As a non fan (of the band), who attended the game, U2 in 2002 was by far, and will forever be, the greatest Super Bowl Halftime Show EVER. No questions asked, everyone else is playing for second place. I still get goosebumps every time I hear "Where the Streets have No Name". One of two times I've cried at a show in my life.

Oh yeah. A good friend of mine works at Pascal's Manale in NOLA. Jay-Z and Beyonce came in there after the game to eat. He said "They played charades in the dining room." and when someone asked about the tip: "Stiffed us. Didn't leave a dime. No, I'm kidding, they were extremely nice and quite generous."

I'm pretty indifferent about Beyonce but the opening number for her halftime show was spectacular. From there it cooled but I never lost interest, though it was only a 15 minute show. Not really sure how I'd do at a full show. I honestly can't recall halftime shows before the Stones' set so I'm no doubt doing an injustice to Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson & U2. I love the Who but they let me down a couple years ago when they had the spotlight. Madonna was just okay and I detest the Black Eyed Peas. Not particularly being a Tom Petty fan I was more impressed by his set than I expected to be. Thus my top 3 then would have to be:
Excited for Paul McCartney, Grizzly Bear, Bjork, The National, Animal Collective, Beach House, Kendrick Lamar, Swans, Tame Impala, Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Wilco, The xx, Nas, Japandroids, Solange, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Dirty Projectors & R. Kelly
Another mind melting Prince performance: The George Harrison Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Prince comes in at 3:32 but the entire thing is pretty incredible. The look on young Dhani Harrison's while he's playing face is also priceless.
