I have always just sent tweets to bands and it while most bands do not respond a good number do. Dale Jr Jr, Black Lips, Grizzly Bear, Titus Andronicus, and a few others tweeted me back last year. I say keep it to to twitter. A lot of bands will message you instead of retweeting for the world to see.
No No gabfrab, none of that was meant for you. Just meant we were gonna stop, by all means you keep doing what you do haha.
I don't want to hurt their business by doing something they've now labeled unethical, but mostly I don't want to get in any kind of trouble with them haha. You hear that AC, I'm willingly stopping right now! I will post the responses I got from emails already out, but am sending no more. I honestly had already sent everything I could think of anyway. In regards to Why?:
Unfortunately, we're not playing either this year. We really tried for Bonnaroo, but it just didn't quite work out.

I think it is fun to get a confirmation from an artist via a tweet or after a show. That is how we have always done it. And it gives us enough to keep us going until the line-up drop. Maybe they'll give us a little clue assistance, so as to calm the rabid. :-)
I think it just crossed the line from shaking the presents under the tree, to unwrapping them and then trying to re-wrap them. Which ends badly for everyone.
I'm blamin the dude on fb that posted it on there wall. I really doubt they would've ared if it stayed on here but it spilled over for way too many people to see
Yeah that dip apparently messed it up for everyone. We emailed agents/managers last year too and it seemed like Bonnaroo tolerated it as they never reprimanded us. We got lots of good info though. I'm so excited for lineup day now to help fill in the edges around these awesome names we have.

The official word is:
Since this thread in years past had started as the Artist Direct Confirmation[/u] thread we would like to go back to that. Get the confirmations from the bands themselves. Ideally you could get an answer at a concert/show or get them to respond on twitter or facebook. If they have a public e-mail address then go ahead and try that.
Stick with contacting artists. Please leave the bookers/managers and all that alone. We can't control what you do but from now on if your confirmation comes from that we won't use it. They're clearly annoyed by it and since we know SF/ACE are aware of this we don't want to piss off the wrong people. Also don't want to get anyone in trouble. Needs to come from the artists directly.
We appreciate the enthusiasm and effort of everyone who has contacted anyone in the past. It's been great but we'd like to take this thread back to what it originally was. It's more fun to get it from the band themselves anyway. Thanks everybody....back to your regularly scheduled program
