I don't think sundresses, without something such as a sweater or cardigan over them, are appropriate in an office. I wear my dresses with a cardigan so you can't see the small (sometimes spaghetti) straps.
EDIT: I'm also a work clothing snob. I don't think sneakers are appropriate in a business casual environment either but people wear them all of the time so
I wear sneakers with my work clothes. Only bc I do a lot of walking and I'm a long distance runner.... support is a big deal to me. I can't wear high heels and I refuse to just to look cutesy. I will on a date but for work.. PSH! lol i know.. weird.

With thin straps- spaghetti or only a few inches like above- I always pair it with a shrug. If they are thick enough, I think it's fine. For example, I have many sheath dresses that I wear by themselves:
I agree on sneakers although I wear open toed sandals. I am behind the scenes most of the day, so no one really sees me. They have to get a few locked doors (codes needed) in order to get to me. If I were the receptionist or something that actually deals with people, I would dress a little nicer.
Yes, that dress is fine. What I meant is with sundresses, most of the time you have small straps, which I don't think is appropriate for an office. Plus, i would freeze to death in this meat-locker-called-an-office if I didn't have on something else
It's forecast to be 70 degrees here; quite a few ladies are making bold workwear choices in anticipation of voluntary skin exposure outdoors - something we have not been able to enjoy since October.
A woman in my office decided to wear a full length (draggin on the ground) wispy black skirt. So wispy it is ultra-sheer; she is wearing a solid black mid-thigh skirt on underneath the see-through thing. This is paired with a full arm length cardigan with huge collar over whatever is the top that goes with the wispy. Alternate percussionist theory in practice.
I work in financial services, and only wear dress shoes when a client or colleague would be uncomfortable with anything less (read: rarely). I think dress shoes are bullshit in that they are a real class divider. The only reason they exist is to silently communicate: I work a job in which I need (and can afford) special shoes - not steel toe, not slip safe - these 'dress' shoes are special in that they are good for doing nothing else but sitting around. In fact, if I tried to use these for the intended purpose of shoes - covering my feet from the elements / hazards - they would promptly fall to pieces in a heap of ruined leather. As you see me wearing them you are instantly aware of my station in society, and unless you are in the "Barker Black" club with me, you probably feel worse / start to question your place. Or at least envious.
Envious of dead animal rinds with which I wrap my feet. Das stoopid, and I won't contribute.
I was just about to say what Jazmo said. There have been at least..... 4 break ups on the board recently that I know of. 5 if I include myself (but I'm starting to not include myself as "recent" anymore and I've moved on to "recent-ish"- 7 year relationship ended in Decemeber.) . You're not alone, I'm sorry that it ended, but things always have a way of working out for the better. If you need to talk I'm all ears stay positive.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Do we have an appropriate thread where I can spew my shit about this (probably next time I drunk).

well, there is the Grrrr thread & the drunken rambling thread depending on which you feel is more appropriate at the time. I frequent the drunken rambling thread almost every Friday, I have it bookmarked. Maybe I'll see you there this weekend? Lol

yeah drunken rambling may be more appropriate. Not really mad in a grrrrrr kinda way. Just heartbroken is all.
I was going to take the kids on a bike ride to the ice cream shop but my 8 year old had a huge fit halfway there. I made them turn around and go home. Sometimes I REALLY hate following through with my threats. I wanted some fucking ice cream.

^^ me either. Anyone wanna come to Schenectady and cook a locally sourced banquet for 100? You won't get paid and you have to wear my name tag so I get marked present for class.

Let's swap. You come to Philadelphia and spend your morning preparing to ruin 7 people's records for possessing drugs. Then go listen to a miserable professor lecture on corporate finance...and then another about income taxation of trusts and estates. Try not to jump off the Ben Franklin bridge.

Reading that made me want to throw myself off the ravine in my back yard. I will go to class with a smile on my face today.
I had a Roo dream last night. Kanye was performing and jumped off of stage and was walking through the crowd. Everyone was reaching out trying to high five him and what not. Once he cleared the crowd he came into a clearing and starting talking about what he would do to improve Roo. To be fair, the Roo in my dream did look pretty bland so I agree with Kanye. He started complaining about the point of one of the buildings and how he'd plant at least 30 more tree's around so people would have shade. He walked around the crowd still talking about changes and I remember standing there in awe.
I walked up to random people and started talking about what just happened. All of a sudden this clearly intoxicated lady came out of the crowd.I had spoke and called her Monie, so I guess that's who it was. She stumbled passed me and walked over to one of the trench's as I tried to tell her about what Kanye just said. She just shrugged and started throwing up rainbow colored puke. Lot's of it. I then walked into the crowd and next thing I know I was in a grocery store. That dream has no importance though.

So yeah.
Lol!!! Yup, that sounds about right......
Edit: btw, thank you for the fantastic start to my day! I laughed pretty hard at this.
