And I thought I was a stickler. i had to go double check my resume to make sure that while I made my resume pretty I didn't screw up other stuff.
I'm legitimately surprised anyone would find this sticklerish. I'm not talking about accidentally missing a capitalization on a word, I mean literally everything on the app - name, address, previous employment - was void of capital letters. That tells me you're either lazy, you don't actually care about the job you're applying for, or you don't have basic education.
And I understand flipping off a camera - it's mildly funny or maybe you just don't want you're picture taken - but making it your prof pic tells me you are either immature, you think you're a badass, or just generally don't give a fuck about about things.
I was mostly joking. But honestly as a designer, my resume tends to be more aesthetically pleasing, along with having all the needed information, which is why I had to go look again. As esteban stated they might have been going for the same thing. I mean in a non-design job it does seem dumb to do that, but maybe they were trying to stand out? Idk. I agree with you, proper grammar and spelling and capitalization is important to not look like a moron when applying for a job.
As far as the facebook profile pic, I miss the days when my personal profile page on social media wasn't a source of consideration in the job process, but I also understand times change. I usually put my linkedin address on my resume so they will go there instead of trying to find me on Facebook. But I also have my shit pretty locked down and a non-friend can only see what I want them to see.
Isn't it stylistic that some people don't type in capitals though? I know it goes back to at least ee cummings, but it would seem to me that someone would do it for effect. That the effect is negative is a reasonable outcome though.
On a resume I could definitely see it being used stylistically, but our job application process is one of those where you fill out a web form before uploading your resume.

D'oh, I didn't realize this was on an online web form application!

While I like the free thinker defense, being that it's an online form, that just screams either "lazy" or "really old and never learned how to type."

I remember meeting someone from Macon, GA, who told me that their minor league baseball team was the Macon Whoopee.
When my grandmother passed away in 2012, my little sister (my favorite) and her husband picked up me, Kyle and my niece Savannah to go the funeral. Her husband is so fucking amazing that he stopped at all the unintentional innuendos along the way for me and Noel to take cheesy photos of.
We got Bad Cocks, Bush Pet Control and Chattahoochee. He made a sad occasion not as horrible as it could have been.
My son always impresses me, but sometimes I am super saddened by the fact that he grew up without a father. Today is one of those days due to the fact that he is signing up for the National Guard and this is the text conversation:
Kyle: where were u born again? Me: Columbia, MD Kyle: also idk my dads full name and DOB Me: (as heart breaks) It's on your birth certificate, but...(rest of the information)
All of those family members that cut/wrote him off have no idea how amazing of a person they are missing out on knowing. And what sort of person doesn't want to know their grandchildren, especially when they already lost a son? Kyle even has two younger siblings that have no idea he even exists, but the grandparents are involved in those kids lives. Moments like these are hard, regardless of Kyle's stance of you don't miss what you don't know.
