Thrilled to see that post, bdiddy! And mmm Cheerwine. I'm going to have to bring a case with me. Luckily it's gone national, so I can buy it here in Florida instead of having my mom send it to me from North Carolina! haha!
So everyone is torn about Trampled by Turtles. Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to decide how I can possibly make it to Aziz Ansari! He is my favorite comedian, and this will be my first time seeing him live. I've seen Avetts so many times, but like y'all have said, it's so hard to not go again. He has a set right before and right after the Avetts. But they overlap the set. It's so awkward and annoying.

Figured I'd ask here. Has anybody been listening to the Carpenter? In Winter in my Heart any idea what the instrumentation is? I keep thinking I'm hearing someone playing a saw. Possible but that would be unusual for the boys IMHO. Thanks.
Well these days Scott is looking finer than Colin Firth in a Jane Austen movie.
Whoa, buddy...careful with those sweeping generalizations! Sadly, Scott is starting to resemble Russell Brand (egads!) more than the clean-cut, dashing Mr. Firth.
And IMO, Bob is the hottest one in the band.
I find the hotness level to be variable depending on when you see them. Bob is certainly the most traditionally handsome but they all have their moments. I've been known to crush on Joe K from time to time
And please leave R. Brand out of any comparisons, ick!

Bob the hottest or most traditionally handsome? Y'all are crazy! Seth is where it's at and then Scott very closely behind. Bob, he's hot because he can play an upright bass like no one's business and he makes my ovaries hurt with being a sweet Dad but no one, NO ONE, is better than Seth. END OF STORY.
Oh and I'm not too thrilled with the new album. The songs are good but I don't feel heart in any of them except the one about his daughter.
^ haha! I have a friend who doesn't care for any of 'em except Joe. Yay for no girlie cat-fights over our musical crushes!
As for the album...my first impression after 1 listen is that it's OVERPRODUCED. The thing I love about them is that they're so laid-back in their style, both musically & personally. They're jeans & tee-shirts guys & the music usually reflects that. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just good ol' honest music from the heart. This album seems to have extra polish on it, and that doesn't fit them as well. Still, I love their music and can't wait to see 'em again next month.
OMG - Russell Brand? He's #1 on my most disgusting list. I don't see that AT ALL! lol
We saw Winter in My Heart live at Bonnaroo and there was definitely no saw but who knows??
I've probably listened to the new album at least 30 times and love it. Winter in My Heart is the only one that I'm not over the moon about. It's growing on me a bit though so maybe it will take awhile.
It does sound more polished but I don't mind because these guys are so amazing live and are always changing things. If you watch live videos from them performing Live and Die and compare it to the album it already sounds so different. That's one thing I love about them is you never know what song to expect or how it's going to sound. Look how much they've changed Kickdrum Heart recently. I think the actual produced album is only a piece of the big picture.
I'm really loving Pretty Girl from Michigan. I loved that song before but I really liked how they changed the arrangement and how it sounds. All the others are winners as well. I tear up everytime I hear A Father's First Spring. They are such good song writer's though, it's hard not to love everything they write.

Totally awesome moment during the NYC show on Monday......they had to replace a banjo and were killing time/jamming when Bob starts playing the bass line to Led Zeppelin leading he band to follow suit with a quick cover of Zeppelin's "How Many More Times"
It's not the best cover in the world but at the time it was awesome to see
When they finished it they got back to a rushed, mumbled version of the song they started with when the banjo broke, "I killed sally's lover".
