Oh, ok. Was wondering about that myself. This song didn't really give any sort of Olympic vibe. Song should pop up on the Internet by the end of the night though.
Okay, for real this time. The first single from The 2nd Law. Dubstep free.
I'm a fan of MUSE and I wanted to like it I swear but I just DON'T. I do like the guitar solo near the end but I hate the power falsetto at the end (ain't over till the fat lady sings)
"We've basically tried to do what Rage Against the Machine did with hip-hop in the 1990s and take a bit of the electronic world and dubstep and play it with real instruments," frontman Matt Bellamy explained in an interview with BBC Radio 1 (via NME), adding that "the album's got lots of different faces," but assuring fans that "there's only one track like that."

I've seen Muse three times, one as an opening act (for U2), as the headlining act at a concert (the Silversun Pickups opened, which was pretty awesome in itself) and in a festival setting (VOODOO), and I may see them if they're on the farm. I love the show they put on, but I generally skip one headliner to rest up for latenight and if the other headliner (PRINCE) is someone I haven't seen/really want to see, I'll miss Muse for sure. they will kick ass at Bonnaroo, though.
Gotta love it when, in this day and age, some people don't consider computers and mixers "real instruments".
Honestly, I think there's a difference between tools and instruments.
adding unique sounds that can't be put in with "normal" instrument = cool. doing things like loops, or adding effects that enhance the natural sound = cool.
artificial "womp womp" from a box = not cool. substituting any live instrument for a synthesizers rendition of said instrument = not cool.
.... my only requirement is the music sound real. id rather hear a kick drum than a repetitive sound from an artificial sounding source.

For what its worth, I do like Madness, the first single from their new album. I think Survival was a bad song though. Also, I have seen Muse live and they were better than I expected. I wouldn't be upset with them at Roo. Preferred over The Killers, who I have also been and the show was just aight.

That is all subjective though. If a computer is used in the composition of a musical arrangement, it is a musical instrument whether you think it's "cool" or not. Your preference of a live kick-drum (I prefer that as well) over a looped kick sample is irrelevant.

I'm actually the exact opposite. I was happy with Survival but Madness was just meh...I kept expecting more out of the tune but it never really happened for me. Just meh. Glad others are liking it though.

This comment bugs me quite a bit. Should electric guitarists stop using effects and make sure their guitar never sounds like anything but a guitar? It is an electronic instrument...
Also, since when is using a synth not playing a live instrument? Pretty sure most keyboard/synth players in quality bands are giving it hell and are skilled musicians.
How about this guy? No good because it all comes from a synth?
On Topic: I'd be perfectly fine with Muse being at roo next year. I've never seen them and while not a big fan (mostly from lack of exposure), their live show looks pretty awesome.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

But there will be waaaay to many good shows going on that week to waste my time in some obnoxious line for Muse! But good call, I hadn't considered that gap to be spent there but it makes perfect sense.
My thought is that they will tour the rest of the US over the summer. We shall see.
$80 dollars is steep but the view from up top might even be steeper. That's a lot of money for Muse but if it's your one chance to check out their new stage show then you might have to do it. Supposed to be ridiculous.
