I wish Hangout would just announce Mumford & Sons already so I can be spared from having to read all the stupid/unrealistic predictions for the third headliner when I click "Recent Posts."
I thought the realistic pick was Stevie Wonder now.
I remember reading posts claiming sources said Stevie was offered, but it sounded like unconfirmed nonsense to me because nobody gave any actual sources. Stevie would be an awesome get for Hangout, but he doesn't seem like a fit for 3rd headliner in my opinion (even though he was listed behind KoL inexplicably at Bonnaroo '10).

I think it was just a rumor. Somebody got an idea of someone that fit Hangout's "style" and ran with it. Petty's the "legacy" act here though. I think they're looking for another big rock act.
One could argue the Sound City Players is a legacy act, but it's so rare for that to happen it probably wouldn't matter.

Th3rd Man and Phi both heard that an offer was out to Stevie. He's played Roo, OSL, and ACL in recent years, so he's not shy about playing festivals. Seems like the kind of act Hangout would contact if they were scrambling for a third headliner. Why is that so far-fetched? You're talking up Sound City Players based on literally nothing.

I have a music industry friend here in Nashville who told me Stevie Wonder was sent an offer also. Id say that part is true. Whether he's booked, who knows.
EDIT: And this was told to me before I even saw the other post made by Th3rdman. When I came here to post it is when I saw his post.

I can't even get a hold of my buddy. Take that is you want. Personally, that doesn't seem to bode well.
If all their headliners fell through, good luck in opening negotiations with another big name less than 3 months before the fest. These things take a lot of time to plan...stage setups, logistics, etc...if they aren't in talks with someone right now, this is looking very very bad.
Green Day fell through on Voodoo last year like a month before the fest and they were able to confirm Metallica a week later. And Metallica requested the most elaborate stage setup that has ever been at voodoo and they were able to handle it with only 3 weeks notice. There's plenty of time to get whoever they want. They might already have the headliner locked and are putting together the rest of the lineup before making the announcement.
Apologies for my grumpy post last night. I had a little fire water in me. I hope you guys get something good, but the longer it takes while tickets are already on sale, the less likely that seems.
What if...people in this thread..considered the amount of dumb in their posts...for longer than 2 seconds before posting it, because they can
For some reason, I read this as if Patrick Bateman was telling it to me. It made more sense that way.
Well, I could, then I wouldn't be a lower life form for you to judge. So I will keep my dumb and you keep your smart and the world will stay even keeled and all will be well
No. I asked who you would pick for the final headliner if it was your choice. You answered that you wish they would go ahead and get it over with and announce Mumford as if you hated the idea but it was inevitable. So, who would you like to see take the third spot if it was your choice?

Somebody posted on the Hangout's Facebook page that a friend that works at Gulf Shores airport saw a flight booked coming in from MN on Saturday and leaving for Vegas on Sunday. He suggested that it could be Prince. 5 minutes later the post disappeared from the site. Interesting.

With this in mind, and to answer my own question, this would be my number 1 somewhat reasonable get.

Ah. My inability to comprehend that was probably fire water-related. I still think it will be Mumford, but at this point I don't know of very many legitimate reasons why it hasn't already been announced if that's the case. Mumford seems like a good fit for the festival. It will not be a #1-type act, because it does not make any sense to withhold that announcement after tickets go on sale.
If not Mumford, I believe it will be someone on their booking level or lesser. I think Beck could be a great choice, but I don't know if that is even a consideration. The Lumineers could possibly fit based on their current buzz. I could see Vampire Weekend working as well. I don't know about the availability of any of these acts, but that is the level of act I would expect.
Why is it that HOF doesn't drop their entire lineup at once like other festivals? They must know that they are creating more negative press/vibes for themselves, just look at their FB page, they are getting shat on left and right. I know this has been their MO at least for 2011, 2012, and 2013 (I didn't attend in 2010). If they are not doing this deliberately then why are they having such a difficult time securing artists? Festivals of comparable size that are playing after HOF have already dropped their full lineup. I apologize in advance if these questions have already been asked/answered.
Prince is meh to me until I see him live. Given the collective orgasm response he gets on here, I'm sure my mind will be blown.
I thought the exact same thing. My finace loved Prince and everything that he's ever done. I'm more of a jamband guy that loves to see Phish shows. She's put up coming with me to those... so I surprised her a few years ago and we got floor tickets to Prince at MSG for his Welcome 2 America shows. I think he did like 3-4 at MSG. Let me tell you what, he blew my socks off. Absolutely amazing show and the audience was incredible. Prince is quite the performer and he jams like a boss. If you've never given him a chance... I'd start with the Loring Park sessions from 1977. Here's the link and some info... just something to listen to today for all you weirdos that are complaining.
Prince :: Loring Park Sessions 1977 Get ready for some FUNK! This is Prince at age 19, and is funky as hell. You absolutely MUST download this. Prince, Andre Cymone And Bobby Z Recorded instrumentals in the rehearsal room of Owen Husney's Loring Park office. They sound like well-crafted compositions rather than spur-of-the-moment jams. The tracks feature keyboards (Prince), Bass (Andre), Drums (Bobby Z).
