach until 2-3pm everyday and still see most of the large acts?
My group is really nervous to skip Roo for this, please someone tell me some fun stories about your time at Hangout to ease my worries!
Hey, bud I live in Gulf Shores and am a regular Hangout Fest attendee. You will not be disappointed. Chrystal Towers is a very nice place, close to the fest. It is across the street from the beach, but has a catwalk across W. Beach Blvd. There is an awesome pool and 2 hot tubs at Chrystal Towers, too. You'll be very happy. You could buy shuttle passes that would pick you up and drop you off at the Pier 33 grocery store but, honestly, you could save the money on shuttle passes and just walk...or bring bikes. In the evenings, after the shows end, you'll be able to go across the catwalk to the beach and walk back toward the Hangout, along the way you'll find lots of fun people having beach parties in front of their condos. They're always happy to have you join, especially if you bring along a 6-pack or bottle. Regarding your time on the beach during the day, yes, you could spend mornings-til-early afternoons on the beach without missing any major acts. If the schedule stays similar to previous years, you'll want to be inside the gates by 3 or so. WESTSIDERS: We hit up Bahama Bob's last year. I don't know how late they're open but DAMN those drinks were strong. After about one and a half our group was pretty loopy and we're no amateur drinkers. It's pretty small and they usually have to wait if you want to sit and eat food, but your wait consists of sitting in the sand with a strong beverage from the bar.
Unrelated note: I sure do wish they would add a couple more stops to the Beach Club shuttle route. We've got a house about 4 miles down Ft. Morgan road. It's free to stay there, but that means we have to drive everyday. Sure would be nice to take a shuttle instead. Anyone else staying down Ft. Morgan?
I second (third, fourth, fifth?) what everyone is saying. The atmosphere really does make the fest. It's one of the best "breaks" from reality ever, regardless of what bands you see. Beautiful beach, awesome people, perfect weather and everyone in a good mood. Plus you get to sleep in a bed and take an actual shower in between. Perfection.
edit: forgot some words.
Bahama Bob's has great bartenders and the pours are definitely generous. They also have the very best cheeseburger I've ever had, anywhere (and I look for cheeseburgers everywhere). The "Bahama Bob Burger" will not disappoint.

I got the impression that Bahama Bob's closes early as well but definitely plan on heading there for a Soft Shell Crab Po Boy and a few drinks at some point. The food is generally great at these smaller places. We tried a few of the buffets and were disappointed every time.
Bahama Bobs does close early (as do most places in Gulf Shores in May. May is "pre-season" for a lot of business owners here). For late nights, locals know to go to Cohiba Dunes Cigar Bar. Best dance floor, best dance music, and full of babes. For info, go to this Facebook page, which I started to provide local info to Hangout attendees: www.facebook.com/HangoutMusicFestSurvivalGuide

Here's The Gulf's Facebook page The Gulf . They do not have a website. The Gulf is great. It is owned by the same folks who own The Hangout. Can be pricey, and its a long way East, especially if one is going to partake. Cops here don't fart around when it comes to DUI, so be careful. I provide some local advice for good, cheap eats near the fest here: www.hangoutmusicfestsurvivalguide.com/
Also, how about Aer for another late add? They're touring with RDGLDGRN and they will both be playing in Birmingham the 18th, and it's hard to think that the two would tour together and break off for a one day break (they're both playing in OKC the 16th). That being said, that puts RDGLDGRN as a lock for a Saturday spot. In case you don't listen to Aer, they're kind of a college-frat-party West coast beach vibe with East coast accents. They'd be fun to see on the beach, especially the vibes from their earlier albums.
