Pretty solid. Wouldn't make me jump ship though. Also its def not an official announcement. Some art prankster following the boards could have made that up.
Definitely fake. Happens every year. A lot is pulled from festival-outlook.consequenceofsound.net/fests/view/646/bonnaroo-music-and-arts-festival which is a legit rumor board. 'Insider' has confirmed phish, radiohead and rhcp....also said phish is likely doing one show. I still don't get the radiohead as they have no u.s. dates scheduled after coachella....but, 'insider' has never been wrong.

I totally buy that more EDM acts are coming. Skrillex is headlining the dance tent on Saturday, and I guess Oakenfold is big enough to headline one of the other nights, but there's at least one major spot to fill.

I hear it's the real thing and Bonnaroo didn't want people to know yet so they are using this board to spread the rumor that it's a fake. Let that blow your mind!

lol @ CoS being a "legit rumor board". CoS is info from here.

As much as I like more EDM, I'm not sure if this'll pan out. Totally could, but the fest definitely already has enough EDM to meet last year's work. Skrillex = bassnectar here, and while it's genre crossing, Oakenfold can do a daytime show and another late night like Pretty Lights. And if they need any other (jam)electronica, they can go the STS9 route. My guess is that Hangout isn't really trying to push any frontiers on booking EDM acts. Hell, even Roo has trouble in this area.
I might be mistaken, but I think last year's EDM acts were
1. Pretty Lights 2. Big Gigantic 3. Bassnectar 4. Girl Talk 5. DJ Jimmy Boom Boom
Conceivably, that means we need 5 EDM acts this year 1. Skrillex 2. Oakenfold 3. Zeds Dead 4. Paper Diamond 5. Archnemesis
It's definitely possible I missed acts from last year, I just looked at last years lineup and didn't recognize every single performer. Unless I'm missing anything (which I probably am), I think the hangout might be set for EDM acts.

I might agree if Skrillex wasn't billed so high and specifically mentioned as the dance tent headliner. I'm expecting the tent to be much bigger this year, and possibly even in a different location so the EDM headliners can play at the same time as the Surf Style stage headliners. They talked a big game about adding a dance tent and bringing in more electronic acts last year, they just whiffed when it came to logistics. Regardless of whether or not they succeed, I think they're going to try to keep EDM a significant part of this festival.
The current EDM roster just isn't big as last year's. Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, and Girl Talk were all big draws, despite their festival overexposure. This year there's only Skrillex (who is a bigger draw now than any of those other 3 were last year) and Oakenfold. I think we're going to see at least one EDM addition as big or bigger than Oakenfold, and I wouldn't be surprised to see two.
It's possible STS9 could headline the tent, but I'm guessing they'll put them on an outdoor stage like they did last year.
i was kind of hoping they put skrillex on the beach, but it does make more sense for him to be in the tent. more then anything else i hope for two things:
1) FIX THE SOUND AT THE SURF STYLE STAGE. the volume was way too low to be acceptable. If I show up and the setup is the same as last year i'll probably get really angry and then start crying.
2) BIGGER BOOM BOOM. MUCH BIGGER. they already side they would expand the boom boom tent, I just hope they expand it enough. EDM is even bigger this year then it was last year.
Beats Antique played both a live day show and a late night dj set opening for Bassnectar.
Rich Aucoin had a late night show as well with Lynx.
I agree with kyejwe and still feel there is something missing. Oakenfold is a bit weird to see on this lineup, but I guess someone out there still listens to trance music. I preferred the EDM acts of last years lineup much more than this years, but I'm still looking forward to seeing Skrillex, Paper Diamond and Zeds Dead for the first time.
I'm hoping they throw Break Science, Araabmuzik, Glitch Mob, or some more live edm acts as opposed to just "dj's."

not my scene, but isn't sphongle in the mix?
Yes. I've seen him Shpongletron Experience twice. Once I thought he was alright and the other time I thought he was awesome. They were in TOTALLY different settings though. I don't know what to expect for this.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I have never heard of "Shpongle" until the line up came out, but these guys look wild as anything I've ever seen. Can someone explain to me what their deal is?
I looked up their wikipedia, this is a quote from it:
"The track, "Divine Moments of Truth," for example, contains a vocal sample of Raja Ram describing the effects of dimethyltryptamine (DMT)."

That's some pretty heady stuff
They're a pretty trippy group of musicians that centers around Simon Posford, a DJ, and Raja Ram who is this older British guy. They have a lot of live instruments during their full shows, which I've never seen. Occasionally Posford will tour alone as the Shpongletron Experience, which played at Roo last year. There was some talk about not being allowed back into the States due to some immigration issue, but haven't really followed that.
Pretty trippy stuff. I have a couple of their albums. Are you Shpongled? and Falts of the Inexpressible. Never seen them before, interested to see what it's like.

Shpongle is great...I love it but it freaks out pretty much everyone I've ever introduced it to. I would never listen to it faced (partly because I haven't done that in a decade), even though I love the idea of it.
Actually (and this is a sad but pretty funny admission looking back on it), when we were initiating our blindfolded pledges in college--after like 12 hours of running them nonstop and becoming totally delirious--I would BLAST shpongle on the system in the basement and it was so terrifying it would even creep out the brothers.
Hands down the strangest (in a good way) music I've ever heard

Looks similar to the Wookiefoot experience. I've been at a few festivals when those guys have decended on the late night crowd and nobody knows what the hell is happening.

Would love to see a John Butler Trio add. He's played Mobile before and really enjoyed it - always a possibility, and it doesn't look like he'll be on tour, so available, but might not be in the cards to do a one off U.S. show without being on tour. Fingers crossed, though.
Three people messaged me interested about my condo, and its still up for grabs just FYI...first come first serve.
Half a mile from the fest, gulf view, sleeps 6, and is a really good deal. Just around a grand for all 4 nights. Stayed there last year and loved it, unfortunately won't be able to go this year because im moving to Cali

Thanks kye friiday to you. Where is your data coming from? I checked jam base and pollstar to no avail. I would really want Dave to close out Sunday so I can go home early.

I checked every band's website. I didn't check Facebook pages unless that was the only thing available. Pollstar-ish sites were surprisingly worthless.
The leaked DMB tour dates that we all assumed to be a confirmation had them closing out Sunday. Jack White is confirmed for Friday, so that would leave RHCP for Saturday. That could flip if the DMB dates aren't totally accurate, though.
I've looked EVERYWHERE for an image or report as to 2011's day to day schedule so we could try and start piecing things together but I can't find anything.
kyejwe, I think your headliners are spot on, the leaked tour dates regarding DMB match up with them closing the fest and while it seems weird to say this, they look like the "biggest" band on the lineup. Unless someone can find a 2011 schedule, I think everything else is a total toss up at this point. I could see Skrillex playing a later saturday DJ set. Pretty lights was the biggest billed EDM act last year and he played on Saturday, from what I remember around 4 or 5 for an hour and a half.
If anyone can find an old schedule or scan one in and post it, it would probably help us start speculating as to where the acts will fall (or at least help us waste a TON of time at work, which is always cool by me).
