You're saying you want Wiz Khalifa to play on Thursday? And that he can hold down the Which when he played on the What in 2011? Have you ever been to Bonnaroo? Keep him away
I'm saying he's not as good as the slot they gave him last time? Yes. I saw him on his latest 2050 tour, it was a good show. He's not a good rapper, but he had good stage production when his whole crew came along. The the slot I'm talking about is Yelawolf's from last year. Do I believe Wiz's inflated ego will let him play anything less than sub-headliner (or get paid as such)? No, but I can dream, right? It's good party music to help kick off the weekend, nothing more.
I went in 2007 & 2012, with not much interaction between the dates, so I'm not familiar with every lineup between the two, or before.
Let's put it this way:
Thursday is for lesser known up-and-coming acts trying to make a name for themselves. You go from Thursday to Fri/Sat/Sun, not the other way around.
Wiz either comes back for a similar set, or not at all (I'm hoping it's "not at all"). I watched his set at Roo, it was turrible.

Guess your opinion is the only one that matters here.
I'm looking for Curren$y & Wiz some day - it won't happen until they do a true record together (which has been talked about but hip-hop is a mess with collaborations). Wiz has gotten better over the years -- but he's not a prolific rapper -- it's just fun trap music. If you asked for more than that, give up.
Clearly, Wiz got that spot to be a counter to M&S -- The other choices on a hip-hop level in 2011 would have only been Lil'Wayne for that time slot. Which obviously wouldn't have made that much sense.

C'mon, you know that's not how I am. I'm actually surprised that you're such a big Wiz fan, to be honest, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a fan of certain stuff that people wouldn't guess. I just thought his set, as far as hip-hop performances go, was pretty lackluster. I went there expecting to have a fun time, but I got bored pretty quickly. I wasn't going there expecting a set with intricate rhymes or a lyrically-driven performance, I just didn't find it all that entertaining.
A Curren$y/Wiz set (if a solo Curren$y set was out of the question) is something I could definitely get on board with, but Wiz solo isn't a performance I would want anytime soon.

It's cool just wish the vitriol was saved for his bowling pants

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

did you just say Wiz is trap?
thats what I was thinking. Wiz is equivalent to Flo-Rida IMO now. He wears scarfs and fedoras, i mean come on. Kush & OJ is the only thing that was pleasant to my ears, I'm a fan of Visons and The Kid Frankie

You know what? I'll just delete the post instead of humoring you any longer. Sorry for the offense.
Wow, how about you go put on your man pants and stop being a little baby?
You said you've been to two Roo's ('07 and '12), and don't have a great handle on how this sh*t works. I do. I wan't being a d*ck, I was answering your dumb question which would be obvious to anyone who has looked at a Roo schedule the past few years.
But thanks for letting me know that I should respond to any further inquiries with complete and unrelenting contempt.
Wiz will nevereverevereverevereverever play a Thursday set unless they change the entire festival setup.

I never said he would everevereverevereverever play Thursday. I just think I'd enjoy it. I know there's a sacred Bonnaroo ritual of up-and-coming artists on Thursday, I'm not a quacking moron. I was simply saying it would be a fun Thursday.
Hip-hop hipsters ITT.
Yes, and I'm sorry to be the bearer of a big, heaping pile of reality, but your dream is never going to happen.
It's not a ritual, it's sensible. Thursday is a huge travel day, so people would start off their weekend pissed if they missed a top-tier act.
And just a pro tip, if you're going to be this sensitive you probably should stay the hell out of the Troo Music Lounge. On a scale of 1 - Ryanhasthon, this was a -0.5. You won't last very long if any time someone disagrees with an opinion you get worked up into a hissy fit.
Freddie Gibbs with or without Madlib Action Bronson Pro Era, Black Hippy, Odd Future or ASAP Mob Just Blaze & Baauer (who are touring together I guess?) Death Grips El-P/Company Flow/Killer Mike Cannibal Ox (though I heard their reunion gig was ass) Wu-Tang (full lineup) Clams Casino Flatbush Zombies Tech N9ne Tribe Called Quest (yeah yeah i know, not likely) Juicy J/Three Six Mafia Bone Thugs n Harmony

Curren$y is a perfect fit. Him and Action Bronson just performed together in Nola two nights ago, would be a good fit together. A$AP and Bronson always show each other love at festivals. The three of them together would give Roo a great hip hop base.

Omg this would make the happiest little girl in the world!
But seriously, if those 3 are there I'll be really happy.
Maybe I'm getting old but I really am not into this whole new wave of hip hop artists. Gibbs, A$AP, Kendrick, etc. I didn't even like most the hip-hop last year aside from Black Star. If I had to pick one to be at roo though it'd definitely be Odd Future. Or better yet a Capt. Murphy ft. EARL show.
Am I the only one who thought the "The Money Store" album from Death Grips was absolute garbage??
No, you basically either really like them or you hate them, from what I can tell. Not a lot of people "kind of like" Death Grips.
I agree with this. I'd also add that if you're going into it prepared for just a straight hip hop album, you'll likely be disappointed. I honestly don't know if I'd even call Death Grips hip hop. I honestly don't know what I'd call them, besides awesome.

If you're not in to "new wave of hip hop artisits" but still want something fresh, def check out Joey Bada$$. When you name your mixtape 1999, you have some throwback aspirations.

I'm glad I wasn't alone on this. I had seen talk on this thread about hopefully getting them on the lineup this year so I decided to check them out and couldn't even remotely understand what their appeal is.
Also, I don't care much for this Action Bronson guy. Hopefully a crowd will be at his tent to free up some space at a show I prefer to see. Lets get some Memphis rap such as 8ball & MJG
