And you will never be loved. See it hurts right? Sorry. But really you only think that because daft punk has been asked for every year and hasn't been there and it looks like they won't be there again this year. But they haven't done much of anything for the last five years. Back when they have an album out they played lolla. Since then they haven't done shiz. So when ever they finish they're Album, they will tour and they will play Bonnaroo and coachella.
This would be a dream top 3 for 2014. I don't think Waters will ever come to Roo, but I think Daft Punk is a real possibility for 2014. And it would be wonderful if we finally got to see Jacket grab the Sunday headliner spot they so deserve in 2014.
Have faith my friend. I see Roger waters coming to Roo in the future. Maybe not with the wall as he has been doing that show for a whial now. but who knows maybe Roo will get dark side of the moon and animals with Nick mason and maybe Gilmore. As long as waters is alive and playing shows Roo will try and book him and one day they will.
[/img]
YES YES YES! love the positive thinking man. I got sh T on months ago when I brought up Bowie in a wishlist. so after all the shiz tonight about we can't get Daft punk , Waters , and the beleif that Qotsa one of (in my opinion ) the best rock bands of our generation ( gen y ) can't level up. this news of bowie is very nice
Coulda said the same thing about the Black Keys three year ago...ya never know.
Naw. QOTSA have unfortunately hit the ceiling. Subs.
But I hear the new record will be awesome. Dave and Josh have amazing chemistry.
Here's a note from the band...
"A stitch in time will save you 9, but … there’s no way we could have prepared for the journey up the river that is this album. In our grand plan, we envisioned our lives and recordings running like clockwerk. However, the reality has been manic and unpredictable. These songs aren’t recollections of the times we had. They are depictions of what we are going through in real time. It means even a bad event can turn into an unforgettable song — at least for us, ha.
The record sounds like running in a dream inside a codeine cabaret. I hope you understand what that means, cause we don’t. Sounds like a load of pretentious s—! What? Gotta go, the therapist says our time is up…
that sounds great! crazy makes for the best art. NIN were much better when Trent was manically depressed. If this is the really mindset of the band and not just them joking around, then this album will be deep and honest and good very good. A lot of people are very excited that Dave grohl is playing on this album and think thats why it will be good. I'm more excited about the presents of nick oliveri who was half of queens creative force for the first three albums of the band. he has a much deeper connection with homme and I think makes Josh better with all the chaos he brings to the table.

Oh God Bowie? Waiting another week for the Coachella lineup is gonna be brutal.
I'd think Bowie will play at least some shows, but I'd just imagine a lot of other fests would want him more ($$$ wise) than Roo.
As for Daft Punk, their 2007 tour had become the very definition of legendary. They are the single most asked for band at every fest every year. Daft Punk rumors is a whole cottage industry that causes grown men to piss themselves on a regular basis. They were billed second at Vegoose 07. They headliners. I understand that seeming a little strange if you don't know them well, but they absolutely are.
Paul McCartney | My Morning Jacket | Widespread Panic | Mumford & Sons | Fleetwood Mac
I would take this. I would love to see MMJ move all the way to #2 on the lineup. I do think it is more likely that Jim tours solo, but they could certainly do a one-off for Bonnaroo.
And I would love if Bowie was signed on for the #1 spot instead of McCartney, but the chances of that happening seem pretty slim.

I think Daft Punk will play 1 or 2 shows this year and a world tour in 2014.

This is unlikely. I can't see MMJ being billed above WP after the 2011 lineup where WP was billed above MMJ.
I wish it could, but most probably not.
Why not? If one band keeps growing in popularity and career, while the other stays stagnant, why can't one pass the other?
I don't think it'll happen this year, since MMJ won't be there, but if for whatever reason Widespread isn't there this year I could see a situation where they are billed 4th or 5th behind MMJ, but still close Sunday night.
The biggest issue with this hypothetical is that one is almost definitely headlining this year, while the other almost definitely won't be there.

What about a situation like 2009?

FRIDAY The Black Crowes (6-7.30) -> Mumford & Sons (8.30-10) -> Widespread Panic (11-2) Paul Simon (8.45-10.45)
SATURDAY Fleetwood Mac (6-8) -> Paul McCartney (9-12.30) Björk (1-3)

I love the massive gap in reasoning that allows you to go from "Bowie is releasing a new album" to "my misguided belief that Bowie will play Bonnaroo has been validated." Bravo.

No just the possibility that he could play. It just proves that he is alive and still looking to make music. Remember we got the police in 07 and they didnt do anything new.
Update: According to the Guardian, Bowie has no plans for interviews or live dates. A spokesman for the musician said he “writes and performs what he wants when he wants.”
