How are there that many Packer and Patriot fans in Charlotte?
The most popular teams in the south are Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers and then probably Pats and Packers, before any of the local teams. Why? Bandwagons.
Eh theres actually a theory to why the Steeler fans are spread all over the country. When the steel industry crashed and Pittsburgh went bottom up, everyone scattered from here. Mostly to the south (why? because Pittsburgh weather sucks)but still remain loyal to the Black n Gold. Also, not like Florida has a decent team to root for anyway. I cant explain the Pats/GB fans though
mother fucking friday, i'm so happy to see you. hanging with my official "drinking buddy" tonight for the first time in a good while, cannot wait. is it 3:30 yet??????????????
Does "drinking buddy," in quotations, mean like actually drinking buddy, fuck buddy/gf, bathsalts buddy...?? What's the insinuation here?
just coffee and tequila actually. nothing more.
but seriously just a friend that i drink with. roam bars from 4-10 and laugh and drink. we drink on the same level
Anybody here with Sallie Mae loans who has done the Upromise program? They send me e-mails about it all the time, and every time I've given it any serious thought, it hasn't seemed worth it to me for some reason or another, but I am curious if anyone has any experience with it.
I tried to use it when it was in its infancy. It wasn't very rewarding. It looks like they have improved it since then. I wouldnt count on it putting a huge dent in your loans, but you're going to spend the cash anyway so if there's a minimal credit reward it doesnt hurt.
Right now I have $5.27 credit in my acct. I should probably update my card info.

Nah I don't know anyone from Pittsburgh. It's simple really, those are the teams that have won the most super bowls.

This is what happened to our family. Loyal to all Pittsburgh pro sports.

To be fair, when there weren't any pro teams in the South people had to pick someone. The Cowboys were the only "Southern" team for a long time.

The Cowboys first season in the NFL was 1960. That's 6 years before the Falcons and Dolphins first season and 7 years before the Saints first season. I wouldn't call that a long time.

Thanks! I only have about three years left on this loan, so I'm thinking that at this point, I wouldn't be able to accrue enough to make a real difference in how much I ultimately pay.

Fair enough. But I make a habit of asking DC Cowboys fans (there are a ton of them) why they're Cowboys fans, and there's a lot of "my dad was from North Carolina and there wasn't another team to root for" answers. There's also an element of when teams integrated that's at play.

Take a cab on the same level - you just got free, right? No need to go back to that hassle, and I'm sure you wouldn't wish it on him. Have fun!

That makes a lot of sense especially with so many people that live in the DC area that's a transplant from another city. The Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is the same way. And I'm sure if I were to ask Yankee fans around here why they cheer for that team their answer would be the same. But the odd thing about The Cowboys is that even though they have such a large national fan base; the local fans are really fair weathered. Take a look at the picture bellow. This is from the season premier game at Texas Stadium*. I doubt you would ever see something like this at a Yankees, Red Wings or Lakers game.
*I don't care how much money AT&T played; The Cowboys will always play at Texas Stadium for me. The same with the Giants and The Meadowlands and the 49ers and Candlestick.

I listened to the "daytime" playlist earlier. Solid. Who knew Obama was into Brandi Carlisle and Florence? Love it!

I don't know if it's because I'm an "old lady" now or because I'm so used to working early mornings, but starting a night of drinking at 11pm is way too late.

Being a wise old 30 something, I agree. Luckily, it's only 8:39 here and about time to start.

Luckily, we are at the bar now.
Even when I was younger and full of energy, starting to drink at 11pm was how I went to bed after half a drink.
It's never fun when you realize that shrimp you just ate was sitting out on the counter for 8 hours and you only have a short time before you start hating life.

Oh no!!!! Good luck. Maybe you won't get sick from it!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I had a couple friends from North Dakota come visit Portland for a week. I took them to a bunch of fun stuff but this weekend was the capper. Thursday we drove to the ocean and had a box wine beach fire 'til one in the morning. Never saw another soul. So much wine was had but I do recall us capping it off by running into the ocean hand in hand. We pitched our tents on the sand next to an abandoned hobo camp replete with broken glass, old mattresses, and a used tampon. I didn't eat the tampon. Friday we drove down the Pacific Coast Highway, stopping off at every piece of ocean that caught our eye.
We turned inland toward Crater Lake and that night camped there. It was late and our fire was dying when a guy came by and said, "Hey, I have a problem. I've got all this corn but nothing to smoke it with." He was an old traveler dude and my friend carved him an apple. The apple was passed, as were stories, and at the end he gifted us many kernels of corn. The next day we hiked and explored Crater Lake, maybe the prettiest places I've ever seen. I live next to the Columbia Gorge which I've always considered one of the most beautiful places on earth. The Gorge is a dog diaper compared to Crater Lake.
If I ever get a girlfriend I'm pretty sure this would be our falling in love trip. Unfortunately the only single girl with was my sister. Maybe next time.
