so this guy that I have been friends with for almost 40 years just posted a horribly racist and inappropriate meme on Facebook. I defriended him immediately. See ya dude. It's kinda sad....damn. What the fuck is wrong with people? this is 2014. I've worked hard to overcome the prejudice that I was raised with (by my mother anyway) and don't need that crap. Still, it's weird severing ties with someone you've known so long and have shared good times with in the past.

It's very sad. In a similar vein, I am continually astounded by the number of white people that think it's okay to use the n-word. And I'm not talking about older generations, or people in the South. I'm talking college-educated mid-twenties people. I admit that it's one of those things that I can get pretty self-righteous and bent out of shape about, but damn it bothers me to no end.

Bonnaroo is spamming facebook with ads to buy tickets pretty much every other day. It makes me wonder if the festival is underselling a little bit down the home stretch this year.
I'm not worried about Bonnaroo's bottom line (it'll be fine) and in fact I prefer a year that doesn't "sell out." Even 5,000 less people on the farm can make a huge difference in crowd density. Just curious if I'm looking too much into things, or if we can expect a slightly smaller turnout this year.
Over/under on the festival announcing an imminent sell out within the next 10 days?
bansheebeat - be careful! I hope everything turns ok and that you're safe! Sorry to hear about your cartoons (again!) and hopefully your internet comes back quickly if you've already lost it.

Mu best friend does this all the time and every time she says it I give her my most reproachful look. She knows how much it bothers me and I've lectured her enough times that she doesnt do it sober anymore, but when she's drunk it can't be stopped. I don't understand how people don't understand that it's offensive.
Then my brother is a whole different story. He's very... Conservative? Would be the word? He pretty much differed in all views from me and is very closed minded. At thanksgiving this year he and my step dad and uncle got into a conversation that deeply offended me. I told them I was going to go fill my glass of wine and when I came back the conversation needed to be over because it was offensive, hurtful, disrespectful, and inappropriate. They just couldn't understand why I was offended, which was even worse.

They spam that every year, so I don't think it means much in what the crowd will be. As many have noted, they have recently seemed to reach a "sell out" right around the same time that it would be impossible for them to ship tickets before the festival.
HAHAHAHAHA that tree still hasn't fallen? Oh my. It's really hanging in there.
Scary about the tornado, happy no one was hurt!!
It's still hanging on, cracking & creakin' away. It's all tangled up in another dead tree.
Set up a tent you wouldn't miss or park a car you wouldn't mind seeing kershmushed for the insurance money directly under the tree in the direction you would like the tree to fall. Should take care of your problem right quick.

It's funny you say that because my mom has been having some terrible issues with her car. We've been joking about just taking it once it gets back from the shop and parking it under that tree.
You ever realize something so glaringly obvious that you feel stupid for not realizing it sooner? Well, last week I noticed that Jack WHITE + Meg WHITE = The WHITE Stripes. Like how the hell did I not realize that the band name was a reference to their actual names? (Don't answer that).

Flo Rida is from FloRida. Blew my mind when I found out.

ufffff....i cant share my random thoughts but that are awsm
What you think happened: you discovered the lost art of living a meaningful life, discussed the nature of the human spirit, and gained a deep appreciation of craftsmanship.
What actually happened: you spent two hours in the bathroom turning on and off the sink, then spent the next three hours walking into people's rooms saying "yknow what I mean? Like, everything is something". The next day you find all of your jeans inside the freezer.

I prefer to keep my personal life out of work. I don't have a lot of work friends and I don't hang out with any of them outside of work. I tried to change that recently and now I see it was a mistake.

I don't tend to get too close to any of my co-workers, partly as a survival tactic and partly because I really don't have too terribly much in common with a lot of them. People have commented that I'm pretty quiet, and I do a lot of reading on breaks - which is pretty unusual. I stay out of drama. It especially works when you're a pro-union socialist working for a Fortune 100 retailer.
