Is this bat thing in Austin well known outside of Texas? I've never heard about it before and I just googled it and it actually looks really neat. Not sure I could stand there while a shit ton fly around me (or even on the bridge while they fly over), but perhaps I could observe from a very safe distance...
That's a vampire bat. I wouldn't want to get one of those. Just a nice flying fox.
Bats are adorable! I'd keep one as a pet if it were humane.

Obviously my perspective is a little biased, but I'd imagine a fair amount of people planning a trip to Austin are aware of it. It's been featured on numerous TV shows too, so there is definitely some exposure of it to the rest of the nation as well.
You should definitely check it out though. Start far away, and slowly move closer day by day!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Large numbers of notifications after not posting anything particularly like or quote worthy in the last few hours always means that Bonnie is catching up on Inforoo

I hate being upwards of ten pages behind on here... there's so much I want to comment on, but I don't want to drag up closed conversations. #busyatworkproblems
How's the new job going??
SOOOOO good! It's really busy right now with Reunion being this weekend. It's the busiest time of year normally and on top of it, this position was empty for 3 weeks. Co-workers did their best to get things done, but I am definitely playing catch up. I like being busy and really enjoy the kind of tasks that I am currently working on, so life is good. Also, I have been so busy I haven't been able to exclaim.. I CAN LISTEN TO MUSIC! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Private office for the win! I am switching from the desktop that they gave me to a laptop, so I am waiting until I get that to download Spotify. Maybe then I will finally participate in Now Playing! For now I am just letting YouTube play. I've been listening to Tiny Desk all morning which is pretty cool because I am listening to things I probably wouldn't have normally. For example, the Pacifica Quartet is playing now. I'm catching up on Inforoo a little today because I finally got the student schedule out on Friday (almost 60 kids over three days) and I came in early, stayed late and worked through lunch every day last week. Going to get a little Inforoo time in

I can't help that you excitedly posted so many times in the NFF thread over the past week. There was a lot for me to like! Except for the post that said you bought all four nights of Deer Tick. I did not like that one.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

They have flying foxes at the Columbus Zoo. They're like the size of an 8 year old. You're crazy.

I'm going to try to be responsible and sell one or two of them depending on guests. Knowing me I probably won't be able to but I will try.

Flying foxes and fruit bats are the cutest bats around, that's not even a matter of opinion, that's a straight up fact! There are several other really awesome bats that I'd love to own but flying foxes and fruit bats definitely top the list. The only problem is that fruit bats get way bigger than other species
I know lots of those quirky regional words, but I just had a Mom here for orientation ask me where the nearest place with "sitters" was. I thought she meant like a daycare for children. Turns out she meant chairs.

That's fucking weird.
"Ah, one of them new fangled sittin' devices"
She had no noticeable accent and google isn't coming up with regional use of sitters. I think she was just crazy
I just recently discovered the joy that is cold brewed coffee. I drink coffee from time to time, but definitely not an everyday habit for me.
I picked up a few of these to take to Bonnaroo. It's a super concentrated coffee. The 32oz bottle is 8 servings. Each 4oz serving is 270mg of caffeine, I think that's about 3 times the amount of normal coffee. And the taste is great too, no bitterness.
Should be a good way to wake up in the morning, or keep you going in the evening!
Thought some of you caffeine addicts might want to hook a drip line up to this stuff.

I saw this today for the first time while working. It was 7.99 and I thought that's one expensive coffee. I didn't even read the bottle but I think I'll pick some up as well. I usually bring the starbucks iced coffee but this will take up less cooler space which means more beer.

Ya, the big 32oz bottles are like $11. But when you consider that's 8 servings, it comes out to $1.37/serving. And each serving is 270mg caffeine. I think the little 6oz Starbucks Double Espresso only has 160mg caffeine, and those run $1.75-2.
And the black coffee one is just water and coffee, nothing else added. Nice if you're not wanting the sugar/creamer along with it. And allows you to add it to pretty much whatever.

Concentrates ftw.
And where can I find you in the a.m at bonnaroo? GA or VIP? Got a flag?
Been a fun year for our college baseball team (Radford). Went 45-16, was the #1 seed in the Big South tournament, won it, and made it to the regional final against the defending champs in the national tournament. It was the first time in our school history that a men's program won a national event.

I wasn't aware of the Austin bats until I got to Texas.
I don't recall seeing any while I was down there, but however it was only two days.
