I dunno...I'm starting to think they replace the comedy tent with an extra stage and start spending that money on more music. I liked it back in the day, but nobody I've been with or around has been to any of the comedy shows in the past few years (except for attempts at the Conan ridiculousness).

i saw the 420 comedy blaze, the henson alternative thing, john waters, and lewis black last year... all of those shows were completely sold out and had long ass lines except for the henson alternative thing which was like %75 full, but it was the early show on sunday. when i saw aziz in 2010 that was completely sold out as well. they make good use of the comedy tent

The comedy tents usually get filled up. They wouldn't get rid of it because it's another way to avoid the heat and they are a decent draw for people. I always make sure to attend at least one comedy show.
I would love a Doug Loves Movies taping or just a Doug Benson stand-up set. If you don't listen to the Doug Loves Movies podcast and enjoy movies, you're missing out. It's great, and free, and he has had some fantastic guests in the past (People from Adam Scott and Aziz Ansari to Michael Rooker to Leonard Maltin have all been guests).
Also, I'd love for Louie to be there, but I feel like at this point, he's a bigger name in comedy than Aziz. If he were gonna be there, it probably would've been his name on the lineup. Then again, maybe it's just cause Aziz will emcee the What stage. Still crossing my fingers for him.

I really don't know why they don't do more podcast tapings. Maybe this year is the year.
They could easily get Doug Loves Movies and use standups/band members that are there for the contestants.
They could do a WTF Podcast taping or even a Comedy Bang Bang taping. I think it's be really cool. Maybe the sound bleed is an issue (always tend to hear loud stuff from the outside)

I disagree, I was in the tent a few times last year, and Donald Glover was one of my favorite acts of the weekend.
I just saw Portlandia last night, and it was a fun show. They mostly talked to each other and the crowd, and they'd bring out their instruments to play the show's songs. Wouldn't see them twice, but if they emcee'd some shows I'd be stoked.
My wishlist (in no particular order) is:
Pete Holmes John Hodgman Cast of Party Down (movies supposedly close to production) Second City or UCB improve team Reggie Watts Anthony Jesselnik Nick Kroll John Mulaney Amy Schumer Natasha Leggero and Patton Oswalt, Louis C.K. or Marc Maron for the comedy headliner, even if it's kind of been filled by Aziz EDIT: Todd Glass
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
I'd love to see Louis CK or Jim Gaffigan on the comedy lineup. I'm really glad to see Aziz return this year. His '10 act at Roo was and still is the only time I've set foot in the Comedy Tent.

thats weird. there was nobody at john waters sunday. we walked right in and had front row.

Does anyone recall if they usually put the comedy headliner on the initial lineup? I can't recall from past years, but seeing Aziz's name on the lineup got me thinking they might have gotten some sense and decided to put a comedy act in a tent or on a stage. I know this is VERY wishful thinking, just wondering if anyone could clear that up for me?

^ He'll probably be doing something on the main stage. Chris Rock was on the actual lineup in 2008 and did an hour set on the What stage before one of the headliners. Conan O'Brien was also on the actual lineup in 2010 and MC'ed the main stage for Friday and Saturday. Aziz will probably do something along those lines
Trailer Park Boys are touring the US in May. I see no reason they wouldn't add a show on 2 weeks later. I'd do atrocious things to see either Louis CK or The Always Sunny cast, but with Aziz coming I think they're unlikely.
