If you're looking to change it up, another Alanta brewery took over Sweetwater's slot in Concourse A. I may go there today instead since I've never had it, and Sweetwater is widely available.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Chicagoans... is November 14th too late to visit your city? Like will it be Hoth by then or will it still be tolerable. I've got a week of PTO I need to use between now and the end of the year and Chicago seems as good a place as any.

It will be cold. It gets cold here around Halloween but November is not a big snow month. Snow here is a December-March thing here.
Cool. I think I'm going to go for it. I just didn't want to dig out of my hotel room every morning.
Inforoo said I was banned from the Forum earlier when trying to login from the airport. I had a small panic about it - what else would I do with my internet time?

Haha. I'm connected on their Wi-Fi fine. I think one of the mods is plotting on you.

I smoked some ribs tonight. I've smoked wings and ribs 3 times since getting my smoker last Saturday. I'm in love with my smoker! Pics are on snapchat.

upright or side firebox?
Upright, and it's actually electric. I'm too busy at this point to sit there and regulate the temp all day, so my first smoker just went with easy, steady electric.

I've never used an electric. I've had two with side fireboxes, but I think I am going to get a weber smoky mountain at some point. They are really easy to set the vents and maintain a temp all day. the side fireboxes have a huge cooking surface and are convenient for adding more fuel, but they are finicky with temp. and during football season I spend all day saturday smoking chickens and ribs and whatever veggies we have in the fridge.

What veggies specifically? I want to try some veggies on saturday. And what kinda wood do you use for veggies? I tried a green pepper in hickory and didn't love it.

Google "Atomic Buffalo Turds." Smoke them with apple wood chips.

like SupeЯfuЯЯyanimal suggested, bacon wrapped jalapenos. or I get the little sweet peppers and stuff them with goat cheese and wrap in bacon.
keep in mind that most veggies that aren't wrapped with meat or stuffed in side it will take much less time to cook, and can be added near the end when most of the smoking wood is nearly gone.
Artichokes - throw them on there raw for about 10 minutes to get some smoke and char, then wrap them in aluminum foil with olive oil and garlic and set them aside to roast for about 30-45 minutes. corn is great for direct or indirect heat. if you do put it in the smoke chamber, make sure you soak them, in the husk, to make sure there is plenty of moisture or you'll just make popcorn. whole garlic you can smoke/roast on its own in some moist outer layers, or if you have a cast iron skillet, peel it with garlic, onions, any type of pepper with some oil, a little bit of sugar, and beer and put it in there for a about 30 minutes or so and you will get some delicious carmelization and smoky flavor. you can also make chipotles and anchos (from jalapenos and poblanos, respectively) or any other dried chili. just lay them on the grates and let them smoke until they are all wrinkly and shriveled and dark purple, almost black. hatch chilis are in season right now and are like 50 cents a pound, so I was planning to smoke a bunch of those this weekend (smoked peppers last a lot longer, and can be ground in to powders, pureed into sauces, etc) I regularly bake some sweet or regular potatoes using the smoker rather than the oven. if you have the ability for direct and indirect heat (im spoiled, I have a gas grill right next to my smoked) after they are about medium baked but still kinda hard, slice em into .25" discs and grill em flat and brush on some oil/butter and salt and pepper. they are delicious. I have also done broccoli and cauliflower, heads of red cabbage sliced into discs (preserving the root) and laid flat on the grates. all these only take about 15-20 minutes, so I usually throw them on right as the ribs or chicken is finishing (though they also come out great over direct as well). just make sure that you give them a spritz of water and oil (like with some Pam) before you put them out there. again, if you have a cast iron, throw some bacon (or pork belly) in there when you start the smoke, and as the fat starts to render, throw in about 2 cups of cooked(or canned) pinto beans, half a beer, a splash of apple cider vinegar, some of your favorite bbq sauce, a small can of tomato paste, and plenty of spices (pepper, paprika, turmeric, GARLIC, chili, etc) and just leave it in there while your other meat cooks. and baked apples. core them, wrap in foil, drop in some butter and cinnamon and brown sugar, and pull em out when you are ready for desert. they can't really be overcooked.
as for wood, hickory is a really strong flavor. It is my favorite for ribs. I use a lot of mesquite, which is also pretty strong, but I have a tree in my yard so i have plenty of it free. Cherry and apple are more mellow, especially if you are going to focus on the veggies. Personally, I like really smoky flavored stuff (eg: i'd rather eat chipotles than jalapenos) so it doesn't bother me as much.
most of this comes from spendings 12-16 hours on saturdays in college drinking beer, watching football, and playing with fire with a bunch of hungry dudes.

Excellent, thanks for all the advice! I do have my gas grill next to the smoker so that will work out.
My reason is the same as yours, except it's watching 11 hours of NFL on Sunday. I don't let anyone over to watch college football because I live in the heart of State Penn country and I hate watch their games, nobody wants to watch my Pitt games with me.

It was when I was in Louisville. Didn't get the chance to try it again in Atlanta - not a very long layover this time.
i'm so bummed. i check my cocoons every day, and they were fine yesterday. i just went outside and one of them has turned completely dark and has a small hole in the side. according to google, it seems like a parasite got to it. nature is so beautiful, but so gruesome sometimes.

i teared up a little when i found it/figured out what happened, because i feel so connected to these little guys. the others still look healthy, so hopefully nothing has affected them. i'm really hoping they hatch this week before i head to dc for landmark.
