I'll make a post that I'll keep updated with the tally for this month, just for the fun of it:
Foxygen - We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic: 4 Local Natives - Hummingbird: 3 Tomahawk - Oddfellows: 2 Anais Mitchell & Jefferson Hamer - Child Ballads: 1 A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP: 1 California X - California X: 1 Blaudzun - Heavy Flowers: 1 Follakzoid - II: 1 FIDLAR - FIDLAR: 1
(not counting Sang's vote for Joy Formidable since he said he votes for Local Natives)
Here's our scorecard so far. I guess if everybody wants I can post the three highest vote-getters in three separate posts on Feb. 1 and whatever gets the most thumbs-ups is album of the month? Or we can just go by what has the most votes at the end of the month, which is what this tally is keeping track of.
Jul 7: Steely Dan / Steve Winwood (Mansfield MA) Jul 16: Hall & Oates / Sharon Jones (Mansfield MA) Jul 17: Paul McCartney (Boston) Jul 22-24: Newport Folk Aug 19: Ghostland Observatory (Philly) Aug 20: Prophets of Rage (Camden NJ) Sept 24: Copenhagen Beer Celebration (Boston) Oct 20: Die Antwoord (Boston)
I was really close to going with Foxygen on this, and I really do like that album a huge amount. That being said, I don't love it in the way I've come to love Heavy Flowers. It really does feel like an Arcade Fire side project of sorts, but without being rehashing what they've already done.
