I get it if RAM isn't your favorite album of the month, but I got the clear impression LD thought it sucked, and I'm curious to hear why he thinks that.
Ahh gotcha. I wouldn't say it sucked. But I wouldn't put it on any end of the year lists I don't think. I'm also curious as to hear why someone thinks it sucks. I've yet to hear a really negative review.
If you break RAM into songs that have a featured artist and songs that are strictly Daft Punk, I would give each grouping of songs totally different ratings. If the whole album was along the styles of Giorgio, Lose Yourself to Dance, Get Lucky, Instant Crush, Fragments of Time, and Doin' It Right, then it would be right up there with Vampire Weekend and Deerhunter. But, to me, it's the songs that are only the machine voices and low-key disco/soul/funk that are really meh.
I'm not saying that all of Deerhunter is great, either. All in all, this was an album I was looking forward to more than anything this year. I wouldn't say I'm completely disappointed, but Microcastles, Halcyon Digest, and (almost) Crytograms are perfect albums to me, and this album didn't blow me away like those did. I love the band enough to still put it in the top two this month.
Vampire Weekend is a very solid album, complete with many songs that I absolutely love (Ya Hey, Step, Diane Young, and Hannah Hunt). I like to listen to it from beginning to end. It will probably make it on a lot of best of 2013 lists, and maybe earn a few Grammy nominations.
As far as June, I'm very much excited about Kanye West, Queens of the Stone Age, and hopefully, but probably not yet, MGMT.

Just want to point out that if you take all the RAM songs you mentioned (and toss in Contact which I'm sure was just an oversight), you have an album of comparable length to VW or Deerhunter.
I voted for Deerhunter, not that boring indie-pop record everybody is safely picking (Burrrn!).
Haha. Not all of us can live on the edge like you, Monster.
I'm just talking sh*t because I want Deerhunter to win. I actually think the new VW is really good. I could tell from my first listen that it would be an across the board smash from from critics, long time fans, new fans, and casual listeners. They went in directions I didn't think they would ever go. My wife asked me if we were listening to AnCo. It deserves a lot of praise. But, I still think it's a safe pick. And that "US Dollar" song is lame as hell.

I know you were just messing around. I think Deerhunter can be construed as safe to an extent as well since they are an established, critically praised act, and Monomania did get the P4K seal of approval. I was honestly surprised to like the new VW as much as I did. I didn't expect it to even be in the top 3 for May much less the winner.
MVOTC is gonna take Vampire to a whole new level. Dare I say headliners, Bonnaroo 14? I wouldn't be surprised. Especially after it ends the year atop many best lists and makes a strong push for album of the year at the Grammys.

Vampire Weekend, The National and Laura Marling all battling it out for me. Daft Punk was good, but a notch below those 3. Will try to get listens in to Deerhunter, Savages and Mikal Cronin as well before I cast a vote. Excellent month after Kurt Vile ran away with my vote last month.
I think this is the first time I've heard someone describe what is likely the most polarizing album in recent memory as "forgettable." Love it or hate it, I think it's an extremely memorable record, and one that rewards multiple visits.
I came in fully prepared to give my vote to Vampire Weekend, but the more I've listened, the more R.A.M. clicks.
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories.
I didn't mean to imply it was forgettable. I said it was a good album, just not one that I will continue to go back to like I do with some of their other albums. I've listened quite a bit since it came out and it grew on me a bit, just not my thing I guess?
[ I hate to sound like that guy but it really just isn't the DP record I wanted to hear. It's smooth, and groovy, and really good. But I just can't fully get into it. I do have high hopes for the remix album they have announced though.
BTW, have they actually announced this remix album? I'm gonna super disappointed if they f*ck up this masterpiece of studio musicianship by tossing a bunch of untz on top.

Ok, so it looks like they've only announced a remix of Get Lucky.
It's not clear whether Daft Punk will be remixing all of Random Access Memories — or if they'll turn the album over to other artists for re-workings, similar to what they did with their soundtrack to "Tron: Legacy" (or 2005's Human After All album) — a spokesperson for the duo did not respond to MTV News' request for comment at press time.
Forgettable is totally the wrong word. It will be remembered as the most over-hyped album of the decade. I will never forget how excited to hear an album as I was after having to wait weeks after hearing that wonderful "Get Lucky" track. ...only to be hit in the face by a bag of diccks with the Disney logo branded into them. I like the album for the most part, but I really just wanted to make that analogy here since this thread is currently being used as the RAM thunderdome instead of that 9 page RAM thread where we're currently discussing yo mama's minivan losing itself to dance.

The questions is whether they'll remix ALL the songs or just a few. I'm sure they'll end up remixing more than just the one song. And I'm sure they'll give some other artists spots too.

I don't know - my take from this Pete Tong interview- www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p018rvjb (which is where MTV got their info, I think) is that they definitely plan self-mixes of multiple songs, of which Get Lucky will be first. But, yeah, maybe not an actual re-mix album per se.
Well, I love the Daft Punk and the VW, I really like the National, Deerhunter and Mikal Cronin. By the end of the year, DP and VW might be my top two albums of the year. Right this minute, though, I'm going to have to be a lone vote guy again this month. I can't stop playing this album - it's wonderful. My vote:

guess I need to listen to this. also Laura Marling came out today, that could be a factor.
This month kicked ass, so I felt weird just giving a one album answer.
