I hate windows 8... almost as much as I hate how extremely sensitive the mouse and screen on this computer are. this is the universe laughing at how old I have gotten. by a completely random act (I think my arm may have accidentally bumped something while I was typing) i'm certain I will not be able to replicate in the foreseeable future I was able to close a window today!!!!

I've gotten REALLY Used to Windows 8 and think it's totally fine. I never use their "apps" and barely use the metro start screen unless I am searching for a file or changing a setting.
The mouse sensitivity and is something that you should be able to change in your settings

I'm still getting used to it myself. The screen is very sensitive. Be careful to not scroll over the "create post" button while formulating your thoughts or you may wind up with half completed posts here like I have done!

You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

Man I really hope this interview goes well later. Would basically be a career-maker. Why did they have to schedule it at 6PM? I'm just sitting here anxiously all day...

Also, what are the conditions like in Atlanta that they shut down the city? I heard it snowed like 2 inches and it was kinda cold. Is that true?
It's the lack of preparation that the city took (or didn't take) that caused the issues. Snow/ice isn't something they're used to or prepared for. It caught them off guard.
Two inches of snow and I'm maybe doing 45 on the highway instead of 70. Forget a four wheel drive winter driving machine, I drive a Ford Focus and the only special thing I got is snow tires. The state DOT and the town highway departments are pretty on the ball when it comes to handling winter weather.
Down South on the other hand, it seems like they don't bother. I know that snow and icy weather isn't common for Atlanta and other areas of the South, but it does happen (just about) every winter. Surprises me that there aren't a few plows or some dump trucks that treat roads in advance of winter storms.
I called a good friend today to wish him Happy 40th birthday and the conversation turned to music festivals for some reason. He told me about jambase (which I've heard of but never checked out) and now I see that Ringo is playing 2 hours from me in July. Shut up Dave. I have a chance to see half the Beatles in my life and I may take it.... dang it.
But it does seem like a cool site and there are more shows around here than I thought. It just sucks I have to drive so far to see so many of them. rebelbrad you didn't tell me so many people came through there. I'm jealous.

Are you still planning on going to Memphis in May? I heard Alabama Shakes will be there this year. #jealous

It really depends on the area you are in. The county we live in is usually pretty on top of things as far as treating roads, but there is also a ton of rural area. Those areas get left until last after all the main arteries are done. Also, geography is not our friend as tree coverage and hill drainage will leave ice patches around for days after everything else is gone.
This afternoon I had lunch with 2 friends for about 1.5 hours. No one looked at their cell phone throughout the entire meal. It was glorious. I can't remember the last time that happened.
Equally random thought/question (posed to everyone) - when was the last time you were sober when having sex with someone for the first time? Someone asked me this question once and it made me stop in my tracks and think a little bit. Kinda sad that we live in that type of society IMO.

...2009 thanks a lot, now I feel sad for some reason!

Forget having sex for the first time with someone, I legitimately just had to think about the last time I had sex sober period. That is pretty bad.

Here's my random thought of the evening: cheese whiz is a weird name for a gross food but it'd be even more disgusting if cheese whiz was a description of something that's happening to you in the bathroom. So things could always be worse.

yeah it is past my bedtime
It depends on what thing in the bathroom it is describing. Some happy things can happen in the bathroom.

I dunno man, "cheese whiz?" To me that's coagulated piss. And with that horrible thought it's hard to imagine any happy scenario involving cheese whiz and bathrooms.
Kind of like how I will forever hate the word "compile" because one day my brain broke down the syllables.
This is terrible, I quit for the night, I'm sorry.

hahaha If you break down "compile" I am more impressed than anything. That would take some work.
