Why do people "Like" their own posts? It seems narcissistic, like blowing kisses to yourself in the mirror. What exactly is the point? ???
Damn, I can't decide if it's more sad or neurotic... If the simple task of cranking out a post drains your ego to the point that you need to give yourself a congratulatory pat on the back, then maybe you need a hug more than a thumb's up. Here, have one: ((( YOU ))).

The Golden Rule says to treat others as you would want to be treated. This fails because it denies personal preferences and it is true that sometimes others will not want to be treated the same way you enjoy being treated. A simple example of this are masochists.
The Platinum Rule says to treat others as they want to be treated. This fails because it opens itself up to a torrent of abuse. If you were to treat others as they want to be treated, constant sacrifice to others would be in order and everyone in the office would get a raise.
My own rule is simple and sweet: treat others with excellence.

I have a friend that does this. it's weird. he will also "like" all his own comments on his own post... that he's already "liked". He's a suuuuuper intelligent guy who works for a major computer/IT/programming/internet company, so i feel like asking him if he knows what the "like" button is for??? But then I feel like I'LL look like the dumb one when he answers me with some smartass comment..... oh well. i just learned to ignore it.

I do it occasionally. Just the other day in fact. 3 picture posts in the NFF thread. Although there are different reasons for doing this depending on the post. I did it because I am proud of the pictures. When you spend a lot of time editing then finally see them in a different setting they really make you happy. I suppose it is just one of those things that really strikes a nerve with some people. If it makes me an egomaniac or sad or neurotic, I guess I am just sad, neurotic, and self absorbed. Seeing someone "like" their own post never really made me feel one way or the other. Guess we all react differently.

I get that G. But I mean that i have one friend who likes ALL of his posts and ALL of his comments. .................literally ALL of them. Pictures are different. Albums different. But to just "like" your own comment is saying - "Im really behind my own opinion."...I think that's implied by taking the time to type it out and hit the submit button, right?

^ oh, FFS.... relax! I understand why YOU would w/your pics, since I know how much effort you put into getting the shot & making them look as good as possible. I wasn't necessarily referring to those posts or just you. I've seen other people do it, too, and it still seems strange. It was merely an observation.

No I understand. But since I did it I was just explaining why, that is all. No worries.

Yea, I can see the difference between a photo post and and a text type post.

Apologies for double post: I just came up with the best game ever. Use whatever group of people you please (friends, co-workers, family, etc.) and give them old school (sorry, non-PC term here) Indian names. for example, there is a dude in my office that has been referred to as the Bullhorn bc he talks SO LOUD ALL THE TIME. ...and he's a chatter. One of those that'll stand in your doorway for 45 min talking about non-work things and wasting your time... New Indian name? ""Speaks Loud like Thunder, Makes Point like Dull Spear." There is also a person I know that thinks she is the like, police of who is where at what time, and also has the delightful personality trait of changing her mind from minute to minute to suit her needs at that moment... New Indian Name? "Ol' Hawk-Eye Changes with Wind"... What about the guy who thinks he's in charge of everyone, and wants to be up in everyone's biz but rarely gets anything done bc he's NOT acutally in charge? "Stirs Pot like Chef, Tribe Goes Hungry"...
This has entertained me whilst I write reports this morning.

When Holls posts grammatical lessons, I immediately go back to my most recent posts making sure that IF i used the words/grammar in question, that I did it correctly.

^ If it makes you feel any better, I made a typo yesterday (and learned about in chat! Oh, the horror! ) *and* I made a grammatical verb tense error while drunk posting @ MikeD's pool party. Ohhh yeah. It happened.
You guys - I dont remember if there is a thread for this so here goes - The Inforoo t-shirts. Need help with customizer.
If I want to make one with my name on the back and all that, and Im in the customizer program - When I pick the t-shirt I want, and then put the contest winner design (World's Finest Threads) on it, the background of the design is white... I want the font of the design to be white but not the background - i want that to be the Tshirt! Like - on GF's shirt, he got that lovely eggplant color, with his name and such - and there certainly isnt a giant white square on the front of his shirt.... so my question is: for those of you that customized, do i need to match the background of the "design" with the color of the shirt? Or does that giant white block disappear when printed?

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
We dont really have a DOH! thread. So mine goes here. I made a huge mistake on customer! DOH! Let them over pay multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now I have to call them.

<Gulp>
Hence, The "Office Space" Rule:
If you allow them to overpay by just a fraction of a penny at a time, soon enough we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars. And they'll never even miss it.

Do you work in finance? I don't know another industry where you can pull this off without being killed for it.
My roommate runs payroll for Morgan Stanley and he's paid the wrong people million dollar checks, or forgot to pay the right people their checks at all.

Not quite finance. I work in logistics for extremely large shippers. This company pays something like $3million a week to their vendor. I didnt have a control in place for a new account it accumulated over about 5 weeks. So like a 2.5% over payment happened.
I didnt get killed. The customer was like, Ok. Will you email them and get it fixed? I was like, Yeah.
